Voice Over (00:09):
Let’s make a comic book, but let’s make it a little bit different. Instead of one person or a team making the whole book, we’re gonna have every panel made by a different cartoonist. We are gonna do one page per episode. So the number of guests is the number of panels on the page. So now you’re probably wondering, what’s this comic book gonna be about? Well, lemme tell you. It’s gonna be about a robot. This robot whose name is blank. What happens next? Nobody knows, but it’s gonna be fun finding out.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (00:48):
Oh, I did it again.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (00:50):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (00:52):
It’s

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (00:53):
Two episodes now. Sorry, ed.

Edmund Kearsley (00:55):
That’s all right. <laugh>, welcome to let’s make a comic book where we have a intro video that sometimes works <laugh>. Um, I made Kiley. I’m your host and we’ve got a Sid on the ones and twos pressing all the buttons. And so we’re gonna be making a page of a comic book tonight, and we’ve got three different artists. We’re gonna do a panel each, so we’ll, uh, introduce it to them. We have, uh, Tom, welcome to the show, and Laura Lou. And we’ve got Dana. Hello. Joining us tonight. So, um, we’ll get stuck into it. So we’ll do the, we’ll pick the order of drawing, so me to full screen.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:53):
You got your things. Oops.

Edmund Kearsley (01:57):
Do it again. I’ll stop.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:58):
We’re fighting each other.

Edmund Kearsley (02:00):
<laugh>. I’ve got three objects of redness to show you guys. I’m gonna start off with this guy. Yeah. This is a guy called Puzzler, and he’s a, from the, the Gobos or the Machine Men Toy Line. He’s one of the few, uh, combiners in that, that line. He’s got a, I love him. So that’s one of the choices. Another one is the classic Devastator from Transformers. Whoa. That this, uh, this green and purple colour scheme is like, whenever I see that, it’s crazy nostalgia for when I was a kid seeing those toys on the playground.

Laura Smith (02:49):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (02:50):
And then the last one is an actual Beast. Oh, wow. Wow. It’s, uh, Preda King. And he, uh, he’s the, the Decept one too. He’s quite heavy. ’cause some of his p parts are metal. If look how big he’s compared to Devastator, he’s a one of the smaller ones. <laugh>

DK (03:16):
Devastating.

Edmund Kearsley (03:17):
And I had a, um, my first Transformers comic ever got, had the, the Precon in it. So it’s cool to get this. And I want this in a raffle too, so it only cost me 65 bucks for the shipping.

Laura Smith (03:29):
Woohoo.

Edmund Kearsley (03:31):
Oh yeah. You get to choose one of these guys. This.

Laura Smith (03:33):
Oh, what? Okay.

Edmund Kearsley (03:36):
All right. <inaudible> a oh puzzle. I can’t hold ’em all up at once. ’cause it’s <inaudible>.

Laura Smith (03:42):
I, I just fell in love with puzzler straight away. Like those, those cars just look sick. <laugh>

Edmund Kearsley (03:49):
Puzzle is number one. Number

Laura Smith (03:51):
One. I like don’t.

Edmund Kearsley (03:55):
And

DK (03:56):
The second one, Laura, you the, uh, the green and blue one? Yeah, that one.

Laura Smith (04:02):
I like him. See

Edmund Kearsley (04:02):
You are number three.

DK (04:04):
No, I’ll pick the big one. <laugh>. I was gonna pick him anyway. <laugh> works out well. Yeah.

Edmund Kearsley (04:14):
I put these down without breaking them. Oh goodness. They’re all old and wiggly. Now we’re gonna have a look at the, these are the, the four panels choices that we’re gonna have tonight. So, um, we’re gonna go to, hold on, I’ll figure it out one day. All right. Then we’re gonna go to Dana. And you get to choose a number from the hand of choosing. Oh.

DK (04:50):
Um, let’s go One.

Edmund Kearsley (04:53):
One is number four. Four

Laura Smith (04:58):
Now four.

Edmund Kearsley (05:00):
Well, that is that one. The nice Oh, three step one one.

DK (05:10):
That’s nice. <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (05:20):
All right. So Tom was first.

Laura Smith (05:23):
Yeah. Cool.

Edmund Kearsley (05:23):
You can, oh, we’ll have a look at the last week’s page. ’cause that’s a, that’s a glorious thing. <laugh>, we had sis put his effort in with the, the dragon attack with the Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. Big dragon getting eaten by a bigger dragon and, uh, blank saying crap. And then we had Morgan Quaid with the dragon flying off after he is eaten the other one and leaving a little bit of something for a blank and blank saying Crap.

Laura Smith (06:00):
<laugh>. We

Edmund Kearsley (06:02):
Have Bo Roth’s page where we hard cut to blank in his kitchen saying, I believe in peace and forgiveness, but a robot’s gotta eat. And the dragon say, how did I end up here? And reserved for Aussie verse. And it’s a Isaac Asimov original poster in the background there. So you’ll be leading on from there. Uh, Tom.

Tom Magee (06:26):
Okay.

Edmund Kearsley (06:27):
To have fun with that.

Tom Magee (06:29):
Alright, let me just swap this over. Bam.

Edmund Kearsley (06:37):
Nice. So it’s the,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:42):
It’s buddy one.

Edmund Kearsley (06:45):
It’s the end run number four.

Tom Magee (06:47):
Oh, number four. Oh wait, we’re doing number four. Okay. My bad, bad.

Edmund Kearsley (06:51):
Which is, um,

Tom Magee (06:52):
This guy.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:53):
Oh, in the actual, yeah, that’s fine.

Edmund Kearsley (06:55):
Oh 3 0 9.

Tom Magee (06:57):
Sweet.

Edmund Kearsley (06:59):
That’s the one. So you got some, uh, comments already, sis, you.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:05):
Yeah, I was gonna get into those. I was waiting for us to figure out who was doing what. So we’ve got Beau saying, let’s go. And we’ve got Tom hopping into the chat himself and saying, OI, oi, uh, we’ve got Nick May. Hello Art humans. And then Bo is saying, hello, human art peeps. I up Nick. One up Nick. There you go.

Tom Magee (07:32):
Can I possibly see the last panel somewhere? Um, cool. Let’s have a look at that real, real quick again. So is that a severed head on a chopping board at the bottom there?

Edmund Kearsley (07:45):
Yeah, I think it’s the, the dragon side. I think

Tom Magee (07:47):
It’s the dragon. The head of the dragon. Okay. And then another egg. And I end up here. Okay, cool. All right. I think I got an idea here.

Laura Smith (08:06):
Oh,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (08:09):
I’m talking out loud, aren’t I? Um, hmm.

Edmund Kearsley (08:22):
Um, m gets going on his panel. You can have a chat with Dana and Laura. Um, did Dana, you’ve been, uh, doing comic books for a while now?

DK (08:38):
Yep. Um, yeah, so I started with Billy Bones in the Apocalypse, um, for about, gone on six or more years now, so Excellent. Been doing it for a while.

Edmund Kearsley (08:54):
So what’s, uh, Billy Bos?

DK (08:57):
Uh, so Billy Bos is a skeleton. Um, he used to be a human, a, uh, punk rock. Um, used to play guitar and, um, in a band. And he has a dog called Bob. And the zombie apocalypse happened and he began decaying, and he didn’t become a mindless zombie eating brains, he just stayed the same. So he just decayed over time and become a skeleton, um, with Bob as well. So Bob became a skeleton too. So, uh, the stories about them venturing through the apocalypse, trying to work out why they’re still normal, still functioning, but the skeletons.

