Let’s make a comic book, but let’s make it a little bit different. Instead of one person or a team making the whole book, we’re gonna have every panel made by a different cartoonist. We are gonna do one page per episode. So the number of guests is the number of panels on the page. So now you’re probably wondering, what’s this comic book gonna be about? Well, lemme tell you. It’s gonna be about a robot. This robot whose name is blank. What happens next? Nobody knows, but it’s gonna be fun finding out.
Edmund Kearsley (00:48):
Hello, welcome to Light Speaker Comic book. This is episode two, where we’re gonna be making page three. Uh, my name’s Ed Kiley, I’m your host and we’ve got Uhs Dog. So I’m the ones and twos come at live from the shadow realm. And we’ve got three great guests today. We’ve got Alex Major and Peter Lawson and Morgan French. So today we are gonna be, um, following on from last week where we had this page made by da, sorry, Dasan, Shiva and Peter Lawson. No, Peter Wilson.
Peter J Lawson (01:34):
Long Peter
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:37):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (01:39):
It’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:39):
Peter. All good.
Edmund Kearsley (01:41):
All righty. So first we’re gonna pick who’s gonna do the first panel. So I’m gonna show you some characters and we’re gonna have Alex major, who’s gonna pick one of these guys? So we’ve got Alf, Alf. Wicked.
Alex Major (01:59):
Yeah, he eats cats. I have cats.
Edmund Kearsley (02:02):
Wimbley, rag
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:05):
<laugh>. Oh, that’s awesome.
Edmund Kearsley (02:08):
<laugh>.
Peter J Lawson (02:11):
I remember Wi Wimbley. Ragle. Well,
Edmund Kearsley (02:15):
So, uh, Alex, do you wanna pick one of these guys?
Alex Major (02:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m sticking to Alf.
Edmund Kearsley (02:21):
Alf
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:21):
Sticking to Alf.
Edmund Kearsley (02:23):
So Alf is number two, so you can go second. And that, uh, Peter
Peter J Lawson (02:30):
Wimbley,
Edmund Kearsley (02:31):
Wimbley
Peter J Lawson (02:32):
Struggle, baby
Edmund Kearsley (02:34):
Isn’t number three. And so Logan is going first. I’m up first number one.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:40):
No pressure.
Edmund Kearsley (02:41):
No
Logan French (02:42):
Pressure, no pressure.
Edmund Kearsley (02:43):
And now we’re going to find out what panel layout we’re gonna be using. So if, um, you put me on full screen, says,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:52):
Yep.
Edmund Kearsley (02:59):
So these are the, the four layouts that we’re gonna be choosing from that the, the fellows are gonna be doing their page on. If you go back to normal, I can show you the thing. So Logan, you pick 1, 2, 3, or four from the hand of choosing.
Logan French (03:25):
Ooh, I’ll go with two.
Edmund Kearsley (03:28):
Two. So that is layout four.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (03:35):
Layout four for
Peter J Lawson (03:37):
Which one’s that? Because I’ve got in different order here.
Edmund Kearsley (03:41):
It’s that one.
Alex Major (03:42):
Yeah. Okay, cool.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (03:50):
We’ve got Nick May saying Hello everyone draw. Well,
Alex Major (03:55):
We’ve got Carries.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (03:57):
Woohoo.
Edmund Kearsley (03:59):
Thank you Nick and Carrie.
Peter J Lawson (04:02):
Sorry again. Which one was it?
Logan French (04:08):
Uh, it was this one. Horizontal and two.
Peter J Lawson (04:12):
Yep. Cool. Very course.
Alex Major (04:15):
Yep.
Edmund Kearsley (04:16):
So Logan, if you wanna start drawing,
Logan French (04:21):
Just
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (04:22):
Start on, don’t start drawing yet. Peter, you dunno what Logan’s done.
Peter J Lawson (04:25):
No, no, I’m just setting my computer up.
Alex Major (04:27):
Yeah, me too. Oh,
Peter J Lawson (04:28):
Okay. I’m still
Alex Major (04:30):
Trying to get a nice camera shot.
Logan French (04:32):
Just stuck. Go in.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (04:33):
There’s what happened
Logan French (04:34):
Last. We’ll work it all out in the end. That’s what’s gonna happen. Oh golly. Gosh. Now I have to think. I was kind of hoping that I would, you know, I’d be a little bit further down the track.
