make a comic book, but let’s make it a little bit different. Instead of one person or a team making the whole book, we’re gonna have every panel made by a different cartoonist. We are gonna do one page per episode. So the number of guests is the number of panels on the page. So now you’re probably wondering what’s this comic book gonna be about? Well, lemme tell you. It’s gonna be about a robot. This robot whose name is blank. What happens next? Nobody knows, but it’s gonna be fun finding out.
Edmund Kearsley (00:48):
Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to let’s make a comic book. I’m your host, ed Kiley, and we’re gonna be making a page of a comic book today where every panel is by a different artist, and those artists are Luca. Hello. Welcome to the show.
Luka Palmer (01:07):
Hey there.
Edmund Kearsley (01:09):
And we’ve got Ethan welcome. Hello. And we’ve got Den as well. Hello. Hi.
(01:17)
All right. So first things first, we’re gonna pick the order of the panel drawing. And to pick that, I’m going to show you some stuff. You put me to full screen. Si. So Luca, this is gone. Yeah. Put me to to full screen Luca, you gotta choose. Oh one of these eighties games. Yeah, that’s this is the one I actually had when I was a kid. There’s Sarah Rings a lot, a Miss Pac Man and a classic caveman electronic game, which my friend had to, I used to play a lot. I can’t hold up that three.
Luka Palmer (02:12):
I might go with the caveman, to be honest. That’s very cool.
Edmund Kearsley (02:15):
Caveman. So that is number three. So you’re gonna go last and then Ethan, you get to choose out of Miss Pacman, or Let’s go, let’s go things. Sorry. A lot. Number one,
Edmund Kearsley (02:37):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (02:42):
Ethan’s first. Lucas second. And Luc is
Luka Palmer (02:51):
Number three, I
Edmund Kearsley (02:51):
Think. Three. Yeah. And Shaden Second. Second <inaudible>. And then oh, now yes. To pick which of the panel layouts we’re gonna be choosing.
Sheydin Dew (03:04):
Yes.
Edmund Kearsley (03:06):
There’s the three panels, the three layouts that we’ve got for tonight.
Sheydin Dew (03:10):
Yep. So
Edmund Kearsley (03:12):
Do you get to choose from the hand of choosing to pick a number?
Sheydin Dew (03:17):
I, let’s go my birth number. Number three.
Edmund Kearsley (03:22):
Number three, yes. Is layout two.
Sheydin Dew (03:26):
Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (03:27):
Which is the triangle. Nice. Okay.
Sheydin Dew (03:34):
Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (03:37):
there, so Nathan’s first you get the, the first panel
Sheydin Dew (03:46):
Spotlights on you, <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (03:50):
And I’ll throw some comments out there. at lunchtime today, Reggie said first of course, Regie. So that’s a bit of eagerness there. Nice one. Reggie <laugh>, just before the show began, Kerry did second. Hi Reggie. And then Nick May during the show. So these are all during the show now, has gone Hello Artisans and cold Creature, that’s a new name for me. says, hi guys. And Nick Quick is saying, man, the South Aussies look good.
Sheydin Dew (04:24):
<laugh>? Yeah. South Australia. T <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (04:27):
Very good. Excellent. So, Shaden, you just got back from Korea?
Sheydin Dew (04:39):
Yes, yes I did. Yeah, I was over there for a week and a half and it was my first ever overseas trip, so it was a big one for me and it was at the top of my bucket list to do. So I was very honoured to go to somewhere that I’ve always wanted to go to since the pandemic. So I finally did it and I did it with two of my very closest friends. shout out to Emma and Kai if they’re watching. yeah, it was really, really good fun. I’m not sure if anyone viewing tonight has been to Korea, but it’s definitely, I think it’s really underrated. Yeah, I think there’s lots of aspects that exceeded my expectations, I guess. Like the food, the culture transportation, funnily enough, was a huge one for me. Transportation over there is crazy. We took the second fastest bullet train in the world, so just behind Japan’s obviously. And that was the famous KTX that starred in the train to Pusan if anybody’s seen the zombie movie. and that was fantastic. That took us from the north end of Korea in Seoul to the very bottom in Pusan
Sheydin Dew (05:51):
And
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:56):
Was really good.
Edmund Kearsley (05:59):
How fast was the trainer? Sorry, I,
Sheydin Dew (06:02):
I dunno off the top of my head. I can Google it though. I know that my brother did before I left and he was like, oh, train behind Japan. ’cause I know that he’s going to Japan at the end of the year, so I think he just wanted to up one me. So, which <laugh>? well
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:17):
Use Google. I’ll throw in some more comments. We’ve got a year, gday mates from sped. We’ve got a Howie F from Samson. Cole Creature just said he’s from South Australia. He’s a South Australian artist, or she, I shouldn’t assume Korea was home for a year. Says, oh, Alex, yes, of course Alex has lived everywhere as we know. I said,
Sheydin Dew (06:39):
Alex
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:40):
<laugh> says, gday all. does the K tx have the magician giving safety tips with a pigeon? What po i, is that a comment from Alex?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:53):
That is a comment from Alex.
Sheydin Dew (06:54):
He left a comment on my Instagram saying whether or not there was still something at Pisan telling you not to smoke on the beach, which there wasn’t. So I think, I think the time that Alex went to Korea was probably the best time to go, because I didn’t see that, and I don’t think I saw the magic magician on the train either. I I luck it out <laugh>. but they definitely still have the funny, like animations to like guide you through safety procedures and stuff like that. If in the, in the case of emergency, I really enjoyed them. They’re always good fun. but to answer your question, ed the speed of the KTX train in Korea they usually run at a speed of 305 kilometres per hour.
Edmund Kearsley (07:39):
Wow. Whoa.
Sheydin Dew (07:40):
That’s pretty fast. Yeah. I didn’t realise it <laugh>. It’s pretty fast.
Edmund Kearsley (07:45):
It’s incredible of going too fast. We forgot to show last week’s page. Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:50):
Oh yes.
Edmund Kearsley (07:52):
<laugh>. So I’ll you put me to full screen sis.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:56):
Ah, yep, sure.
Edmund Kearsley (07:59):
We can have a look at that. So here we have Tom McGee, oh, H panel. Sorry. We’ll get there. We’ve got blank is munch crunching and some eggs. egg crunch. There’s a diamond. He says, yeah, we’ve got Dana King’s panel, we’ve got the Ouch. And then blank sees the, the diamond things are also pretty Wow. And then butter fingers from the slippery eggs throws it away or drops it dramatically. And then Laura Smith has this sequence of the, the egg lands, then gruesome little legs turns into a little robot itself.
Luka Palmer (09:01):
Very cool.
Edmund Kearsley (09:04):
Last week’s page for everyone keeping up at home. I think that’s that. Should we have a look at what was that?