Edmund Kearsley (09:53):
Excellent. So, Laura, did you know you are muted.

Laura Smith (09:57):
Yeah. So you don’t have to hear me just breathing when I’m not saying something. <laugh> <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (10:05):
So the Laura, um, how long have you been drawing and making comics and stuff like that?

Laura Smith (10:11):
Um, well, two very separate questions. I’ve been drawing for a really long time. Um, I started like, uh, what, 15 years ago at least. And I’m only 27, so makes up most of my life. Um, I started doing comics a year or two ago. Um, uh, I’ve only got the one comic out so far, but I’m working on my second one with my character Sophie, who is an astronaut seeking out all the different worlds. Um, for some reason I decided it would be a great idea to do a character that has no facial features, um, and make it a silent comic at the same time. So it’s quite an interesting endeavour to give emotion to <laugh>, a cre a character that can’t talk and doesn’t have a face. So it’s been interesting <laugh>,

Edmund Kearsley (11:04):
That’s a, it’s a like a really good exercise in forcing yourself to do all the storytelling through Yeah. Body language and stuff like that. And the, the surrounding, like the, the world and backgrounds and things.

Laura Smith (11:21):
Yeah, definitely. It’s so easy to fall into the habit of drawing someone in the same position every time. So it’s definitely made me, you know, do force camera angles and different positions and then learning what a body actually looks like in different positions. So it’s definitely been an endeavour, but it’s been good fun.

Edmund Kearsley (11:40):
Excellent. Um, um,

Tom Magee (11:44):
What’s the rules on getting a speech bubble on the outside of my panel? Is that, is that allowed or should I keep it all within the frame?

Edmund Kearsley (11:52):
You can have it, uh, outside the, the panel, but not outside the purple,

Tom Magee (11:57):
The red line

Edmund Kearsley (11:58):
Purple. Yeah, the purple the red line’s. The, the bleed thing. And if you want, um, I can later the, the panel for you or you can do it yourself if you want.

Tom Magee (12:14):
I think I’ll be all right. Littering it. I like doing my handwritten letters.

Edmund Kearsley (12:18):
Sweet.

Tom Magee (12:20):
It’s my beloved. Across the ocean in a bottle.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:26):
I, we’ve got Nick quick saying, south Aussies ripping

Laura Smith (12:30):
You.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:31):
Nice. And we’ve got a clapping to the Sophie Chronicle from Facebook user, whoever that is.

Edmund Kearsley (12:40):
Thank

Laura Smith (12:41):
You. Facebook user. <laugh>, <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:47):
<laugh>. And Jackie’s like, hello, sausage, sizzle and gang. I think that’s his favourite comment for anything. I mean,

Edmund Kearsley (12:53):
<laugh>, I see that comment a lot on the, the comment comics live streams.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:02):
Yeah. <laugh>. Oh, there, I’ve just been, I just found out Adam Gille Gillespie is the, um, Facebook user. There

Laura Smith (13:12):
We go. Hi Adam. Sorry, Adam,

Edmund Kearsley (13:18):
Do you wanna put um, Tom’s screen up big so everyone can see?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:23):
Yeah, yeah, sure.

Edmund Kearsley (13:25):
The craziness that he’s got going on there.

Laura Smith (13:30):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:35):
Oh, I wanna know what all this is.

Edmund Kearsley (13:37):
Hmm. It’s looking interesting.

Tom Magee (13:44):
Hmm. I think that’s all right for the red lines first. I think I’ll get into the inks now and then you’ll really take shape.

Edmund Kearsley (13:58):
You wanna tell us what’s going on?

Tom Magee (14:01):
Oh, yeah. Um, score. So, so, uh, he’s ching down on that egg, and then there’s something hidden in the egg and it’s cracking his tooth, his robot tooth.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:16):
Oh,

Edmund Kearsley (14:16):
Nice. It’s a diamond in there.

Tom Magee (14:19):
Yeah. Or something. Who knows? Up to interpretation for the next panel.

Laura Smith (14:24):
<laugh>

Tom Magee (14:26):
Here. Sorry.

Edmund Kearsley (14:28):
Is that enough for you to go on with the, is that Dana?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:32):
Um, I think Dana’s third. Yeah,

Laura Smith (14:34):
I think so. I think I’m sure.

Edmund Kearsley (14:37):
No, she sure. Pretty keen he is. Got two on back. Whoops. And I’m just fell off devastated.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:53):
So, Laura,

Laura Smith (14:55):
Me, I think I’m three.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:57):
Is Laura a second? Isn’t it because Dana picked the hand?

Edmund Kearsley (15:01):
No, Dana’s, Dana’s second. I

Laura Smith (15:03):
Think Dana’s

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (15:04):
A second. My bad.

Edmund Kearsley (15:07):
Get with it. Si. So I’ve got a couple more comments. I can see sis,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (15:20):
Um, oh, I’m not seeing ’em. I, the last one I saw Sausage sizzle.

Edmund Kearsley (15:26):
That is correct.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (15:28):
Are you seeing more?

Edmund Kearsley (15:30):
No, I just hadn’t updated it since the, since the last one. So while we’ve got Tom’s, uh, screen up, but, uh, I’ll ask him the same question. So how long have you been drawing comic books for?

Tom Magee (15:54):
Um, I’d say at this point, I start, I started my first like, real crack in a comic, um, back in like 2017. So yeah, six years. Yeah. Nice. Um, I’ve been doing some things here and there, the, like, the whole time I’ve been drawing, honestly, I think I remember the first comic I did was a little strip of, uh, some character named radio, um, and spelled weird, like, like radio or something like that. And, uh, it, it was just like two panels. It was like, he’s like watching TV and then his sister has to get him for dinner and he doesn’t want to go eat dinner. Let’s watch tv. But, um, digging that out of, uh, the cupboard at my mom’s house recently was such a trip going like, oh man, I’ve been at this for a bit. Like, this has been in my brain for a long time.

Edmund Kearsley (16:58):
Excellent.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:08):
So I’m just loving watching you draw. So <laugh>,

Edmund Kearsley (17:12):
It’s fun watching people draw.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:18):
I’m really bad in the live, live streams where we watch someone draw, I always forget that I’m meant to be there to interact

Laura Smith (17:25):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:27):
And I just start watching the person draw and then it’s like, oh, hang on. I’m of the show.

Edmund Kearsley (17:38):
Well, uh, uh, question for Laura. Um, what’s your favourite comic or comic that you’re reading the moment

Laura Smith (17:50):
That you enjoy? Um, oh, am I allowed to say my own? Uh, no, it’s <laugh>.

(17:56)
Oh, there’s so many of them. It sounds so stupid, but I think from my brother’s comic. So my brother’s also a comic artist and he’s done a lot of comics. He pumps them out faster than Stephen King pumps out books. Um, but he did one recently that is a Sweeny Todd crossover with um, uh, Jack Ripper as investigator by Sherlock Holmes. And it’s just, you know, it’s just a little bit of a ridiculous premise, but also very, you know, with the time of when Jack the Ripper was there, it lines up properly. Um, so I just really like what he did with it. Um, so it’s probably one of my favourite comics at the moment. But otherwise I always love, you know, your classics, your spidermans, your Batman’s, um, Batman’s probably my favourite of the more mainstream ones, so.

Edmund Kearsley (18:54):
Excellent. Dana, how about you? Favourite comic?