Peter J Lawson (04:49):
<laugh>,
Alex Major (04:50):
Well, maybe Peter can give you some hints and tips how to start. Maybe he can give you an idea or you can just look at his shirt’s, got panels on it. Maybe just, uh, be inspired by one of the panels. <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:04):
Han says,
Logan French (05:06):
I’ll work something out. Don’t you worry. Wink,
Alex Major (05:08):
Wink. Not saying copy
Edmund Kearsley (05:11):
<inaudible>.
Logan French (05:14):
Okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:17):
We’ve got a good evening. Have fun. Everyone from Dave Dye.
Peter J Lawson (05:22):
Ah, the legend himself.
Edmund Kearsley (05:24):
Thank you, Dave.
Peter J Lawson (05:25):
When are you coming on Mr. Dye?
Alex Major (05:28):
Yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:29):
We’ll have to figure that out
Edmund Kearsley (05:30):
On the show.
Peter J Lawson (05:32):
It’d be great.
Edmund Kearsley (05:37):
You
Alex Major (05:37):
Can’t deny that Peter’s a comic fan. Look at that. There’s like a Captain America Shield, captain America, uh, mug, Spider-Man, uh, doing, uh, dancing in the background and then, um, all it’s like,
Peter J Lawson (05:54):
Pretty impressive.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:56):
It’s all for show’s.
Peter J Lawson (05:57):
Just trying to make out these into comics Plus with the image, you know? Yeah. <laugh>.
Alex Major (06:08):
Anyways, I wanted to give a shout out to Pink Flamenco. That is the upcoming project of Nick May. Um, he’s posting on his Instagram all the time and I love what he’s doing. The design
Peter J Lawson (06:19):
Is gorgeous.
Alex Major (06:21):
Yeah. But I just like, I, I love, I really like his, uh, artwork. It’s got this really nice signature style and I think it’s, uh, I dunno if it’s underappreciated, but I don’t see enough buzz about it in Woodward Magazine. Anybody, ARD Magazine must
Peter J Lawson (06:39):
His Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. I actually really love it when you are, when you see tourist to Japan. I love it when you see how to start that come along and they’ve got, I’ve looked at his distinct, the stairs and it’s, you know, they’re not just doing cape stuff. They’re not just drawing like, you know, figures and anatomy and all that, but they’re doing something new and original with the way you do it that no one else does. That always excites me when you see things like that.
Alex Major (07:16):
Yeah. But you’re also another inspiration, Peter, like, I know not enough credit gets given to you about, uh, because you started getting into comics a little bit later. Like, I got into doing comics back in my teens and a lot of people have that. And then you had like a full career in in in cameraman TV stuff. And then now you’re also doing two comics and you’re working with some Aussie legends.
Peter J Lawson (07:41):
I’m having a really good time at the moment, actually. And yeah, I took like a 25 year, 30 year break from drawing at all. But now I’m sort of know knocking along with Rie and Gary d doing torn and having a good time with that writing. The last couple of issues of that that I’m doing, uh, potentially something with Tad that ta ta ta you know, the men with the alphabet for the surname <laugh>.
Alex Major (08:10):
Yeah, I know
Peter J Lawson (08:15):
Taki. I dunno, I’ve probably got it way wrong. I’m
Alex Major (08:17):
Polish and I keep forgetting some, but
Peter J Lawson (08:25):
You know, yeah, there’s, there’s stuff in the pipelines that’s, that’s really cool. And I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of them. Just fun. I’m just
Alex Major (08:32):
Saying it’s like a inspiration because like some people when they get in, you know, it might be like 30 or 30 something year old and they’re like, oh, it’s difficult to come up with, uh, uh, you know, you know, get, get into something, start something because they’re like, oh, I’m too old and, and you’re not. It’s really awesome. I think it’s just like, you know, it’s not only kids who should be inspired. So, you know, people, my
Peter J Lawson (08:54):
Thing is what daughter get into it,
Alex Major (08:56):
Sorry.
Peter J Lawson (08:57):
My daughter was starting to get into doing things and watching her on the tablet and seeing what she was doing and just sort of got me inspired to sort of jump in again, watching, just watching her grow doing, I thought, I’ve just gotta get back into this.
Alex Major (09:12):
Yeah. Was that not dangerous? Like my, my dad watched me do karate getting into that, and then dad decided to do karate and he was better <laugh>. So I gave up doing karate and now I’m not a martial artist anymore. So, is your daughter still drawing?