Luka Palmer (09:22):
The pressure’s really on trying to, trying to set up a good page here.
Edmund Kearsley (09:25):
You can do it. Ethan, should we have a,
Luka Palmer (09:28):
We’ve got faith in you,
Edmund Kearsley (09:30):
But Ethan’s done so far.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (09:35):
You bring it up? Yeah. Oh,
Luka Palmer (09:46):
Fancy.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (09:46):
It starts flying. Nice.
Edmund Kearsley (09:49):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (09:50):
Interesting. Ethan, are you gonna have blank or the, the diamond robot saying anything?
Ethan Harris (09:57):
I reckon there’ll be some sort of menacing sound effect coming out of the creature up there somewhere.
Edmund Kearsley (10:06):
Nice.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:07):
Cool.
Ethan Harris (10:08):
Maybe a little gasp.
Edmund Kearsley (10:11):
So Shaden, is that enough information for you to start your panel?
Sheydin Dew (10:16):
I guess <laugh>? I’ll give it, yeah, yeah,
Ethan Harris (10:20):
Yeah. Let’s do it. I’m living in open, there’s no background, so,
Sheydin Dew (10:22):
Okay. All right. Okay. I think, yeah, you get
Edmund Kearsley (10:25):
The big panel too.
Sheydin Dew (10:27):
Yeah. Which I’m, that’s nerve wracking <laugh>. God. So does that mean that I’m given the green light to Go ahead.
Edmund Kearsley (10:39):
Yeah.
Sheydin Dew (10:40):
Heck yeah. All right.
Edmund Kearsley (10:44):
That drawing,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:52):
This is the part where we passed Luca.
Edmund Kearsley (10:55):
Mm.
Luka Palmer (10:56):
<laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (10:58):
Lu. Okay. Are you new to making comics or have you been doing it for a while?
Luka Palmer (11:05):
I’ve been working on them for a couple of years now, probably since graduating high school in 2019.
Edmund Kearsley (11:13):
Excellent.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:14):
Oh, I feel old now. <laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (11:16):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (11:18):
It’s the way to do it. <laugh>,
Edmund Kearsley (11:20):
Have you got any books out or are you still
Luka Palmer (11:23):
Not yet. I’m working on my first one at the moment that I’m hoping to start uploading, probably onto UNE at the start of next year.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:32):
Oh, cool.
Edmund Kearsley (11:33):
Cool. Do you give any clues about the, the characters or story or anything?
Luka Palmer (11:38):
Okay. Top secret. I, I think a lot of my friends have already seen the behind the scenes stuff, so it’s probably fine to give away the details for it. it’s called Monica Goes Poster and it’s about a normal postwoman in a seaside town, except she’s not so normal because she can stretch her arms, legs, and neck, just like any length that she wants. And she basically just trudges through the ocean trying to deliver mail to people on their boats and not having a good time off it.
Edmund Kearsley (12:17):
That sounds awesome. That’s pretty
Luka Palmer (12:19):
Cool. <laugh>. Thanks.
Edmund Kearsley (12:26):
It says some comments.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:28):
Oh. Oh yeah, sorry. I was working on something else there for a sec to get to get people to know we’re here. Oh, wow. Where were we up to? This is a very busy show. howdy folks. Boston Magician. the train in Busan bus. Yes. was amazing. That’s cold creature. Oh, nice. Ricko Richo I should say. that’s Travis. Hi everyone.
Edmund Kearsley (12:58):
Hey Travis.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:58):
Got another SA artist tuning in. Nice. Glad see Shane and Ethan especially after paper cuts. <laugh>. Yeah, you go. And he’s just commented on the speed of the train, 280 kilometres per hour when he was there. I love that he remembers this stuff. That was sloppy tunes or Alex cold creature has corrected me. She, and all good that I got it wrong. Thank you for being so forgiving. a cartoon cigarette. Okay. I missed what that comment referring to. That was from Alex again. Yeah, that’s right. Yeah. We’ve got a go Ethan. Love Dad and Mel. Yay.
Edmund Kearsley (13:43):
Thank you <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:46):
that’s awesome. this comic needs some hardcore romance. Yes. <laugh>, you tried to inject it with romance before Alex. It didn’t work out, but good try. it may happen, it may not. Who knows, right? Robot diamond. I sense engagement. Okay.
Luka Palmer (14:02):
Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:03):
Trying to, he’s trying to sway the story. <laugh>, I dunno. Alex Jambo Monica mentioned.
Luka Palmer (14:14):
Oh, yes, that’s one of my friends. Hey, Jambo. Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:17):
Okay. Cool. And then Samson says Monica with lots of a
Luka Palmer (14:22):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (14:26):
So speaking of the Alex and the romance, it show his this is the classic one panel romance that he did, and then Peter Lawson decided to go a different direction straight
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:40):
Away. <laugh>.
Luka Palmer (14:44):
Very cool. Classic.
Edmund Kearsley (14:45):
Let’s make your comic book moment <laugh>.
Ethan Harris (15:01):
Now I’ve added a few sharp claws to this diamond creature, so, Ooh. It’s getting again, a bit intense. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (15:10):
You’ve added claws.
Ethan Harris (15:11):
Yeah.
Sheydin Dew (15:13):
Okay. <laugh>. <laugh> they were already kind of looking like claws from Laura’s
Sheydin Dew (15:19):
Drawing. Oh, okay. Okay.
Sheydin Dew (15:20):
No, that’s fine. That’s added some little I’ve added in a surprise factor. I hope that’s okay. I figured if I’ve got the centre panel, I’d introduce something like to the more to the diamond character. That’s what I’m going for. Ooh. Hopefully I’m not spoiling anything
Luka Palmer (15:39):
Exciting.
Sheydin Dew (15:41):
Well, hopefully, unless people probably feel, oh, it’s just another thing for me to draw kind of thing. <laugh> <laugh> and it’s something so out of my comfort zone drawing as well. So we’ll see how we going with it.
Edmund Kearsley (16:04):
It’s always good to try something new.
Sheydin Dew (16:08):
Yeah, absolutely.
Luka Palmer (16:11):
Yeah. I really, yeah, I really try anything with hard edges. So this will be quite a fun to, what’s it called? Try that out.
Sheydin Dew (16:19):
Yeah, same here. Actually I’m in the same boat.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:34):
<laugh>. Okay. We just got a comment from Travis. He’s going, Hey Alex, would Ed allow you to do a romantic blank spinoff?
Edmund Kearsley (16:43):
Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:44):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:47):
Oh, Jackie just popped in and it’s Haya sausage sizzle as he calls me and the gang.
Edmund Kearsley (16:54):
Jackie. Hey, can we get a look at at Jayden’s panel?