DK (19:01):
Favourite comic? Um,

Edmund Kearsley (19:04):
Okay. Reading one.

DK (19:06):
I’m actually not reading one at the moment. <laugh>? Um, yeah, I just haven’t had time, but, um, probably my favourite one’s to read are Simpsons comics. <laugh>.

Tom Magee (19:18):
Hell yeah. Um,

DK (19:19):
Yeah, just love the just comedy, um, comics. They’re fun.

Edmund Kearsley (19:28):
The Simpson comics are great.

DK (19:30):
Yeah.

Laura Smith (19:33):
I’ve never actually read one of the Simpsons comics.

Tom Magee (19:35):
Oh, they’re so good. <laugh> grew up

Edmund Kearsley (19:38):
On those. The Halloween ones are good too. ’cause they’re getting Yes. Lots of different artists and stuff to, to do the, the Halloween specials.

Laura Smith (19:48):
Oh, that’s cool.

Laura Smith (19:59):
That’s cool.

Edmund Kearsley (20:00):
Take a Tom’s drawings come along.

Tom Magee (20:05):
I get a little crack in his tooth there and make it look real painful. <laugh>.

DK (20:09):
Ouch.

Tom Magee (20:11):
If you’ve read any page of my comic, my web comic brain drain, you know, I really like to put my characters through a lot of pain. <laugh> <laugh> just got a lot to figure out behind the scenes here. You know what I mean?

Edmund Kearsley (20:30):
Have you started drawing Dana?

DK (20:32):
Not yet. <laugh> Gretchen. And soon out

Laura Smith (20:38):
She got distracted. Yeah.

Laura Smith (20:52):
Okay. I’ll set drawing.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:56):
At least, you know, the shape of the thing it’s doing is too thin now. Too

Laura Smith (21:00):
Diamond

Laura Smith (21:06):
Now I’m always gonna think about diamonds when I have eggs.

Tom Magee (21:11):
<laugh>, you worried about having a diamond in your egg?

Laura Smith (21:13):
I’m like, what if there’s a diamond in here? Never know, man. How will I rule it out?

Laura Smith (21:20):
<laugh>?

Laura Smith (21:22):
I don’t know enough about science.

Edmund Kearsley (21:28):
I suppose you could put in the

Tom Magee (21:29):
Blender.

Laura Smith (21:30):
You could put it in the

Edmund Kearsley (21:31):
Blender and if it doesn’t make any noises, then you know, there’s no diamonds in them.

Laura Smith (21:35):
And if it does, then I could be rich Egg diamonds. That’s kind of diamond.

Edmund Kearsley (21:42):
Could be a whole new industry.

Laura Smith (21:45):
I mean, it sounds renewable

Laura Smith (21:47):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (21:49):
Yeah. Minerals extracted from the earth. Renewable?

Laura Smith (21:53):
Well, no, no. ’cause these ones are extracted from a chicken, so.

Tom Magee (21:57):
Oh yeah, you’re right. Right. We just need a couple magic dragons dragon.

Laura Smith (22:01):
Yeah. Get some magic dragons. They’re findable. Super common.

Tom Magee (22:06):
Easy

Laura Smith (22:07):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (22:09):
All right.

Laura Smith (22:10):
Are you telling me you’ve never seen a magic dragon in real life?

Tom Magee (22:13):
Oh, I’ve seen one. I’ve seen one, one or two I’ve,

Laura Smith (22:23):
Um, I think,

Tom Magee (22:30):
Yeah. All right. I’ll just do this though. Easy way.

Laura Smith (22:37):
Easy <laugh>.

Laura Smith (22:40):
This is when you get AI to do it for you. <laugh>

Tom Magee (22:50):
Stick on live stream. You’re

Laura Smith (22:53):
So welcome.

Laura Smith (22:55):
I live to Please

Tom Magee (22:58):
No, get the old paint bucket out. Ooh. Pinky bucket. As they say in the industry.

Laura Smith (23:04):
That’s the official term.

Tom Magee (23:06):
Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:10):
And, uh, Nick may likes your idea of being, uh, your own comic, being your favourite

Tom Magee (23:16):
<laugh>,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (23:16):
But he also likes Ed comics.

Laura Smith (23:22):
Alright,

Edmund Kearsley (23:25):
Well thank you Nick.

Laura Smith (23:28):
Sometimes he just gotta give some self love to your own comics.

Edmund Kearsley (23:34):
He just likes my ones ’cause I named my characters after him.

Laura Smith (23:38):
<laugh>

Laura Smith (23:38):
<laugh>. It’s a good way to get a fan base.

Edmund Kearsley (23:46):
Hmm. It’s called Pandering

Tom Magee (23:52):
<laugh>.

DK (23:53):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (23:54):
It works great. So he says you’ve got a big show coming up tomorrow night.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:12):
Yes. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Friday night. Drink and draw. Woo. So, um, that’s gonna be fun and I’ve actually drawn a picture for it for once.

DK (24:28):
Yay.

Laura Smith (24:28):
Yay.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:31):
This whole, um, live streaming and people drawing and stuff has sort of sparked something in me.

Tom Magee (24:41):
I love that. Yeah. I always get really hyped up watching your shows here at the Comics Network.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (24:48):
Awesome. Thanks man.

Tom Magee (24:52):
Yeah, I think I like, uh, talking and reading and or I, I like talking about and, um, reading about comics as much as I like reading them and making them, you know, like almost more. Yeah. Mainly ’cause of that just gets me really hyped to actually do it.

Laura Smith (25:15):
And I guess it can be pretty lonely being an artist, especially when you’re not working on a project with someone. So

Tom Magee (25:22):
Yeah, for sure.

Laura Smith (25:23):
Having people you interact with definitely gives a little sense to it.

Tom Magee (25:31):
Move the end a couple more years.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (25:40):
Um, yeah, Nick May says that’s part of it, ed, but they’re also ruddy. Good. So yeah.

Edmund Kearsley (25:48):
Thank you very much. Should we have a look at, uh, Dana’s drawing?

DK (25:59):
Okay.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (26:00):
Yep.

DK (26:02):
<laugh>. Yep. <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (26:04):
I was just waiting for Dana to say something then I was just wondering. Oh yeah. Ooh.

Tom Magee (26:15):
Very nice.

DK (26:17):
Should I explain? No,

Laura Smith (26:23):
Do it. Explain it.

DK (26:25):
Okay. <laugh>

Tom Magee (26:26):
Comics worth explaining

DK (26:28):
This far. He’s, um, in pain then he realises it’s a diamond. So he is like, wow. And then he’s got slippery fingers and he goes

Laura Smith (26:42):
Flying out of his hand and he drops it. Oh, dear. Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (26:51):
So you’ve got a missing diamond. Well,

Laura Smith (26:56):
<laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (26:57):
Depends where it falls. I guess.

Edmund Kearsley (27:00):
<laugh>

Laura Smith (27:02):
Could be anywhere. Yeah. Where could it be? Dun dun.

Edmund Kearsley (27:10):
Is that enough for you to start drawing Laura?

Laura Smith (27:13):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:16):
Yeah. I’ll shut up this time about the order. So, <laugh>,

Laura Smith (27:20):
Are we sure it’s me? <laugh>?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:22):
Yeah. I’m pretty sure Now you know

Edmund Kearsley (27:25):
Yourself

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:26):
Instead of going by instinct.