Peter J Lawson (09:25):
Nah, I don’t look, Dana and I do such different things.
Alex Major (09:29):
Yeah.
Peter J Lawson (09:30):
I’m very much a, your superhero fantasy sword and sory type stuff. Donors is way different and total a totally unique way of approaching things, at least from what my perspective stuff she’s doing for Rob Isel at the moment looks incredible. I could never come up with something like that, but just totally different artists. Oh, okay. So it, it, it’s good. And she can colour like a champion. I’ve, I’ve done a couple of covers, uh, air Hawk Bronwyn, um, Rick McClure, Clune, and, um, I can’t colour with the damn, but give it to my daughter and she just turns ’em into something beautiful.
Alex Major (10:15):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. Oh, nice.
Peter J Lawson (10:17):
And she’s recently done some colours with other people and it just look great.
Alex Major (10:20):
Oh, that’s cool. It’s nice probably for her as well, just to see like, you know, oh, dad’s into what I’m into, to a degree. Not completely the same way, but
Peter J Lawson (10:28):
That’s funny. She, she looks at myself. Oh, that’s really good, dad. But I hate cat crap. So, <laugh>
Alex Major (10:34):
Sorry to interrupt Peter, but if anybody looking at Edmond right now, it looks like he’s one of those gamer girls with the cat ears ’cause of
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:42):
In the background. Oh.
Alex Major (10:49):
Feel like I’m on a, on a twit stream.
Peter J Lawson (10:51):
If you put your hat down like that, you can do a Batman impersonation.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:57):
There you go. Alex, Nick, Nick May says, love you.
Alex Major (11:09):
Uh, I love Nick. I wanna
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:10):
Look at Logan. Okay, let’s get
Edmund Kearsley (11:12):
Him up. Logan’s got going on.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:18):
Oh,
Alex Major (11:19):
Look at Logan.
Edmund Kearsley (11:19):
I can see what’s going on there.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:21):
Oh. Oh, cool.
Edmund Kearsley (11:24):
The eyeballs attacking.
Alex Major (11:27):
Oh, the eyeballs attacking. Oh, okay. Ah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:31):
Ah, I wouldn’t say attacking necessarily.
Alex Major (11:33):
Oh, is it a, a love thing?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:36):
Could be. Who knows? There’s many
Alex Major (11:37):
Options. No know what it’s going through.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:42):
See,
Edmund Kearsley (11:42):
Is that enough, uh, info for you to start going there,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:45):
Alex?
Alex Major (11:45):
Yeah, it is. Now that I know what’s going on. So it’s like this eyeball with the thing and there’s the,
Logan French (12:02):
So this is all black and white, wasn’t it? Yeah. Cool, cool.
Peter J Lawson (12:07):
Okay. I’ve sort of checked how to do that. I dunno how to bring my screen up for you guys.
Alex Major (12:12):
Don’t worry. Needed the way. So, um, don’t worry, Peter, you and me. I’ll,
Peter J Lawson (12:16):
I’ll just send it to, to Sizzle when I’ve got a bit to show and he can pop it up.
Alex Major (12:23):
I could do that too.
Edmund Kearsley (12:26):
Logan did I see you’ve got a book coming up.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:27):
That’s okay. Neither can Alex.
Logan French (12:31):
Uh, you are right there. I’m,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:33):
Yeah, hang on. I’m starting hang, I’ll figure it out.
Logan French (12:37):
Um, so The Lady of the Swamp, I’m starting with Kiran. Kickstarter’s gonna be running, uh, in Halloween. It’s big ’cause it’s big horror, uh, piece, slasher story. Um, it’s gonna be a lot of fun. I think
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:56):
I keep disappearing. Funny story, if you can hear me.
Peter J Lawson (13:00):
Mm-Hmm?
Alex Major (13:01):
I can hear you. Yep. Oh, you dropped.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:02):
I found out that I hadn’t paid my bill for a while and I don’t have internet anymore.
Peter J Lawson (13:07):
Oops. How
Alex Major (13:09):
Are you? And
Peter J Lawson (13:10):
Well, <laugh>, how much?
Alex Major (13:14):
Uh, so, uh, since we are all interrupting everybody, do we have the picture of the eyeball?
Edmund Kearsley (13:20):
It’s, um,
Alex Major (13:24):
Sorry, my bad noise. Uh, here it is. Okay, cool. No worries. Just a second. I’m gonna do, I’m gonna go totally ghetto on this one. There we go. Got it. Okay. Took a photo of it. Oh, I love technology.