Sheydin Dew (17:05):
Yeah, absolutely. It’s gonna spoil apr. Is it working?
Edmund Kearsley (17:13):
Nope,
Sheydin Dew (17:14):
That’s not my drawing. <laugh>
Sheydin Dew (17:17):
Is
Sheydin Dew (17:18):
Disconnected. Maybe that was my warmup.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:22):
Oh, okay. Why is it showing that and not your present
Sheydin Dew (17:25):
Picture? do I need to,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:27):
Have you opened a new window? Maybe?
Sheydin Dew (17:30):
I have on my, on my desktop. Would that have interfered with it? Should I re
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:38):
I think that’s what we can
Edmund Kearsley (17:39):
Do.
Edmund Kearsley (17:41):
Put
Luka Palmer (17:44):
There we go.
Sheydin Dew (17:46):
Do you want me to stop the screen, sis?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:49):
Yeah, stop it and re do it all from scratch. Easy. That’s the easiest way I
Sheydin Dew (17:54):
Pulled out Ference. People were
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:55):
Showing the programme not the screen, so we couldn’t just flash the screen over. Yeah.
Sheydin Dew (17:59):
Okay. Hold on. Gimme one sec. Technology. Am I right?
Edmund Kearsley (18:04):
Hmm. We have to best Technological differences are, are difficulties on this show, <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (18:11):
Oh. Oh, I wonder if it’s because I minimised it. Maybe that’s why. Ah, okay. Here we go. Try it again. There we go. Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (18:23):
Oh, there we
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:23):
Do. I’m seeing frames now.
Sheydin Dew (18:26):
There we go. Sorry guys. Sorry. Viewers.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:30):
<laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (18:32):
A little guy on top. This
Sheydin Dew (18:35):
<laugh>. I I kind of wanna add, I was thinking about an eye, but I’m feeling like the gun that’s popped up on top is kind of doing it for me. I just wanted to like draw, I don’t know, a closeup of the robot guy, I guess. And maybe a surprise feature that he might have.
Edmund Kearsley (18:55):
So this a gun sticking out the top.
Sheydin Dew (18:57):
Yeah, that’s what I’m going for. Like I said going outta my comfort zone, drawing a gun. So if anybody’s got any tips and tricks, please let me know. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (19:08):
Very cool.
Edmund Kearsley (19:16):
Is that enough for you to start Luca? Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (19:18):
Yeah, I reckon so. I’ve got a good idea. Sweet.
Sheydin Dew (19:21):
Hopefully that gives you kind of like some context of perhaps I’ve perceived this character.
Edmund Kearsley (19:28):
Yeah.
Sheydin Dew (19:29):
Yeah. It gives you an idea of maybe what this character could be.
Edmund Kearsley (19:37):
It’s my favourite part of the show. How everyone sees different things in the, the panels and the characters.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (19:46):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. Cool. Cool.
Edmund Kearsley (20:10):
This is the point of the show where we get interrupted by the drawing and forget to ask questions. <laugh>,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:18):
<laugh>, I’ve noticed this is also the time that the comments slow right down. Everyone’s watching the drawing. I think <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (20:30):
let’s ask Ethan a, a question. So Ethan how long have you been drawing comics for? it’d be a few years now.
Ethan Harris (20:46):
I started in my second year of uni. I didn’t really have much of a direction going through my degree and then did one comics class and was like, yep, this is it. This is what I want to do. awesome. Since then, just been working on different projects. I’ve made three different comics. They’re still short ones. and I’ve got a larger one in the works at the moment that should come out next year, hopefully. that’s awesome. That’s exciting. Yeah, so I didn’t really have, I, I read comics as a kid a little bit, had some Simpsons comics, but never really had a passion for it until I actually got into and making one and, and learning about it.
Edmund Kearsley (21:44):
Yeah, it’s usually like the, the fandom comes first. Like you, you get into comics through collecting and reading them and then wanna try and figure out how to make them.
Luka Palmer (22:00):
Mm. That’s really cool. Yeah, that was definitely, it’s definitely me.
Edmund Kearsley (22:12):
So what sort of stuff were, were you reading Luca that got you into it?
Luka Palmer (22:17):
I think, I think it was probably the earliest ones were Tin Tin and Asterisk and Obix. I really liked those ones. It’s very good classics there.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (22:28):
High Five <laugh>.
Luka Palmer (22:31):
Oh
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (22:31):
Yeah, that’s where I started.
Luka Palmer (22:33):
Very good. Yeah, they just had a bunch of like the local library near my house, so it was a way I was reading for a while,
Edmund Kearsley (22:47):
The, the Asterisk and the Tintin and they’re such high quality like cartooning in those books.
Luka Palmer (22:58):
Yeah, they’re incredible.
Edmund Kearsley (23:00):
Mm-Hmm.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:09):
Wanna pop back over to Ethan?
Edmund Kearsley (23:12):
Sure.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:13):
Yeah. Let’s see what Ethan’s drawing
Edmund Kearsley (23:16):
And Obl is the, the No Asterisk is the, the theme for Drink and Draw next week.
Luka Palmer (23:25):
Oh, oh
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:26):
God. Yeah. Drink and draw Oix and Asterisk. It’s, it’s my birthday edition of the show, so I got to pick who we’re doing and I went for the first comic character I ever fell in love with.
Luka Palmer (23:38):
Nice.
Edmund Kearsley (23:52):
And how are we doing for comments sis?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:55):
we had a big quiet sizzle by Nick May <laugh> watching Art <laugh>. And this seems like such a cool challenge bouncing off each other by cold creature. Nice. cold creature. If you happen to draw comics or do comic art I will just find this little thing here. If I can find it, I’ll be right. I’ve deleted it. Oh God. I have to <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (24:24):
No,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:26):
I’m gonna have to write it. Hang on, I’ll quickly write it. Everyone make up something? No. com x net au on. Because I’m guessing you use Instagram. You are saying you got the notification about this video, the show. So if you just go, I’m such a slow typer
Edmund Kearsley (24:48):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (24:49):
Literally the guy that works with computers the most <laugh>,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:52):
<laugh>
Sheydin Dew (24:55):
Go
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:55):
There. now I’ve forgotten Cold creature. I remember Creature, but I couldn’t remember it was before Creature. Go there. Cold Creature. Talk to me over there on Instagram and let me know if you’re interested in being on the show at some point or another.
Edmund Kearsley (25:17):
And anyone else too, if you wanna Yeah, yeah. Come on and get a panel done. Absolutely. Even if you’re not a, like a cartoonist per se, like if you just like drawing or even if you don’t like drawing like we had on is it this page?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (25:35):
Yes, that’s the page. The non artist.
Sheydin Dew (25:39):
Nice,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (25:41):
Nice. Good job.
Sheydin Dew (25:48):
So your, oh, yours has got a mouth, Ethan.