Laura Smith (27:28):
All things considered probably me

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:37):
A diamond in the rough Andrew law says

Laura Smith (27:41):
Yes. A diamond in the Grub.

Laura Smith (27:46):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (27:50):
No, no. It’s a, it’s a diamond in the blank. You are <laugh>. I like the night scene you just went for there, Tom.

Tom Magee (28:23):
Yeah. I’m just playing with, uh, temporality. You know, <laugh> going in and out. I have that power as a, as a God of the page. You know, I get to turn, turn the lights on and off. I’m the director

Laura Smith (28:35):
Of how to turn the lights on and off in real life.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (28:39):
Wow.

Tom Magee (28:40):
What shit.

Laura Smith (28:41):
<laugh>. <laugh> pretty fancy. I’m messing you.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (28:44):
Sorry to get your order wrong. Don’t hurt me.

Laura Smith (28:49):
Turn your lights off. <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (28:51):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (28:53):
I got your legs switch. Ready?

Laura Smith (28:55):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (29:21):
Let’s have a look at, um, Tom’s.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (29:26):
Yep. It’s, go back to Tom. He’s

Edmund Kearsley (29:28):
Got some stuff going on there.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (29:30):
Oh. Ooh.

Edmund Kearsley (29:48):
Some good sound effects.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (29:51):
Love it.

Edmund Kearsley (29:55):
Do you guys ever read any Don Martin from Mad Magazine?

Tom Magee (30:01):
I, I recall Mad Magazine, but I don’t recall the artist. Maybe I’ve seen it though.

Edmund Kearsley (30:08):
He always did. Crazy sound effects. <laugh>.

Tom Magee (30:10):
Nice.

Laura Smith (30:15):
Let’s get it. Let’s do that

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:27):
Now. I’m curious where this egg came from that it had the diamond in it. <laugh>

Edmund Kearsley (30:31):
Came out of the eyeball.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:33):
Oh, I, oh, okay.

Laura Smith (30:36):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (30:37):
I thought that egg turned into a monster. I’m confused now. I thought it was a New egg. I thought it might have come from, well, I’d rather not say

Edmund Kearsley (30:49):
Is that little You can see in the background on Chris’s one, the little monster maybe that guy, someone else on, um, Brent’s one.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:07):
Hmm.

Edmund Kearsley (31:08):
He just came to have a look for a panel. Maybe it’s the, oh, I won’t say that.

Laura Smith (31:19):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (31:20):
<laugh>. See that’s what I said. I’ve already said it except off camera.

Edmund Kearsley (31:35):
That fill bucket looks cool the way that it spreads out.

Tom Magee (31:38):
Oh, I love it. Yeah. It’s a little temperamental as you can see, <laugh>. But, um, and so I said you just drag and drop it. Love procreate. Create app to draw, I think. And it’s a one time payment. Don’t have to worry about certain companies gouging you monthly subscriptions.

Laura Smith (31:59):
But I love having to pay lots and lots of money for things. It makes me feel rich.

Tom Magee (32:05):
Are you okay?

Laura Smith (32:09):
The kids are not right.

Tom Magee (32:11):
The kids are not. All right.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:18):
As a web developer, um, I pay a lot of things on monthly and yearly fees.

Tom Magee (32:26):
You bet.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:28):
So I feel very rich now thanks to that logic,

Laura Smith (32:31):
<laugh>. You are so welcome. I’m glad I could provide this perspective to you. <laugh>. I’m

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:36):
Gonna go up the shop and go I’m rich. I’ve got no money to pay for food, but I’m Rich <laugh>.

DK (32:41):
I’ve been calling. He needs food. When you

Laura Smith (32:43):
Could be rich

DK (32:45):
<laugh>

Tom Magee (32:47):
Good to see your money, right?

DK (32:49):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:57):
I have a, a Rich,

Edmund Kearsley (32:59):
You can go to the shop and say, how many software subscriptions do you have?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:03):
Yeah. <laugh>.

DK (33:05):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (33:08):
They’ll be so impressed by your richness. They’ll give you stuff for free.

Tom Magee (33:12):
Yeah, dude,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:12):
I love it. I’m trying this tomorrow.

DK (33:15):
Do it trick yourself.

Tom Magee (33:16):
Not strangely. I feel like that’s how things work though. Like the more popular and rich you are, like the more people want to give you stuff for free. Like the, the whole celebrity influencer thing

Laura Smith (33:27):
As an obviously rich person, that’s definitely my experience.

Edmund Kearsley (33:41):
Let’s have a look at, um, Laura’s Jordan.

Laura Smith (33:48):
Come look at the weird little eggs.

DK (33:51):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (33:53):
Oh

DK (33:53):
Goodness. Oh my goodness.

Laura Smith (33:55):
Oh, sorry. Hold on. Y’all gonna wanna see the whole panel.

Tom Magee (33:58):
Oh my God, it’s a alive. Oh,

Edmund Kearsley (33:59):
That’s so good.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:01):
That is awesome.

Edmund Kearsley (34:03):
Everything turns into different stuff in this comic. It’s like,

Laura Smith (34:06):
It’s a bab of a comic,

Edmund Kearsley (34:10):
Like a transformer <laugh>.

Laura Smith (34:14):
Sometimes you just gotta transform like a transformer.

Edmund Kearsley (34:19):
It’s gotta roll out.

DK (34:23):
Roll out.

Laura Smith (34:29):
Ah,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:31):
Does this mean that the combiner bots or whatever they’re called influenced your story? Come on, ed. You’re not meant to influence the story.

Tom Magee (34:39):
Combiner

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (34:39):
Bots, isn’t that the rules?

Tom Magee (34:41):
<laugh>, just call them combiner bots.

DK (34:44):
<laugh>. He did.

Tom Magee (34:45):
That’s amazing.

Edmund Kearsley (34:47):
But they, the term for the ones that join together are combiners.

Tom Magee (34:52):
Oh, okay. Okay. <laugh>. <laugh>. Yeah, I knew that. Yeah. I was just testing both of y’all, you know, testing

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:00):
Both. No, thanks. I like to be tested.

Tom Magee (35:02):
<laugh>

Laura Smith (35:04):
Said no one ever.

Tom Magee (35:07):
Oh God. I hate pop Quizzing

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:09):
Except crazy

Laura Smith (35:25):
<affirmative>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:26):
That’s really cool. I like that. Mm-Hmm.

Laura Smith (35:28):
<affirmative>.

Edmund Kearsley (35:30):
And the whole page is coming together

DK (35:32):
Myself.

Laura Smith (35:37):
No,

Edmund Kearsley (35:42):
It’s, the great thing about this show is the, everyone’s got like different ideas of what to do and

Laura Smith (35:50):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. It’s cool.

Edmund Kearsley (35:56):
They like, I was thinking because of, uh, ’cause Bo killed off all the guys in the, the last page that it’d be kind of a, a reset or something to the story, but you guys have just kept it going.

Laura Smith (36:12):
Yeah.

Edmund Kearsley (36:13):
Gotta keep it going. Yeah.

Laura Smith (36:15):
Love it. When nothing, if not considerate to the continuation of a story. I say drawing awful lines. <laugh>. I fixed it.

Edmund Kearsley (36:28):
Awful lines are the best ones.

Laura Smith (36:30):
Awful lines are the best ones. Always said that in life. Never once have I said any other saying.

Edmund Kearsley (36:41):
That’s why we asked you in the show.

Laura Smith (36:44):
<laugh> in yours for something.