Peter J Lawson (13:39):
It’s nice, <laugh>.
Alex Major (13:41):
Yeah, yeah, I know. I had a Windows. I, I’m not really much of a Windows user and, but it has a webcam, so
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:48):
<laugh>
Alex Major (13:51):
Apologies for my nerd talk anyway. Sorry, Logan. Continue talk about the Kickstarter and Halloween and all that stuff.
Logan French (14:00):
Uh, yeah, so we’ve, uh, we announced it a couple of weeks back, I think it was. Uh, and I started working on preliminary design work and Kieran’s been writing the story. And, um, it’s all set in, uh, Outback Australia, uh, revolving around a, uh, a true story that happened in the GI land area.
Peter J Lawson (14:23):
Which area?
Logan French (14:25):
<laugh> the, uh, ee <inaudible>,
Peter J Lawson (14:30):
What’s happening there, talking about.
Logan French (14:34):
So it’s a, it’s a little bit of one of those little, uh, true crime sort of environments, uh, where there was a murder, well supposed murder. It was a mystery.
Peter J Lawson (14:47):
Ah,
Alex Major (14:47):
There was a supposed murder. So they might still be alive.
Logan French (14:51):
Uh, no, they did find, they did find remains, I believe. Oh, okay. Um,
Peter J Lawson (14:57):
See, I thought you were gonna say it was gonna be about the Woodside elephant or something.
Logan French (15:01):
<laugh>. No, nothing. Nothing as as Fantas fall. As as that.
Peter J Lawson (15:06):
No, actually that was real <laugh>. They found it years ago. An elephant escaped from a circus. I’m, I’m talking 70 years ago. 80, 90 years ago, an elephant’s escaped from a circus and no one could ever find it in the bush down at Woodside. And eventually a skeleton was found.
Logan French (15:25):
Oh, wow. <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (15:27):
Oh
Logan French (15:28):
Wow. About that.
Peter J Lawson (15:31):
The Black Panther. That’s another story.
Logan French (15:34):
Ah, yes. We’ve all heard stories of Black Panthers.
Alex Major (15:38):
We talking about the comic movie or actual
Logan French (15:40):
Panthers, <laugh>, actual panther.
Peter J Lawson (15:44):
No, the the scary big cat that is, is known to be roaming these parts.
Logan French (15:52):
It’s always an escape circus animal for the, well, the, I believe the panther was about, um, during World War ii, wasn’t it?
Peter J Lawson (16:03):
I believe it was a mascot. The original one.
Logan French (16:06):
Yeah. It was a like a, uh, American mascot.
Peter J Lawson (16:09):
Yeah.
Alex Major (16:12):
Yeah. I, I, I follow on Instagram. Instagram or YouTube. There’s a Russian lady, she raises a panther and she has a rottweiler and the two of them get along very well, and I’m like, oh, I would like a panther. Well look, would, look, look fun when he is just chilling on my couch watching tv. And I’m like,
Logan French (16:28):
Oh yeah,
Alex Major (16:29):
Like great Instagram content.
Peter J Lawson (16:34):
I’ve had a, I’ve always had a dream of having a lion just hanging on the couch. Oh, old. Well, you know what
Alex Major (16:40):
Else is called? I was, I was in a zoo and I saw this seven nose golden monkey and they, he is sitting there chilling, eating nuts. And I was like, oh, that looks so cool.
Peter J Lawson (16:53):
Come back into the next live as a cage monkey, just eating nuts all day.
Alex Major (16:58):
<laugh>. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just, just chilling there. Watching. Who wants to be a millionaire solving puzzles? <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:04):
<laugh>. Well, I’ll just throw in some comments that I missed while I dropped out. Uh, we’ve got Nick Quick has gone. Good team tonight. Uh, Ben Sullivan is going page three and excellent artists on board. And apparently Gippsland isn’t Outback according to Dave d
Logan French (17:28):
It depends on which part of Gippsland you’re talking about. I guess
Peter J Lawson (17:31):
I, I would agree with, I suppose if you go, nah, I wouldn’t call that Outback up in the hills. Hi, country. Awesome. Um,
Alex Major (17:52):
Yeah, just so, um, Peter can start, uh, I’ve gotta show off like a very ru Oh, Jesus Christ. What did icr the layers again. Don, what I did, did, did I screw the layers? It’s going on. Uh oh. No. If
Peter J Lawson (18:06):
It’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:06):
Easier, you can send it to Messenger and I can put it up on the screen.