Edmund Kearsley (25:51):
Yeah. Yeah. It’s scary Eyes.
Ethan Harris (25:54):
Ands that I haven’t really designed. They’re just kind up on top, but,
Sheydin Dew (25:58):
Alright. Okay. Well this changes things. I’m gonna have to pop them in. <laugh>. Whoopsies. <laugh>. Alright. Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (26:10):
It’s another classic feature of trying to make a, a comic in this, this format is the the person before you hasn’t added in a detail yet and then you’ve gotta go back. It’s it, show me that again.
Sheydin Dew (26:26):
keeps me on my code. I like it. <laugh>,
Ethan Harris (26:31):
I’ll just keep adding things the
Edmund Kearsley (26:32):
Whole
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (26:32):
Day. <laugh>,
Sheydin Dew (26:36):
You would as well. Ethan, you would
Edmund Kearsley (26:38):
<laugh>
Sheydin Dew (26:41):
I was so focused on like, oh, how many, how many claws has he like drawn? And then I looked and I was like, it’s got a mouth and eyes. Oh no. <laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (26:56):
Did that sort of continuity thing. Does it really matter on a, on a project like this? ’cause everyone seems to draw a blank with different amount of fingers.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:10):
<laugh> very good <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (27:13):
So just go crazy. I
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:15):
Gave thumb, I totally ignored the turnaround. <laugh> <laugh>. So I guess that means he now has a thumb
Ethan Harris (27:27):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:30):
It grew in my panel. Oh, hang on. That wasn’t in my panel. That was in my sketch. Mm. Before the show. Yeah. Sorry, I’m remembering that
Edmund Kearsley (27:40):
Just broke hand.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:41):
That was my practise. That was my practise. I gave him thumbs. All I drew in my panel was his face or part of his face. <laugh>. I was thinking where he had hands. Greetings all from Adrian.
Edmund Kearsley (28:02):
Hey Adrian. Hello?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (28:05):
Seroni. I sorry if I butch your last name Adrian.
Sheydin Dew (28:13):
I like the shape of the eyes that you’ve gone for Ethan. It really gives it a sinister vibe. I love it.
Ethan Harris (28:20):
I just keep think thinking of the Transformers from the first movie, the little one that’s like human size.
Ethan Harris (28:30):
Oh yeah.
Sheydin Dew (28:31):
Super
Ethan Harris (28:31):
Angled eyes.
Sheydin Dew (28:32):
Yeah. Yeah. The little, the little mini the tiny robot
Ethan Harris (28:35):
Thing that turns into like a stereo or something.
Sheydin Dew (28:38):
Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah. Totally. Okay. I like it. I like, I like that point of reference. I like it. Yeah. Awesome. Gucci.
Ethan Harris (28:51):
Okay,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (28:52):
I’m gonna put this up in case one of you know this person.
Edmund Kearsley (29:00):
Sheriden. Mm-Hmm.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (29:02):
<affirmative>? No. Just sounded like women.
Sheydin Dew (29:06):
Ah, yes. I recognise the name
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (29:09):
I believe. Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (29:10):
Okay.
Sheydin Dew (29:11):
On Instagram. I think I’m,
Ethan Harris (29:13):
Ah,
Sheydin Dew (29:15):
Yeah, I recognise that name. Okay. Yeah,
Edmund Kearsley (29:21):
Let’s have a look at shade and drawing. <laugh>. Thanks to be some detail going in
Sheydin Dew (29:29):
Little bit. Yeah. So we’re, we’re getting some floor shortening with the claws. yeah, I don’t know whether or not the size of the character is gonna stay in that, like, that size. I might size it down just a little bit just so you can see its eyes. but yeah, so far I’m pretty happy with it. I’m pretty good. I’m happy. Yeah, I’m happy with the direction it’s going. So hopefully it’s of use to you. Luke
Luka Palmer (29:57):
<laugh>. Yes, definitely.
Sheydin Dew (29:59):
I’m keen to see what you come up with.
Luka Palmer (30:01):
Thanks.
Edmund Kearsley (30:02):
Well, let’s have a look at,
Luka Palmer (30:06):
Oh yeah. Oh yeah, sorry. Hang out for a second. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (30:15):
Ooh. Oh my god.
Edmund Kearsley (30:19):
<laugh>. What’s to
Sheydin Dew (30:21):
<laugh>?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:21):
Is that a fly squad?
Luka Palmer (30:23):
Yeah. <laugh>. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (30:26):
Oh my God, that’s so good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:28):
That’s so awesome.
Luka Palmer (30:30):
<laugh>. As soon as I saw it flying around, I was like, surely it’s got a little fly squad to deal with this <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (30:39):
<laugh>. I love it. That’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:39):
Great. That’s gold.
Sheydin Dew (30:41):
I’m so glad you took it in that direction as well. Like, it’s so
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:44):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (30:47):
And is that a speech bubble as well?
Luka Palmer (30:49):
Yes. That will
Edmund Kearsley (30:50):
Be. You’re gonna have some dialogue.
Luka Palmer (30:52):
Yeah. Still thinking of what to put there
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:03):
And, oh, I guess the rest of us can leave Adrian’s here for Shaden. So <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (31:09):
Hello.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:10):
Well, there we go. Oh well. I did have other things to do tonight. So <laugh>
Luka Palmer (31:16):
<laugh>,
Sheydin Dew (31:19):
It’s nice to see a, a friendly name there at least. So that’s good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:23):
Yeah. Samson’s a big fan. Luca.
Luka Palmer (31:28):
Yeah, that’s good. Hey Samson.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:32):
And oh, Adrian missed the one with Laura Smith Art. Yeah, the, the replays are in this channel, so you’re welcome to have a watch of that. She was a lot of fun actually, but cheeky, which was fun. <laugh>. Oh, I can take that down. Go head that up.
Edmund Kearsley (32:13):
There’s a, a comment from, from Col Keith, preacher from before just starting with comics again. Gonna refresh my brain. Hopefully we’ll have a little zine at next on.
Luka Palmer (32:24):
Ooh. Oh sweet. I love zines.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:28):
Sorry about that Cole creature. I must have missed that one. Adds on the ball. At least one of us is. You can
Edmund Kearsley (32:38):
Show us when you’re on the on Let’s make a comic book.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:42):
Yes. Cool
Edmund Kearsley (32:43):
Creature. What have we got? Let’s see what Ethan’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:59):
<laugh>. Oh, sorry.
Ethan Harris (33:02):
I think I’ve made it too Angular for even my own good. So <laugh>, it’s turning out to be that’s very aggressive, difficult to draw.
Edmund Kearsley (33:12):
It’s looking good.