Edmund Kearsley (36:58):
You can see Dana’s got some Oh yes. Progress on her page. On her panel. Oh, there we go.

Laura Smith (37:09):
Ooh,

Edmund Kearsley (37:11):
<laugh>. That’s so good.

Laura Smith (37:13):
I’m always amazed at how such quicker draw you are. Dana <laugh>. I don’t know how Yeah, you’re just like, boom. Entire comic <laugh>. And I’m like, yes. This diamond should have one more line. <laugh> go. Ouch. O Is it

Laura Smith (37:46):
W

Laura Smith (37:46):
Is it CHOU? Yeah.

Laura Smith (37:50):
Just add a bunch of

Edmund Kearsley (37:51):
Vowels. That will be

Laura Smith (37:52):
That CH Just do a bunch of

Edmund Kearsley (38:29):
Are you doing another live stream on Saturday? Si.

Laura Smith (38:33):
Yeah, I’m doing another one. I

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (38:34):
Just thought I’d put that up one. ’cause I think I’ll butcher that word in the middle there. Um, yes, I’m doing an amateur hour on Saturday, one 30 my time. So two 30 the lower states and I don’t know, two o’clock for you Southern Australians. And um, let’s see if I can work it out quickly. 1130 for the Western Australians. Um, yeah, I’m drawing Wonder Woman. I’ve been told to draw, so that’s nice. So I did Wolverine last week. Blue Beetle the week before that blank and Superman in my first week.

Edmund Kearsley (39:29):
Does.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:31):
And all that drawing has encouraged me to draw for drink and draw <laugh>. I think I went a little bit too far for a show that’s meant to be an hour worth of drawing. I took about three days. <laugh>, it’s the same three days. One hour, same thing.

Laura Smith (39:49):
I mean they both consist of hours.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:52):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.

Tom Magee (39:54):
There are hours. I see.

Laura Smith (39:54):
No problem.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:57):
Excellent. If anyone has any problems, Laura’s just there.

Laura Smith (40:02):
I’m right here. <laugh>, I’ll challenge you

Edmund Kearsley (40:10):
That, uh, the message before from Nick me was, everyone’s panels are simpatico tonight.

Tom Magee (40:18):
Hell yeah. What’s that mean? <laugh>?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:21):
Yep. I’m

Tom Magee (40:22):
With sounded positive. <laugh>.

Laura Smith (40:26):
I’m glad someone asked.

Laura Smith (40:28):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (40:29):
Is it Italian?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:31):
I dunno what it means. And I wasn’t even prepared to pronounce it. So <laugh>.

Tom Magee (40:35):
I’m too scared to ask.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:37):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (40:38):
<inaudible>.

Laura Smith (40:40):
Google tells me Likeable and easy to get on with.

Tom Magee (40:45):
Hell yeah.

Laura Smith (40:46):
Here we go. Having or characterised by shared attributes or interests. Compatible. There we go.

Tom Magee (40:52):
Nerd.

Laura Smith (40:53):
That makes more sense than the first one. <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:56):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (40:59):
Cool. I actually think I’m done. So

Edmund Kearsley (41:02):
Well, let’s see.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (41:03):
Let’s have a look. Sweet.

Tom Magee (41:07):
We can fit it all in here. There you go. You can see that.

Laura Smith (41:10):
Ooh, <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (41:12):
I like the fan. Ceiling fan.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (41:15):
Oh, ceiling fan. Nice, nice touch.

Tom Magee (41:18):
Bit of the environmental immersion, you know,

Laura Smith (41:22):
Gives context.

Tom Magee (41:24):
Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (41:26):
Love it.

Tom Magee (41:31):
All right. See you guys.

Laura Smith (41:36):
Bye.

Tom Magee (41:37):
My work is done here.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (41:40):
Excellent.

Tom Magee (41:41):
Uh, so you want me to send this image to you, um, as it is or?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (41:46):
Yeah. Um, you can just message that to me so we can put a mock up together of everyone’s at the end. Yeah, cool. But for the actual comic, um, a high res version email to me would be awesome.

Tom Magee (41:59):
Yeah, no worries.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:07):
Cool. I will put someone else in

Edmund Kearsley (42:22):
<laugh> that just sawing. So pretty

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:25):
<laugh>. So cool. <laugh>. So pretty <laugh>. Reggie gave you guys a Yahoo. A woohoo.

Laura Smith (42:43):
Woohoo.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:46):
Reggie’s from the Philippines. He likes to watch this show.

Edmund Kearsley (42:50):
Hey Reggie,

Laura Smith (42:51):
That’s pretty cool. What’s up Reggie from the Philippines.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (43:09):
He is got sausage fingers, <laugh>. And um, just like to point this out, I, I don’t think I’ve seen a comment from you Reggie on Saturday. What about my show?

Edmund Kearsley (43:24):
He’s busy

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (43:26):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (43:28):
He’s watching reruns of the other shows on

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (43:30):
Saturday. It’s all about Ed <laugh>. Now you’re saying it’s all good guys. So is he He’s liking what you’re drawing

Laura Smith (43:42):
Amp of approval received.

Laura Smith (43:45):
I

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:10):
Do you wanna switch over to Laura for a bit?

Edmund Kearsley (44:14):
Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:21):
Give DK some alone time.

Laura Smith (44:23):
Are you all perceiving me right now?

Laura Smith (44:26):
Oh my God. You’re being perceived.

Laura Smith (44:28):
I’m being perceived. I dunno if I signed up to be perceived when I came onto a live stream. <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:35):
<laugh>. Oh, Reggie answered me. He got busy with family. There you go. <laugh>.

Laura Smith (44:45):
I’ll allow

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:46):
That. Reggie, I’m just kidding. Around.

Edmund Kearsley (45:08):
That little diamond robot reminds me of the, the scalp droids from the start of empire. The imperial ones that drop into the ice.

Laura Smith (45:18):
Oh my gosh. Yes.

Edmund Kearsley (45:20):
Look at all the legs hanging down the bottom.

Laura Smith (45:27):
You are correct. I see that. I see what you see.

Laura Smith (45:32):
<laugh>

Laura Smith (45:40):
At the uh, for some reason I always skip the first panel of anything that I do. I am like, oh, I’ll come back to that later. <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (45:50):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (45:51):
It’s like when you get a new sketchbook and you’re like, I could start on page one or I could start literally anywhere else.

Edmund Kearsley (46:15):
So you’re drawing in Photoshop Laura, is that

Laura Smith (46:20):
Right? Yeah. Yeah. This is my proof of wealth paying for Photoshop subscriptions. <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (46:27):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (46:29):
Do you normally not drawing on it, but you thought ’cause of the live show to show off?

Laura Smith (46:35):
Uh, no. I am normally in Photoshop. I have to remind myself as well that it’s there. But in my, uh, my task bar down the bottom, so I log in and it’s just like, remember you’re paying for me. I’m like, I better draw some art today.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (46:50):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (46:52):
I actually draw traditionally more than I draw digitally though.

Edmund Kearsley (46:55):
Oh, cool. Oh.

Laura Smith (46:59):
But all my um, comic is tradit is digital and most of my art goes through digitization before it’s available for sales. So get them vibrant colours. Book I say working in black and white.

Laura Smith (47:22):
Can you hear that? Sorry. It’s a dog toy. Yeah,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:26):
That sizzle. Sorry, I heard my name. It was that you squeaking the dog toy? No, I wish it was Loves

Laura Smith (47:42):
Me. Are we gonna have to get you a dog toy for your birthday?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:46):
<laugh> Well’s coming up soon? Great idea.