Alex Major (18:10):
Oh, we can do that. Okay, cool. No worries. Um,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:14):
Whatever’s easier for you, Alex.
Alex Major (18:16):
Um, I’m going to screen grab and I’m gonna send it to you on Messenger so that way people can take a look at it easier. ’cause um, where is my Messenger button
Peter J Lawson (18:30):
Drop out in
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:31):
The meantime?
Alex Major (18:32):
Okay. Uh, there we go. It’s not, it’s, it’s a very rough drawing, but just so Pete can start. So he is not all lonesome.
Peter J Lawson (18:42):
Yeah. I’m going out to finish. Talk about, yeah. Yeah, actually
Alex Major (18:47):
I just think you’re talking too much, Peter. I’m like it Start drawing. Yeah.
Peter J Lawson (18:50):
Shut him up. <laugh>. You can just
Alex Major (18:52):
Silence. By the way, I was gonna ask Edmond because like we’re doing, um, I know you like beat him ups and we’re doing a, uh, we’re doing comic panels. Um, did you ever play Comic Zone when you were a youngster on your Sega Mega Drive?
Edmund Kearsley (19:08):
Yeah, I have played it Good. It’s a, it’s really hard.
Alex Major (19:12):
Oh yeah. But I, I can’t play, uh, I think I get beaten up by one of the early bosses all the time. But the graphics are, the concept is really cool.
Edmund Kearsley (19:21):
Mm. It’s excellent artwork. And the, the, the screen changing by changing panels on the book. Yeah. Like how the guy bused through and stuff. Oh cool.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (19:33):
This one’s for Peter.
Alex Major (19:36):
Okay. Alright. Because I’m told it’s, I’m told it’s a love story, so. Oh, there you love
Peter J Lawson (19:40):
Story now <laugh>. Oh, that’s completely fine. Me <laugh>. Oh, hate you.
Alex Major (19:52):
Oh no, you don’t. You love me. I know.
Peter J Lawson (19:55):
Oh, way to go.
Alex Major (19:58):
That’s why I wanted to give you time. Anyway, his arms missing and all that stuff. So
Peter J Lawson (20:06):
<laugh> also, you’re making it funny. And I don’t draw funny <laugh>. You do
Alex Major (20:14):
Make it serious, you know,
Peter J Lawson (20:16):
Take it
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:17):
Serious. All good.
Alex Major (20:18):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (20:22):
It’s the magic of the shows. You never know what the other person’s gonna do.
Peter J Lawson (20:27):
What to do.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:30):
Is that enough there, Peter
Peter J Lawson (20:32):
Up? No, no, I’m, I’m good.
Alex Major (20:39):
Yeah, so Peter doesn’t talk to me anymore. I know. It’s because of this. Oh, somebody the dog said hi.
Logan French (20:58):
Sorry. The dogs out my way are just going nuts.
Alex Major (21:03):
Is that the terrier or is it like, uh, somebody No,
Logan French (21:05):
It’s every dog in the neighbourhood is currently going off because, uh, the moon’s high and bright tonight, so. Ah,
Alex Major (21:17):
Oh yeah.
Logan French (21:19):
And it’s a little bit noisy because, you know, public holiday tomorrow,
Alex Major (21:23):
So what? Yeah, not Monday.
Logan French (21:27):
No, it’s tomorrow
Alex Major (21:30):
We have it in, oh wait, uh, is that like, uh, uh, Melbourne? Are you Logan? Are you from Melbourne?
Logan French (21:36):
Yeah. No, central Victoria.
Alex Major (21:38):
Central Victoria. We’re close enough. Closer enough. Yeah. I’m closer than Sydney. No, ’cause we have, I’ve gotta go to the office tomorrow and um, on Monday we’ve told that it’s public holiday.
Logan French (21:48):
Ah, now Sydney. We’ve got grand. We’ve got grand. Final day you see a FL
Alex Major (21:52):
Ah, ah, it’s a Ffl thing. Yeah, no, we’ve got Labour Day. Yeah. Nothing to do with Yeah,
Logan French (21:56):
Yeah, yeah,
Alex Major (21:57):
Yeah. We don’t like our NRL in enough to call it a public holiday. <laugh>.