Sheydin Dew (33:14):
I think with the shape language that you’ve started with Ethan, it’s like, set it up as like this really like evil character. Like all the sharp points on it just makes it look so, and it’s the direction that I was going in as well. So I’m glad that Luke has like gone in with like this funny ending to this page with like, I love it.
Ethan Harris (33:33):
Thanks.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:39):
Thanks Cole. Creature forgives me again. It’s great watching the process. I’m a big fan. I forget to that I’m on the show sometimes. <laugh>, just watching these awesome artists do their work. I don’t know how people sat through my part of the show last on that special.
Ethan Harris (34:07):
Whew.
Edmund Kearsley (34:09):
Your Saturday show is my, my new favourite. Siz
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:14):
Ah, amateur hour. Woo. I’m finishing Wonder Woman. This. Oh no, I’m not finishing this Saturday ’cause I’m going to Supernova this weekend. Oh yeah, that’s, oh nice. Thank you. Yeah, so I’ll have to forgot that was on. I’ll have to finish. Wonder Woman the following weekend.
Edmund Kearsley (34:29):
Tabling or going as a punter?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:36):
just as a punter, just, just going around saying Good day. I’m helping someone out. So I am sort of on a table but not much. Just like covering their lunches and stuff like that. Nice.
Edmund Kearsley (34:47):
Excellent. They’re gonna buy lots of stuff.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:52):
I say yes. My wallet says no. So we’re gonna get into arguments on Friday night. Alright. Adrian has met Ethan as well. There you go. Oh, it’s hard to see the names on the side. Ah, okay.
Ethan Harris (35:12):
Oh yeah, I think I’ve met Adrian a couple times at some markets in Adelaide. Paper cuts.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:25):
How many lunches are they having? Well Nick may, they’re having two as far as I know. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. I do appreciate the smart ass. question though. <laugh>
Luka Palmer (35:42):
<laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (35:44):
Doesn’t sound like you do.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:46):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (35:50):
Did you say that was Nick May that said that?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:53):
Yeah, Nick May. Yeah.
Sheydin Dew (35:54):
Sounds like <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (36:05):
And Nick may famously starts his drawings at the knees when he’s drawing.
Luka Palmer (36:11):
Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (36:12):
He bastards. Sorry, I shouldn’t say that word, but, oh, you had me so confused. I was doing my, just so for the rest of you, I was doing my show on Saturday where I’m trying to draw things. I’m going, oh, where do I start? I dunno where to start. And they start throwing out, start at the knees, start at the armpit. <laugh>, why would you, I realise they were just being smart asses.
Luka Palmer (36:38):
Very good
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (36:40):
Messing with me. I actually thought about starting at the knees and the armpits and I went, why would you?
Edmund Kearsley (36:49):
That was the best.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (36:51):
I’m back. Mu muscles. That’s what the other one start with. The back
Luka Palmer (36:54):
Muscles. Oh,
Edmund Kearsley (36:56):
<laugh>. Oh my
Ethan Harris (36:57):
God.
Luka Palmer (36:58):
Incredible.
Edmund Kearsley (37:00):
It was so good watching you try and figure it out. It’s like, oh, that’s a, I haven’t thought of that. And then as soon as you thought of it going, no, that’s dumb, why would you do that? <laugh>. But wait,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:13):
<laugh>,
Luka Palmer (37:14):
That’d be its own challenging. So <laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (37:19):
And the best bit was that the picture was cropped woman’s knees, so they weren’t even in the drawing. <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:27):
Another part that got me confused. <laugh> and in back muscles weren’t present either.
Luka Palmer (37:33):
<laugh>. <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (37:39):
All right, let’s have a look at the
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:40):
There. Oh, yep. Shade.
Edmund Kearsley (37:44):
There was armpit.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:49):
Ah, love the pause.
Sheydin Dew (37:51):
Yeah. Yeah, I, I really wanted to draw some attention to Ethan’s many additions, but that’s okay. <laugh>, I’m having, I’m actually, if anybody has got any suggestions of how to draw in Ethan’s mouth I definitely haven’t done my calculations correctly. And before I realised that it had a mouth, I’d already drawn a gun there. So
Edmund Kearsley (38:16):
Draw you drawing. Now
Sheydin Dew (38:18):
I’m thinking, should I just like make it as if the guns popped out of the mouth? Because I know with Ethan’s drawing is the top of the diamond, the mouth. Ethan from memory. Is that what you’ve drawn? it looks like it.
Edmund Kearsley (38:33):
I’m not too sure. I’ve just kind of slapped it on there. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (38:36):
Right. Well, what do you recommend? I feel,
Edmund Kearsley (38:39):
You know, I’ll, I’ll let you interpret it how you want.
Sheydin Dew (38:42):
I think, I think I wanna make it as weird as possible. I think I might just make it as if it’s popped out of the mouth. So perhaps I can draw this in here. Oh yeah. As if it’s like, if it’s popped out of here kind of thing and then I can just like oh no, not that I can like colour this area in to make it look like it’s, like goes into the diamond shape. Does that make sense? Yeah, makes sense. I’m not an engineer so I don’t know, but I don’t know, something like that. So it’s like popped up that way.
Edmund Kearsley (39:16):
Awesome.
Sheydin Dew (39:17):
Hopefully that makes a sense. No,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:19):
That makes total sense. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>
Edmund Kearsley (39:20):
Definitely. Okay,
Sheydin Dew (39:21):
Let’s roll with that. I’m gonna roll with that. Sounds good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:23):
He opens his mouth and then a gun pops out. How’s that?
Sheydin Dew (39:25):
Sounds good. All right. Good chat guys. Good chat.
Edmund Kearsley (39:28):
Awesome. You’re gonna put any teeth in?
Sheydin Dew (39:30):
Yeah. You know what, let’s go hard. Let’s not go home. Sounds good to me. <laugh>,
Edmund Kearsley (39:36):
You could cover up a bunch of stuff with your teeth coming
Sheydin Dew (39:38):
Up. I could. Yeah. Or like the electronics and wires and stuff like that. Who said that? Was that Ethan or was that you Luca or was that Ed? Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.
Edmund Kearsley (39:48):
It, it’s me.
Sheydin Dew (39:50):
Who’s me? I’m looking at what I’m trying <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:56):
Me. It was me. It’s
Sheydin Dew (39:57):
Me. Love it. <laugh> amazing. Okay. All right. I like that idea. I was also thinking of doing that with the teeth as well. I think it just adds a little bit more interest, which should be good. I like how much this character has developed already.
Ethan Harris (40:14):
Mm.
Sheydin Dew (40:15):
Yeah. I’m liking it. And this is so out of my comfort zone. I do not draw anything mechanical at all. It’s always like girls in roller blades and stuff. <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (40:34):
I think it’s, go back to the
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:35):
Five spot
Edmund Kearsley (40:36):
<laugh> when you’re drawing comics and stuff is how much can you other things with other stuff so you don’t have to draw everything.