Laura Smith (47:48):
Perfect. Put it on your wishlist.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:51):
I will.

Laura Smith (47:51):
I’ll send it over. I

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (47:52):
Put it on my, um, I know. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Laura Smith (47:59):
You’ll put it on your Amazon wishlist and we’ll all send you sausage sizzle dog toys.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (48:05):
<laugh>, how you going? dk. All right. Nearly there. Ooh. Flying through ’em today. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.

Laura Smith (48:58):
I can’t decide if this do need like little antennas.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:02):
Yeah, do it.

Laura Smith (49:04):
Do it. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. Give him some little antenna. It seems vaguely important. Somehow

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:27):
I won’t comment. I don’t wanna influence. I’ll get in trouble. <laugh>,

Laura Smith (49:34):
That sounds like a strong guest to the tiny little antenna <laugh>. Activated

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (49:51):
<laugh>. I mean I’m totally indifferent to that.

Laura Smith (49:58):
Says with an absolutely please tone of voice.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (50:03):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (50:04):
You watch, I raise him and he’ll just be like, no, I’m done. We can leave now. <laugh> storms up. I’m very confident in my tiny little un antennas in case you couldn’t tell. Why did I give myself a very geometric drawing when I’m very bad at <laugh> trick drawings?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (50:30):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (50:32):
I literally brought this upon myself.

Edmund Kearsley (50:35):
That’s always the way.

Laura Smith (50:37):
So always way.

Edmund Kearsley (50:38):
I keep writing crowd scenes into my stories as well. So I keep drawing.

Laura Smith (50:45):
We apparently like to suffer.

Edmund Kearsley (50:48):
Hmm.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:07):
Hi Dave. He’s telling us he’s just arrived. What? He missed. You missed a party dude.

Edmund Kearsley (51:16):
Missed everything Dave.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:17):
One time. Oh, sorry.

Laura Smith (51:22):
Missed at least one thing.

Edmund Kearsley (51:30):
Let’s have a look at Dana’s.

DK (51:33):
I think you’re done as well. I added tears.

Edmund Kearsley (51:40):
<laugh>.

DK (51:41):
That’s great. Sad.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:43):
Awesome.

Tom Magee (51:44):
Robo tears.

DK (51:46):
Yes. Tears.

Edmund Kearsley (51:55):
Excellent.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:58):
That’s cool. <laugh>. Oh, I love the so pretty

DK (52:04):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (52:11):
Why’s his fingers all buttery off from making the eggs for sure. <laugh>?

Edmund Kearsley (52:15):
Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:18):
I dunno. I saw a knife next to the slip free

DK (52:20):
Robot.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:21):
The things on the table. So maybe it was from chopping up whatever was over there.

Edmund Kearsley (52:26):
Butter is a whisk. Is that a whisk or a spoon at the bottom?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:29):
Yeah. I’m

Laura Smith (52:30):
Not sure. I thought it was a whisk.

Tom Magee (52:31):
Looks like a whisk. Yeah.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:33):
Ooh. Scramble eggs. Hmm.

Laura Smith (52:37):
It wasn’t supposed to be, but he is not a very good cook. He wanted to do sunny side up

Edmund Kearsley (52:43):
<laugh>.

DK (52:45):
Who’s got a dog that’s squeaking in the background.

Tom Magee (52:50):
Yeah, it’s my housemate’s dog. Um, she’s playing with her right now. Um, <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (52:55):
Sorry about that.

Laura Smith (52:57):
I love that. We did have an entire conversation about this and you were that tuned out.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:16):
That’s really cool. I’ve actually planned ahead this time for other shows, but I don’t wanna announce anything <laugh>. ’cause people change their mind or things come up.

Laura Smith (53:41):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:47):
I mean the last, what are we up to? Page eight. So seven. The last six episodes. I’ve just organised people like on Wednesday. Don’t tell Ed though. Don’t tell Ed <laugh>. But I’ve just organised people on Wednesday so this time I actually, you know, ask people a week beforehand.

Laura Smith (54:06):
Yeah. It’s not your fault. I only responded properly yesterday. <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:10):
<laugh>. I wasn’t gonna say anything.

Laura Smith (54:13):
<laugh> just have to keep people guessing. Keep ’em on their toes.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:23):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (54:25):
Will Laura answer me? We’ll never know. I like to think if nothing else, I’m self-aware.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:52):
So this is like class I get to, to learn from new proper artists.

Laura Smith (55:00):
Oh my God, you guys, he called us proper artists.

Tom Magee (55:03):
Yeah, I was gonna say Proper

Laura Smith (55:05):
<laugh>. Proper Ooh, fancy

Tom Magee (55:09):
Day. 533. My rules is still working. They think I’m a real artist.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:15):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (55:17):
They must never know the truth. I once got told by a traditional artist who had just sold three pieces in an art show that he was trying to be an artist too. I’m like, you just $10,000 in one day. My dude. What <laugh>? It’s like, yeah, but you know, I’m like, I dunno, <laugh>.

Tom Magee (55:42):
I don’t think I’ve ever owned $10,000 at one time.

Laura Smith (55:45):
Yeah, it’s a lot of dollars.

Tom Magee (55:47):
That’s a bunch of dollar dues. That’s

Laura Smith (55:49):
A bunch of dollar dues. That’s like almost all the dollar dues

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:54):
I’ve owed that much. I don’t think I’ve ever had that much.

Laura Smith (55:57):
I’ve definitely owed that much

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:00):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (56:01):
But yeah, he like just sold all the pieces he’d brought to this art show and he’s like, yeah, I’m trying. I’m like, I mean you make me feel confident in my abilities. So thank you <laugh>. This is you trying. Cute. Do we sign the

Tom Magee (56:24):
Oh yeah, we gotta sign it.

Edmund Kearsley (56:25):
You can if you want.

DK (56:27):
Okay. I’m going to follow your house.

Tom Magee (56:30):
I already sent one.

Edmund Kearsley (56:32):
You can, you can, you could um, do it and send it for the high res version.

Tom Magee (56:42):
Yeah. Not good idea.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:43):
Yeah,

DK (56:46):
Well it’s a bit big isn’t it? <laugh>?

Laura Smith (56:53):
<laugh>

DK (56:57):
Takes up the whole, it’s the most

Laura Smith (56:58):
Important part of the panel. You just like, no, no, no, no. Ignore that.

Tom Magee (57:01):
Drawn by me and nobody else.

DK (57:04):
I did this, my name. It’s better we go done. Yeah. Excellent.

Laura Smith (57:23):
You did it.

DK (57:25):
Thanks.

Laura Smith (57:26):
You’re welcome.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:29):
Awesome. Oh well in that case, if you’re finished we probably shouldn’t just sit there and stare at your picture, which would be cool.

DK (57:40):
<laugh> and look at feel free to

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:42):
Or look at someone who’s still working because that’s more interesting.

Laura Smith (57:45):
Is it me? It was me? Yes. Yeah,

Tom Magee (57:48):
It’s you.

Laura Smith (57:50):
It was me all along.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:58):
Gonna see

DK (57:59):
What

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:59):
I’m doing. Hello. Michael Den. Hmm? You

Laura Smith (58:03):
Say hello?

Edmund Kearsley (58:04):
Hello? Michael.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:25):
Oh, dk. You can send me just a quick copy of that. Um Okay. On messenger will be fine. And then I’ll get a high res one off here to my email.