Logan French (22:02):
Yeah. We didn’t do that either until a couple years ago.
Alex Major (22:07):
<laugh>. Oh, it’s a new thing.
Logan French (22:08):
Yeah, it’s a very new thing. <laugh>.
Alex Major (22:10):
Oh, because I know there was also a public holiday for the Melbourne car.
Logan French (22:15):
There. There is, except I don’t get it because we have our own, we’ve got the Bendigo Cup here. Oh, nice. Um, fancy. Well, some people think it is
Alex Major (22:30):
<laugh>. Tell me more about Bendigo. I’m curious. Is there lots to do there?
Logan French (22:34):
Uh, it is, well was a tourist town. Um, now it’s growing a lot. ’cause a lot of the city people, uh, find it easy to get into town. So you can get, you can get to Melbourne on the train, you know, to an hour and 10 hour and 20. Oh, that’s not
Alex Major (22:54):
Too bad. So it’s pretty much like, is it, so Victoria’s answer to Katoomba, so like a lot of Sydney people do that ’cause they can’t afford a house in Sydney. So they’ll go to Katoomba and there’s a train that’ll go straight to Central.
Logan French (23:07):
It’s an hour. Yeah, that’s pretty much the same deal.
Alex Major (23:10):
Oh, okay.
Logan French (23:11):
Uh, yeah. So, you know, housing prices have skyrocketed. There’s no, um, oh man, that’s all the negative stuff. Uh, you know, there, there’s a lot of touristy stuff here. We have a huge, um, Chinese culture because of the gold rush.
Alex Major (23:26):
Yeah, I was gonna say, ’cause like, the reason I wasn’t gonna ask, ’cause my ex-coworker Gary in Shanghai, because it’s like, oh, where’s the ding ding, ding Shanghai stuff that Oh, that’s Rob’s thing. So, yeah. And her, she had family in Bendigo and I’m like, what in Bendigo? She’s like, yeah, there’s nothing to do there, <laugh>. And I was like, ah,
Logan French (23:44):
It’s not too bad. But it’s, it’s not exactly spectacular.
Alex Major (23:48):
Yeah, it’s not Shanghai, I’m guessing, but it’s still pretty good. <laugh>. Well, you almost sold it that way. ’cause like, oh, we’ve got a big Chinese community and I’m like, oh, how close is it to Shanghai?
Logan French (23:59):
Not that close. Um, you know, the, the big Chinese community is more of a, a cultural impact kind of thing. So we have the, so during Easter we have an Easter parade, which is all, um,
Alex Major (24:15):
Oh, Chinese New Year. Right?
Logan French (24:17):
Well, kind of. They bring every, they bring out everything that you’d use on Chinese New Year, um, to, to celebrate Easter. And they make it a big event. Um, have a big parade. We have the, uh, the longest Chinese dragon, uh, in the Southern Hemisphere, uh, which is in, and even compared to some of the Chinese ones, it’s, it’s up there in length. I mean, this thing is freaking, it’s huge. It takes about 150 people to carry. Um, it’s, uh, it’s, it’s really,
Alex Major (24:53):
It’s, I gonna say like, being the best in the southern hemisphere, it’s a competition isn’t as big as the
Logan French (24:59):
I know. It’s pretty, it’s pretty small <laugh>, but better than nothing. Uh, so
Alex Major (25:07):
Apologies for being an asshole. S great
Logan French (25:10):
<laugh>. It’s okay. I wouldn’t say it’s great. Um, it’s a good, it’s a good family place.
Alex Major (25:18):
Okay.
Logan French (25:19):
Yeah.
Alex Major (25:21):
Yeah. Is that, uh,
Logan French (25:21):
But they recently bought, uh, they recently built the, uh, a new set of, uh, Victorian law courts. So, um, all the, all the real high end cases and stuff like that, get ’em to start being held here.
Alex Major (25:37):
Is that good?
Logan French (25:38):
Instead of central Melbourne? It’s good for tourism, I guess, because, you know, people are gonna be constantly flying in and out. Yes. We have our own airport.
Alex Major (25:46):
Um, ah, that’s pretty good. Katoomba doesn’t have an airport, just has mountains.
Logan French (25:51):
Yeah, you can fly directly to Sydney from here.
Alex Major (25:54):
Oh, nice. Oh, cool.