Sheydin Dew (40:46):
Yeah, that’s the truth. Yeah. Oh no,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:56):
I’m gonna the fly sweater.
Edmund Kearsley (40:58):
Let’s have a look. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (41:00):
Heck yeah.
Ethan Harris (41:02):
Sweet.
Edmund Kearsley (41:05):
That’s a good looking blank.
Sheydin Dew (41:08):
Thanks. It is. Yeah. It’s a solid looking blank. It looks good. I really like how confident you are in your line work. It looks really good.
Edmund Kearsley (41:15):
Thank you. Well, let’s see. I’ve gotta think of what to turn the speech bubble now.
Sheydin Dew (41:39):
Some reason the only thing that I could think of was like, maybe like a commercial for Martine. Like <laugh>. What’s that? What’s that advert that sings that song? <laugh>.
Luka Palmer (41:54):
Oh, that’d be good. Oh, I might ears more tune in there actually. That’d be great.
Sheydin Dew (42:00):
Oh my God. Yes.
Ethan Harris (42:01):
I love it. Thank
Sheydin Dew (42:02):
You. You’re welcome. More than welcome.
Luka Palmer (42:05):
Let’s see.
Ethan Harris (42:06):
Okay, now you’re making me want to like had a buzzing sound for this character. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:12):
Well that’s happened before as well with panel two and panel three have influenced panel one. Hmm. I met, was it Logan who put a knife and a bone Yeah. Into the ground so that the other two panels made sense.
Edmund Kearsley (42:30):
It’s that one because they’re,
Ethan Harris (42:32):
Here we go.
Edmund Kearsley (42:34):
There’s all sorts of stuff going on after he started drawing.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:50):
Hopefully. No. So I’m put the pressure on use. So we’re watching you type. I wanna see these teeth.
Sheydin Dew (42:57):
Yeah, they, they coming. also I’m thinking, I know in Ethan’s perhaps it’s not explicitly drawn, but I’m thinking maybe like the eyes are coming out of the mouth like, so. Yeah. Yeah. As well. Like he’s a real weird kind of character. Take what you know about anatomy and then throw it out the window guys because it’s in here. All right. Teeth. teeth. Teeth. Teeth. Teeth. All right. oh. I kind of just gonna wing it, I guess. Let’s put a new layer. you’ve just got sharp pointy ones. Yeah. Ethan. That’s right. Sharp pointy ones. Mm. How many is there? You got 1, 2, 3 on the bottom on each side and then four on top. Got it. Okay. All right.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (43:56):
Oh, okay. William getting some character from Dr. Who? Protons.
Ethan Harris (44:06):
Oh,
Luka Palmer (44:09):
I have lunch. Some of the,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:10):
I’m not going with Dr. Who, so I don’t know the Patrick tonne, but thanks William. Good to see you. And of course Alex is, I thought it was the plankton from SpongeBob.
Sheydin Dew (44:36):
Plankton. Oh my god.
Ethan Harris (44:38):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (44:40):
I love SpongeBob.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:47):
Adrian consecutive panels at once. Yeah. there’s a different page each week and yeah, it’s all at once. I dunno if you were here at the beginning, but who started? Ethan? Ethan started and once he got enough story that we could interpret what was happening, then Shaden started. And once she had enough story enough art and so forth that we could interpret what happens next. Lucas started. So I hope that explains what we’re doing.
Ethan Harris (45:27):
So what’s the, the croton from Dr. Who?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (45:33):
I don’t know actually. I’ll
Ethan Harris (45:37):
Bring it up on the screen. See Croton.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (45:42):
Am I spelling that right? It is a Okay. It’s, I need to put the word doctor Who in there apparently. ’cause it’s coming up with some scientific stuff.
Ethan Harris (45:57):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (46:08):
Oh, okay. Cool. I see what they’re talking about now.
Ethan Harris (46:21):
And
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (46:25):
Just bring up the picture. And I used to be there. Okay. So they’re talking about the diamond head, I believe.
Ethan Harris (46:38):
Oh very.
Sheydin Dew (46:40):
Oh, ah,
Ethan Harris (46:42):
I get it.
Sheydin Dew (46:44):
Very kind of angular shaped character. Mm-Hmm.
Ethan Harris (46:47):
<affirmative>. Especially the,
Sheydin Dew (47:04):
I am definitely not a big fan of drawing <laugh>. Very angular mechanical kind of stuff because you, I find for myself anyway, if I don’t draw accurately it always gets on my nerves. I’m like, ah, it looks out for some reason. <laugh> <laugh>. But we’re kind of just gonna, we’re gonna just trust the process and we’re just gonna go with it.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:28):
As for comment. All good. no problems explaining it. We do it. Most episodes I’ve noticed Croons go. Oh, croons go in your soup. <laugh> <laugh>. Oh boy. Nice one.
Sheydin Dew (47:49):
Classic Big Mae.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:51):
Fantastic. Well hopefully this one doesn’t land in my soup.
Sheydin Dew (48:00):
You wouldn’t want it to, that’s for sure.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (48:02):
Not with that massive gun. <laugh>. No, that’s actually quite tiny, considering it’s quite tiny.
Sheydin Dew (48:08):
Yeah, I’ve just realised that in, in scale it’s probably not as big, but
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (48:13):
I’m sure it’ll still be some serious
Sheydin Dew (48:14):
Damage. <laugh>. Thanks a bunch. I’m sure. <laugh>,
Edmund Kearsley (48:18):
Do you see then these big as like when I’m blanks teeth.
Sheydin Dew (48:25):
Yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (48:26):
Teeth now. There you go. There’s a new thing too
Edmund Kearsley (48:29):
In that panel.
Sheydin Dew (48:33):
<laugh>. This gun is tiny. Oh my God.
Edmund Kearsley (48:43):
Maybe that’s why he’s not intimidated at all in Lucas
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (48:46):
Panel. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (48:50):
I might actually size him down now. I reckon I’m just gonna see if I can fit more of him into the panel. Like especially his eyes. I really wanna have a closeup on his eyes without taking away from the drama of it all.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:05):
Mm-Hmm. Lovely.
Edmund Kearsley (49:09):
Is Shaden you gonna have the, the gun robot saying anything?
Sheydin Dew (49:14):
I wanna kind of make like a whirring sound for the gun, maybe loading or something. That’s what I had envisioned. So unless anybody else has any suggestions, I’m open to suggestions. As always teamwork makes the dream work.
Edmund Kearsley (49:31):
Any suggestions in the chat?
Sheydin Dew (49:33):
Yeah. Yeah, I’d love to hear
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:34):
It. I’m sure Nick may will come up.