Laura Smith (58:35):
Okay.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:35):
Because that won’t fit on <inaudible>

DK (58:37):
I on it.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:44):
Just so we can forward it to like the low res one to add so I can make a page to show everyone.

DK (58:50):
Cute.

Edmund Kearsley (59:04):
Does um, any of the artists tonight usually join black and white or do you normally do stuff in colour?

DK (59:14):
Um, normally colour. I’ve done some things in black and white, but yeah,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:20):
Mainly colour. Cool.

Tom Magee (59:24):
I made a, uh, choice a while ago to do my web comic brain drain in black and white. ’cause I was thinking man, if I’m gonna do like I planned out like 600 pages for it. If I’m gonna do in colour, I’m just gonna stress myself out. So <laugh>, funnily enough, doing everything in grey scale is not too much different.

Laura Smith (59:45):
<laugh>. So

Laura Smith (59:48):
Yeah, my comic is in black and white or grey scale. So,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:53):
All right, cool.

Laura Smith (59:53):
So it’s quite comfortable for me. I find printing is cheaper if you’re not paying for colour ink.

Tom Magee (01:00:02):
There you go.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:05):
True ed. Is it just me? Is this gonna be our first finished page at the end of a show?

Tom Magee (01:00:57):
No way.

Laura Smith (01:00:58):
Oh my God. Y’all are putting all the pressures on me now.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:01):
<laugh>. I, yeah. I just thought I’d do that.

Laura Smith (01:01:04):
I thought you understandable. <laugh>. God damn that Laura. How to make them go faster?

Laura Smith (01:01:13):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:14):
No, I’m just kidding. I think it might be zero pressure. We’re just all watching.

Laura Smith (01:01:31):
Back to perceiving.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:32):
I’m judging <laugh>. I’m not judging just watching. You’re not.

Laura Smith (01:01:36):
If you’re not judging, what’s the point of looking

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:40):
<laugh>?

Laura Smith (01:01:43):
Just don’t tell me the negative judgments. Only positive vibes. Like my apparent inability to zoom in and out smoothly.

Laura Smith (01:01:53):
Oh,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:18):
You guys are Photoshop and procreate. Was it Tom?

Tom Magee (01:02:23):
Yeah. Yeah. Procreate.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:24):
Yeah. Cool. I was gonna, I just didn’t recognise the interfaces.

Laura Smith (01:02:41):
Hmm.

Laura Smith (01:02:44):
Okay, now I gotta do something Backgroundy. Goodness gracious.

Laura Smith (01:02:50):
Pressure.

Laura Smith (01:02:52):
Pressure. You what? Watch is gonna look no different to the background I’ve got on here at the moment.

Laura Smith (01:03:01):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:03):
Excellent.

Laura Smith (01:03:06):
I could just erase it entirely and channel my inner bleach. Who needs background when you have facial expressions?

Laura Smith (01:03:18):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:28):
See, this is why me drawing was a bad idea. ’cause now I’m watching to learn instead of inter interacting <laugh>,

Laura Smith (01:03:38):
Are you ever gonna recover from this?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:40):
You do that and then you do that. I’m gonna do it in every show now. It’s gonna be bad.

Laura Smith (01:03:44):
No, don’t look, don’t perceive us.

Laura Smith (01:03:50):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (01:04:03):
You, you don’t have to finish the, your panel on the show.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:08):
Sorry, I was just getting excited.

Laura Smith (01:04:13):
No, I’m just trying to figure out what backgrounds look like. Put pressure Nick. Laura doesn’t normally draw backgrounds. Laura ignores that backgrounds exist.

Edmund Kearsley (01:04:24):
Rated

Laura Smith (01:04:25):
So overrated. Oh my gosh. What is that background? Oh, actually I kind of like, that’s not what I was trying to do. Not what I’m doing, but I’m not changing it. <laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:05:05):
It’s perfect. Perfect.

Laura Smith (01:05:09):
Gonna get rid of this and then it’s done. Oh, that’s not the right layer, eh, <laugh> look, I

Tom Magee (01:05:15):
Wasn’t gonna comment on the layer count, uh, but now I just did.

Laura Smith (01:05:20):
Um, I don’t know if you can see the layer names, but I’ve got the layer that I’m toggling there is called not a diamond <laugh>. This layer on the left hand side is diamond. The middle one is diamond question mark and then <laugh>. This one was diamond exclamation mark, question mark in four capitals. Um, <laugh>,

Laura Smith (01:05:47):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:05:48):
And uh, what about layer layers? Five through seven?

Laura Smith (01:05:54):
No, they’re unimportant. They’re ordered. <laugh>, they’re unimportant. They’re the ones that are actually visible. Um, they are aligned to Diamond. Diamond, diamond, uh, so that I know which one they are. <laugh>. It’s very important. There’s method in my madness. Not much of it, but it’s there as

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:16):
Long as it’s there. Um, Michael? No. Uh, not all from South Australia. Uh, Dana is, Laura is Tom and myself are from Brisbane. And Ed, he’s from a magical place.

Tom Magee (01:06:31):
<inaudible>,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:33):
Where they make radical comics.

Laura Smith (01:06:38):
I don’t know guys. I think this is pretty done.

Edmund Kearsley (01:06:41):
Excellent.

Tom Magee (01:06:42):
Nice.

Laura Smith (01:06:44):
I like them. If I keep touching it, I ruin it. And then I’ll be sad. So we’re done. We’re done. <laugh>

Edmund Kearsley (01:06:53):
Send through to and then I’ll

Laura Smith (01:07:00):
Save that to the wrong

Edmund Kearsley (01:07:01):
Folder page. Everyone’s back.

Laura Smith (01:07:09):
Are we sending you the um, like actual file or just like a jpeg of it?

Edmund Kearsley (01:07:19):
Yeah, just sent a jpeg to Yeah.

Laura Smith (01:07:22):
I’m sure you said it before, but was I listening? 0%? I was arting

Laura Smith (01:07:29):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:30):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (01:07:48):
Have you got any Instagrams or anything lined up, sis?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:52):
Oh God, no. I’ve got it all down the bottom though. I can type them in.

Laura Smith (01:07:57):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:58):
I’m very prepared today, aren’t I? Oh god. Damnit

Laura Smith (01:08:04):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:08:04):
You’re doing great.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:08:08):
I can’t be trusted with these things.

Edmund Kearsley (01:08:23):
It’s all right. I’ve already got two of the panels put in.

Laura Smith (01:08:29):
Sweet.

Laura Smith (01:08:31):
Gonna look so good.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:08:33):
There’s three. And um, hopefully Ed, ed will probably do it quicker than I will bring up these pages.

Edmund Kearsley (01:08:50):
It

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:08:54):
Okay. I’m gonna lose so bad.

Laura Smith (01:09:14):
I like my brush.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:09:23):
Ah, this is important. Who would’ve known? Um, great. Now I can’t spell Instagram

Laura Smith (01:09:35):
<laugh>. Too much pressure

Laura Smith (01:09:42):
Under pressure.

Laura Smith (01:09:50):
All

Laura Smith (01:09:50):
Right, there you go. I signed it. I didn’t sign it for the jpeg me, but I signed it.

DK (01:09:56):
Did you do a giant signature?