Logan French (25:56):
Uh, so it’s,
Alex Major (25:58):
Um, I’m gonna get up to Wikipedia right after this and just look up Indigo and get my s <laugh>.
Logan French (26:05):
You’re gonna look at it and go, everything he said was wrong. <laugh> <laugh>.
Alex Major (26:10):
Oh, you didn’t really say much to, I was like, oh, we, there’s no Chinese people here. What the hell? Just the, just the three people related to my ex-coworker.
Logan French (26:17):
Uh, apparently we have the most extensive, um, Chinese history, uh, museum in Australia.
Alex Major (26:27):
Oh, okay. Oh wow.
Logan French (26:29):
So if you Yeah, if you wanted to know anything about Chinese history in Australia, that’s the, the place to go. Nice. Um, so that’s rather interesting. Uh,
Alex Major (26:46):
What about, what’s the comic scene? Do you guys have drink and draw? Do you guys catch up? Is there like, a lot of, a lot of nerds in, um, um, Bendigo,
Logan French (26:54):
Uh, we have our own, um, comic Con style. We have a Bendi Con.
Alex Major (27:00):
Oh yeah, there you go. That was recent, wasn’t it? It
Logan French (27:03):
Was indeed. Yeah.
Peter J Lawson (27:06):
I was not gonna go, but I had to work.
Logan French (27:09):
Uh, it was, it was really good actually. I had a good time.
Alex Major (27:13):
Basically. Peter doesn’t have it, doesn’t, hasn’t got his priorities right. I had to work, uh,
Peter J Lawson (27:20):
Comic, well, I don’t work very often, so it’s annoying when I have to. It’s, and it’s actually got something else on
Logan French (27:26):
<laugh>. <laugh>. Yeah.
Alex Major (27:29):
That sucks. It sucks. It’s annoying when that happens. You don’t work often and then when it finally comes, it’s like, ah, in the middle of a convention or
Peter J Lawson (27:37):
Something else
Logan French (27:40):
Ago. Uh, yeah, it’s, it’s still relatively young in the sense of, uh, creators and stuff. I, um, because I, I work at the local office works. I, uh, get to actually interact with quite a lot of them. Um, and they come in to buy equipment or do printing, which means I get to expand my repertoire of creators as they start creating. Oh yeah. Which is really good. Um, but you know, it’s still, it’s still early days. Excellent.
Alex Major (28:24):
Cool. Did you go at Edmond? Did you go to, um, did you go to Bendi Con?
Logan French (28:30):
No, haven’t been to a convention for a while.
Alex Major (28:35):
Oh. Oh, that’s right. Oh, that’s right. I was supposed to talk about, I went to Upcoming Con in Sydney last weekend. It sound, it was, uh, uh, yeah, it was, it was on, I met a couple. I met a Angie Spice, which was really awesome.
Logan French (28:49):
Oh yeah, Angie
Peter J Lawson (28:50):
Lovely.
Alex Major (28:51):
She is awesome. She’s awesome. And her book’s great. I bought her book. And also, like, what’s really nice is that she makes little bags of her original art. So when she sells you the book, you get all original art as well with it, which is really nice. So big shout out to her. Uh, but also, uh, Quinnie was there big shout out to her as well. <inaudible> as well. And who else was there? Tim McMillen bought his book.
Peter J Lawson (29:20):
Oh, cool.
Alex Major (29:22):
So, uh, um, yeah, so it was like a, it was a, it was pretty good event. I was just, uh, sur Surpris. I thought it was gonna be, it’s actually a little bit smaller than Supernova. The artist Alley was significantly smaller compared to Supernova, so I don’t know.
Logan French (29:39):
Interesting.
Alex Major (29:41):
Yeah, so if there’s any like juicy gossip, Peter, lay it down.
Peter J Lawson (29:46):
<laugh>, no clue.
Logan French (29:48):
<laugh> <laugh>
Peter J Lawson (29:51):
Have not any convention things for a long time.
Logan French (29:55):
I think it’s really just a cost factor. Um, more super cheaper. Is it? Uh, I, I don’t think by much.
Alex Major (30:06):
Yeah. Oh no, it was like, yeah, ’cause like, um, yeah, it was significant smaller and like, it was weird. Like, um, I think Quinnie was just tabling there. Um, but super note, she was a guest.
Logan French (30:19):
Interesting.