Sheydin Dew (49:38):
Yeah, I was just gonna say Nick May’s probably got something to say. I know <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:45):
That’s right. Nick, I’m throwing you so <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (49:48):
Nick, we we see you.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:54):
Ah, but you know I love that guy. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (49:57):
Love that guy. Love that guy. you know what the, the eyes remind me of Ethan. What’s that? Now that you, now that you drew the reference from Transformers, they remind me of like side mirrors of a car. <laugh>.
Ethan Harris (50:16):
Oh,
Sheydin Dew (50:18):
<laugh>. That’s what I’m going with.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (50:21):
Very good. There
Ethan Harris (50:22):
Was a diamond that transforms into a robotic fly that transforms
Luka Palmer (50:27):
Into a car. <laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (50:28):
Yeah. I’m glad we’re all on the same page.
Luka Palmer (50:32):
<laugh>. We’re creating the law as we go. Nice.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (50:37):
I love it.
Sheydin Dew (50:44):
The hard choice of it’s always so hard, you know, like when you’re drawing like a face and like that one eye doesn’t match the other same thing occurs with this.
Edmund Kearsley (50:55):
That’s a good one.
Sheydin Dew (50:57):
Yeah. I gotta rotate one ’cause it’s not even, oh, this is gonna annoy me now.
Ethan Harris (51:08):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (51:09):
Oh man. I’m glad I kind of drew a skew because now it doesn’t have to be so symmetrical. I’m gonna
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:17):
No
Sheydin Dew (51:17):
Sam, I’m gonna call it a day there. Okay. And I’m just gonna dah.
Edmund Kearsley (51:22):
It’s kind of an organic sort of robotic thing. So <laugh> can’t help myself. Can I <laugh>?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:41):
Don’t think that’s the sound effect we were looking for. Nick mate.
Edmund Kearsley (51:46):
What’s that?
Sheydin Dew (51:48):
What sound effect you’re
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:48):
Writing Hands up and your filthy land. Luber. <laugh>.
Luka Palmer (51:53):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (51:56):
The diamond EB robot. monsters. A pirate as well. <laugh>. Let’s have a look at ’cause Oh, we’ll get some details.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:25):
We’ve got some what? Details.
Luka Palmer (52:33):
See? Oh yeah, we’re going with the car thing. Gonna add some little honk car honking noise
Sheydin Dew (52:45):
Down. That’s so good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:56):
Oh, gold. Well, Doug is excited as we speak
Luka Palmer (53:06):
Right there.
Sheydin Dew (53:07):
Heck yeah. Your lettering is actually really good as well. That’s so cool. I love it.
Luka Palmer (53:19):
Yeah, I tried to do the lettering for my comic traditionally for a little bit there, but I eventually got sick of it, but at least I can draw letters. Nice. And
Sheydin Dew (53:29):
Yeah, actually that’s a super good skill to have.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:34):
I have no such skill. <laugh>, my letters are horrible.
Sheydin Dew (53:41):
It just looks like it’s got so much character to it. It’s awesome.
Ethan Harris (53:44):
Thanks.
Edmund Kearsley (53:54):
And it reminds me of the Simpsons one.
Luka Palmer (53:58):
Oh yeah. Yeah, it’s a good one. That one.
Ethan Harris (54:02):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:26):
I am impressed. I got the three equally sized panels across the page and I thought that was hard enough.
Luka Palmer (54:34):
<laugh>,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:34):
You guys are killing it on all these angles. <laugh>
Luka Palmer (54:37):
Yes. A tricky one, but very cool.
Sheydin Dew (54:40):
Thanks sis.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:50):
Wanna check out what Ethan Ethan’s up to?
Edmund Kearsley (54:53):
Yes.
Sheydin Dew (54:54):
Yes. I actually need to look at Ethan’s real quick as well. Mm-Hmm.
Edmund Kearsley (54:57):
Oh cool.
Sheydin Dew (54:58):
Oh, okay, good. I wanted to know what kind of eyes you went for. Ethan and I we’re on the same wavelength. I coloured my eyes in black as well with a little white dot.
Ethan Harris (55:09):
I was very tempted to just like add something completely new. <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:15):
<laugh>.
Ethan Harris (55:15):
It’s too late to start now.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:21):
Well you can, but there’s one, there’s one rule. You gotta do an evil laugh while you do it. <laugh>.
Ethan Harris (55:30):
I did add some buzzing effects and sound. So
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:34):
Cool.
Ethan Harris (55:35):
the diamond panels have turned into mechanical wings.
Edmund Kearsley (55:41):
Yeah, that’s sick.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:43):
I like that
Luka Palmer (55:45):
Very go.
Sheydin Dew (55:49):
Oh man. I’m gonna have to add wings in as well. I guess I can just add a few more diamond sheets around it then.
Ethan Harris (56:00):
<laugh>.
Sheydin Dew (56:01):
Love it.
Edmund Kearsley (56:18):
Yeah, that’s looking really good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:23):
Yeah, they’re shading on. That’s wonderful.
Ethan Harris (56:26):
Thanks.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:43):
Sorry, I’m loving this old blank gasps at first. Next thing, there’s a gun that
Edmund Kearsley (57:10):
It is a, a black and white comic too, Ethan, so.
Ethan Harris (57:14):
Oh, okay.
Edmund Kearsley (57:15):
There was just gonna show. I
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:17):
Knew that was one thing. I forgot to say <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (57:25):
It did look cool with the red eyes. Yeah, I
Ethan Harris (57:27):
Thought I had a little touch. Just make it more sinister.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:33):
I don’t know. It looks pretty sinister. <laugh>. Yeah. I think you’ve done a pretty good job there.
Edmund Kearsley (58:02):
So it is about that time of the show for everyone to send in their stuff, their panels so we can Oh yeah. Build the page together and get an idea of what it’s gonna look like.
Sheydin Dew (58:15):
Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (58:17):
Send
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:20):
Send him a siz.
Edmund Kearsley (58:22):
Yeah, send it to Siz. Just a jpeg will be fine, I think.
Sheydin Dew (58:25):
Yeah. Just to the, to the same address that we use on drinker draws. Is that correct?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:32):
Oh, you can just send it through Messenger if that’s easier.
Sheydin Dew (58:34):
Oh, through Messenger? Yeah. Easy. Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:36):
This is only just to give a, a roundabout idea to everyone what the page is gonna look like.
Sheydin Dew (58:40):
Oh, dokey.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:41):
when you send me the real things in your emails. Definitely. Yeah.
Ethan Harris (58:46):
Gotcha. Nice.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:52):
And while you guys are chopping stuff up and keeping it together, I don’t think we need to watch you
Edmund Kearsley (58:59):
<laugh> the pages looking great or the panels are me.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:06):
Yeah. Okay. I’ll get over to my messenger. Ready to forward them on.