Laura Smith (01:09:59):
No, it’s, it’s right there. All the way zoomed in <laugh>. Perfect view. <laugh>. It’s nice and polite. It’s smaller than a Diamond

Laura Smith (01:10:13):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:10:14):
I could have made it nice and big. I could do bigger than what you did. All right. You go

DK (01:10:19):
Make it the wallpaper in the back

Laura Smith (01:10:27):
And you really want people to know that you were there. <laugh>.

DK (01:10:39):
Whoa.

Edmund Kearsley (01:10:43):
There we go. There.

Laura Smith (01:10:43):
She’s very nice. Uh

Edmund Kearsley (01:10:49):
Oh. I didn’t, oh, there’s, you can see the panel under Tom’s one. Oh

Laura Smith (01:10:54):
Yeah. ’cause I drew the panel over myself. Now

DK (01:10:58):
It looks cool there.

Laura Smith (01:11:01):
Yeah, it looks great. There you

Edmund Kearsley (01:11:02):
Go. Now I want to get rid of it where they’ve got panels going on everywhere too.

Laura Smith (01:11:11):
<laugh>, I think. Yeah, I think you have.

Laura Smith (01:11:12):
Sometimes you meet panels.

Edmund Kearsley (01:11:21):
There you go. Oh, taken off.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:11:25):
Nice

Edmund Kearsley (01:11:26):
Thing is one. Just a sec. I’ll get there.

Laura Smith (01:11:34):
You’re doing great.

Edmund Kearsley (01:11:35):
Thanks. So we’ve got the, the Munch Crunch. Mm. Egg Crunch in DL with a sick ceiling fan. <laugh>

Laura Smith (01:11:47):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:11:48):
Holy Sick Ceiling fan. Thank you for saying

Edmund Kearsley (01:11:51):
That’s some good cartooning and we get the Ouch. So pretty. Yeah, no, it’s got a good fleet with that panel too. And then the diamond hits the floor transforms into a little bug robot. Little beetle guy.

Laura Smith (01:12:15):
He’s just a little dude. He is so cute. Little

Tom Magee (01:12:18):
Guy

Edmund Kearsley (01:12:19):
Doing little dude.

Laura Smith (01:12:20):
Where? Where’s the signature? It’s in the, uh, higher res version that before. We’re gonna have

Edmund Kearsley (01:12:27):
To have to wait till next week to see that.

Laura Smith (01:12:31):
Oh, okay. Until then, it’s a mystery Who drew it? How would you know? Mystery not gonna know. Find out next week.

Edmund Kearsley (01:12:43):
There we have it.

Laura Smith (01:12:45):
We did it.

Tom Magee (01:12:47):
Hell yeah.

Laura Smith (01:12:48):
Very good.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:12:50):
<laugh> Andrew. Lord, thanks for putting the transformer sound effect. I don’t know how you write that <laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:12:57):
Grab a Coke can and scrunch it in front of the camera for real

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:03):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:13:03):
Every time you show that panel, it just <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:07):
Crunchy corn. Love

Laura Smith (01:13:09):
It. You print out the comic and it comes with like one of those old mini

Laura Smith (01:13:14):
<laugh>.

Tom Magee (01:13:17):
It’s got U USB attached to it.

Laura Smith (01:13:18):
Yeah. Trust me. This is gonna

Tom Magee (01:13:21):
Way better.

Laura Smith (01:13:23):
You must play exactly Page eight with this <laugh>

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:27):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (01:13:28):
Page eight, panel three. All righty. Is that it? Sis?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:37):
Uh, unless you want me to show these pages, regardless of the killing time. So you can make a page

Edmund Kearsley (01:13:47):
If you, if you feel like it’s there.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:50):
Yep. I will share screen and then figure out which screen it is.

Laura Smith (01:13:57):
Where’s the other screen?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:00):
It is. Oh no, I got it right. Wow. <laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:14:06):
Oh no. Yeah, I got it right. <laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (01:14:08):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:14:10):
I’m for you. <laugh>. Hey, that’s me

DK (01:14:15):
Dressed

Laura Smith (01:14:16):
Up

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:16):
As a bit of an artist.

DK (01:14:18):
Woo.

Laura Smith (01:14:19):
It was me.

Laura Smith (01:14:22):
Woo.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:23):
See if I can scroll here a bit. Ooh, some niceness.

Laura Smith (01:14:28):
Oh, that’s good. How I describe my art. Niceness. <laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:14:31):
<laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:41):
I need that shirt.

Laura Smith (01:14:43):
You can buy that shirt on my website. Bit of an artist.com.

DK (01:14:51):
There’s my flower ghost thing.

Laura Smith (01:14:54):
I need to make you a flower ghost. I’ll make you a flower ghost. Don’t you worry. <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:58):
<laugh>.

Laura Smith (01:15:00):
I was so close to putting it aside for you, but I was like, oh,

DK (01:15:05):
<laugh>. I like how you knew I would want one. <laugh> <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:10):
Crazy mouses. We should go to dk.

DK (01:15:15):
Uh oh.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:17):
A little bit of mess on a guitar there. That’s

DK (01:15:18):
Me.

Laura Smith (01:15:20):
So much more colourful.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:22):
Yeah. Extremely strange people. That’s what I call anyone. I don’t know. Strange people. Okay.

DK (01:15:36):
Understandable.

Laura Smith (01:15:38):
Technically true.

Laura Smith (01:15:42):
Strange danger.

Laura Smith (01:15:44):
Those are some sweet slapping stickers. <laugh>, somebody’s dropping in.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:50):
Love it. Ooh.

Laura Smith (01:15:54):
Oh, that’s just showing off. <laugh> <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:00):
Now it’s time for Mr. Tohar.

Laura Smith (01:16:03):
Oh no.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:08):
Oh yeah. I see.

Laura Smith (01:16:10):
Behold my stuff.

DK (01:16:13):
<laugh>. That was really good.

Laura Smith (01:16:18):
Love Carla in.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:20):
Very nice.

Laura Smith (01:16:23):
Good to need the little, oh,

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:30):
Ah, what’s arms? I confused my eyes for a second.

Laura Smith (01:16:33):
<laugh>. I was gonna say, I feel like there’s additional arms here, but I’m not sure.

Laura Smith (01:16:37):
There’s a couple.

Laura Smith (01:16:38):
I don’t normally count people’s arms, so it could be completely normal. <laugh>. How will I know it?

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:46):
Very cool, Tom. Very cool. Thank you. I love it. And then I will, unshare, where am I? Oh, there I go.

Laura Smith (01:17:00):
There we go. All

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:02):
Right.

Laura Smith (01:17:04):
That’s all. Everyone’s Instagrams there at the bottom of the

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:08):
Screen, so make sure you go and follow them on Instagrams or else. Tom and Laura and Dana, thank you for being on the show tonight.

Tom Magee (01:17:18):
Yeah, no worries.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:19):
For having, thanks for having us.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:21):
Thanks for awesome artwork and making a sick page, and thanks for showing off

Tom Magee (01:17:27):
Your, uh, transformers.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:29):
Yeah, no worries. <laugh>.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:31):
<laugh>.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:33):
Thanks just Steve for pressing all the buttons and thanks everyone for watching.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:39):
Cheers, Dave, everyone.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:40):
Thanks Dave for the nice comment.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:46):
Woo.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:47):
Right. Since let’s see if the outro video works.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:54):
See if what works.

Edmund Kearsley (01:17:55):
The outro video.

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:57):
Outro video. Okay. Sorry, I missed the word. You said. What

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:01):
Am

Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:05):
Transformers.