Ethan Harris (59:15):
Okay. So who am I sending these to? Sorry.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:22):
Shane del me. Great girl. Siz. <laugh>. Nice, nice. Just, just on Facebook Messenger will be fine. It doesn’t have to be. just normal JPEGs. Fantastic.
Ethan Harris (59:39):
There we go.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:41):
Thanking you Luca. Thank you.
Sheydin Dew (59:45):
Okay. You guys are gonna hate me but for some reason my messenger has logged me out. Oh
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:51):
No. If you’re having issues, just send it to the email. The usual one.
Sheydin Dew (59:54):
Awesome. All right, cool. I might just do, that’s because yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on with the messenger.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:20):
Almost there Ethan?
Ethan Harris (01:00:23):
Yep. I’m sending it through
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:26):
Now. You don’t have to send a finished one just so you know, just what you’re up to. Thank you very much. Now it’s just that troublesome shade.
Sheydin Dew (01:00:52):
I know for some reason it’s coming up on my iPad that I’ve got no internet connection, but obviously I am still connected to the internet. Yes. <laugh>. Would that be
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:01):
Interesting how you’re doing that? <laugh>?
Sheydin Dew (01:01:03):
Okay. Hold, I’ve got an idea. I’ve got an idea. I’m going to pull one of these. All right, let’s save this.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:11):
Where have I got my emails? Here we go. If you send it there, I can see it.
Sheydin Dew (01:01:16):
Okay. Gimme me one second. Let me just airdrop this to my computer and then I’ll send it on over.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:28):
We’re looking at that. I will put that there. Okay. Now to share my screen.
Sheydin Dew (01:01:54):
Okay. Let me know if you’ve got that sis. I think it was just something to do with my screen recording, so. Oh, okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:02):
Yes, I let me message.
Sheydin Dew (01:02:04):
Lovely. Awesome. Gucci,
Ethan Harris (01:02:07):
No worries.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:19):
Cool, cool, cool. Technically I should set, oh no, I can’t set this up at the beginning ’cause I need both screens. Let’s go have a look at that’s what we want. And who is it starting with?
(01:02:43)
Oh, oh, there we go. Oh, very cool. So we’re starting with hypothetical lad. That’s me, Luke Crazy’s known. So all it is is to give add a bit of a chance to put it together. We’re gonna go through your Instagram so everyone can see. So hypothetical lad. As you can see down the bottom of the screen as well is where you find Luca Palmer. he has lots of cool drawings here. I saw photos, more photos. Oh no, we’re looking at the pictures. Sorry. Sorry. <laugh>. Excellent artwork here. Lots of fun to look at.
Sheydin Dew (01:03:22):
Wow. Your character turnarounds are so cool. <laugh>. Thanks. Awesome.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:28):
I love you taking the arm off. I never thought to do that. how quickly are you going Ed? Should I fly through these? Yeah, I nearly didn’t. Cool then. EJ Harris Art, that’s Ethan. He’s got some cool art going on here as well. This is all Instagram for anyone watching Instagram. Oh wow. So some cool stuff here. Very, very cool stuff. Little guy with a big hat. Very cute. <laugh>,
Sheydin Dew (01:04:07):
There’s the comic. Heck yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Ethan Harris (01:04:10):
Yeah. That’s all I’ve got
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:11):
You guys here. Is there any comic you wanna push? Any Kickstarter, anything like that that you wanna talk about while I’m showing the Instagrams?
Sheydin Dew (01:04:20):
Tell us, tell us about your Comic Reaper. It’s so good. Yeah,
Ethan Harris (01:04:25):
Mine. so that was <laugh>. That is a comic I did based on more of the worlds. Oh, cool. I did a bit of spin on it where the alien is actually trying to be friendly <laugh>, but humans decide that it’s not. and that was a, a fresh printing in that little clip there of the comic. Oh, nice.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:51):
Oh, it’s a video. Sweet.
Ethan Harris (01:04:53):
Wow. it’s only eight pages. but it’s, yeah, probably the best one that Ive made. Very proud of that one. And then the other one image next to it or just above it in the middle there. that’s the one pages from my next comic.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:14):
Oh, cool.
Ethan Harris (01:05:15):
Yeah, actually I think there might be a couple pages there. If you flick through the, the gallery
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:22):
Is there. Oh, there’s a little, I hate those one. They’re white against white. Yeah.
Luka Palmer (01:05:26):
Yeah.
Ethan Harris (01:05:27):
These, the first couple pages. this one’s gonna be about 26 pages. It’s a bit of a bigger project. Oh, cool.
Luka Palmer (01:05:34):
Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:36):
That’s awesome.
Luka Palmer (01:05:37):
Yeah. Incredible.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:41):
Cool. Luca, did you have any pages on yours that I should be showing?
Luka Palmer (01:05:45):
No, not yet. I a bit of a secret up until now.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:49):
Oh, a bit of a secret. Ooh.
Luka Palmer (01:05:50):
Yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:52):
We can’t forget Shaden, although most of her seems to be filled with
Sheydin Dew (01:05:56):
Oh, that one’s my personal account. But you can push that too. Oh, sorry,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:59):
My
Luka Palmer (01:05:59):
Bad. <laugh>
Sheydin Dew (01:06:01):
My trip to career if anybody’s interested, but that’s fine. It’s public anyway, so that’s fine. It’s all good. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:07):
Is it like art at the end then? What am I going wrong? Tell
Sheydin Dew (01:06:10):
Me. I shaded Art <laugh>. I love it. I love it. So yeah, so my, my trip to the sun is very, very eventful.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:20):
Oh, I spelled it wrong
Sheydin Dew (01:06:21):
Randomly. SHEY.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:26):

Sheydin Dew (01:06:27):
DED
Luka Palmer (01:06:30):

Sheydin Dew (01:06:30):

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:44):
Look at what I loaded up, I just went Yep, yep, yep. Type it in. That’s
Luka Palmer (01:06:48):
Fine. You’re
Sheydin Dew (01:06:48):
Fine. You’re fine. Yeah. Like I said, it’s all public anyway, so I’ve got nothing to hide. It’s all G. but yeah, if anybody does follow the one scrolling at the bottom there, it is linked on my personal account, my art page. So you should be directed to the right one wherever you go. Oh, awesome.
Luka Palmer (01:07:03):
Yeah. Oh wow. Those colours are nice.
Sheydin Dew (01:07:09):
Yeah, so I, I’d like to think that colours are my, are my signature. so it was very, it was a really good breath of fresh air working in only black and white. So I think I need to do more of that just back to, you know, back to basics, you know.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:26):
Nice. And Ed’s looking very ready there, so I think I will unshare myself. Whoa. Almost did leave studio. <laugh>.