Alex Major (30:20):
So,
Logan French (30:22):
Yeah,
Alex Major (30:25):
I don’t know. But, um, it was still a pretty good event. Still a lot of people there, a lot of shops, a lot of toys. People were getting tattoos done at a convention. I’m like, yeah, I’m, I’m all for tattoos. Uh, one day I think, uh, uh, when, um, I, I give up on the Forbes 500 list being business guy. Um, just gotta go and just get tattooed all over and I’m not gonna do it on a convention floor. I’m just gonna go someplace a little bit more sanitise.
Logan French (30:57):
<laugh>.
Alex Major (31:01):
Peter, how many tattoos do you have? I’ve gotta guess. Three. Four. Four. I was off.
Logan French (31:10):
Yeah. Two.
Peter J Lawson (31:13):
Can’t show any of them.
Logan French (31:15):
<laugh>,
Peter J Lawson (31:17):
I guess. No, I don’t have any.
Alex Major (31:19):
Yeah, no, I’m just joking.
Peter J Lawson (31:22):
I, um, I, I did make a bit of money a few, quite a few years ago, back when I was a uni student in my twenties drawing dragons and lions and garbage for a tattoo guy in Box Hill. Oh, okay. So I would draw them in. He would pay me money for them depending on how much he thought he could sell them for. And some of them he paid very waffle for. Oh, nice. It was a good business.
Logan French (31:45):
Nice. Nice.
Alex Major (31:46):
I thought you were gonna be, I was like, oh, used to tattoo. I don’t have any, I was like, oh, never been to seen a tattooist not have a tattoo.
Peter J Lawson (31:55):
<laugh>. That’s me to don’t they,
Alex Major (32:00):
Uh, by the way, Logan’s stuff’s looking so good. I’m glad, I’m glad my stuff’s not online right now, so people don’t
Peter J Lawson (32:07):
Same mine. Horrible. I just said shed an update to you, Shane.
Logan French (32:12):
Oh, thanks.
Alex Major (32:14):
Is that a bone?
Logan French (32:20):
Did did you guys wanna have any dialogue in your panels or do you want to keep them sound?
Alex Major (32:24):
I can put a dialogue in my panel. Okay, gorgeous. What’s up
Logan French (32:29):
<laugh>?
Alex Major (32:33):
He coming often. His parts or you know, whatever winning pickup line. I don’t know
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:44):
That you’d give a flying eyeball.
Alex Major (32:46):
Oh
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (32:47):
Yeah. Or robot. Who’s saying
Alex Major (32:48):
I’m not a, I’m not a judgmental person there si like as long as everybody’s a consenting adult, you let your, let your imaginations run wild.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:01):
No, that’s the spirit. Here’s um, Peter’s.
Alex Major (33:07):
Oh, nice.
Peter J Lawson (33:12):
Taking it back to a dark place. Ah,
Edmund Kearsley (33:17):
Got the sneaky knife behind his back.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:20):
I love it.
Edmund Kearsley (33:22):
That’s excellent.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (33:37):
Come on Alex. You’ll turn the show. Shove something through the ettes for me to show.
Peter J Lawson (33:42):
Oh,
Alex Major (33:42):
Okay. Cool noise.
Edmund Kearsley (33:46):
Um, so Peter, you’ve been drawing the the torn book.
Peter J Lawson (33:50):
That’s right. Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (33:52):
<inaudible>.
Peter J Lawson (33:53):
Yeah. Well, uh, shows one and two are out Issue three. I think he’s on the verge of getting printed. That one hit a bit of a hiccup. When we lost an inker lost two Iners came back to me. So I inked it as well after not looking at it for like eight months. So I had to go back and ink that. And, um, it’s been coloured by Graham Jackson who has done a absolutely from the 16 odd pages I’ve seen Coloured. It’s looking absolutely incredible. So I’m really looking forward to that one hitting out and issue four almost inked up, which I wrote as well, so.
Edmund Kearsley (34:39):
Excellent. Oh cool.
Peter J Lawson (34:40):
And, and, and fives plotted ready to start the proper script on
Edmund Kearsley (34:49):
Is the, um, I red issue one a while back that had the, was it the Westall primary, the UFO sighting? Was that a part of that? That’s right.
Peter J Lawson (34:59):
Yeah. Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (35:01):
There’s amazing that there’s all these UFO stuff that’s, that’s happened around here.
Peter J Lawson (35:09):
I actually vaguely remember hearing about the Westall one sixties. Um, not sure, but I remember hearing about it. I was right into that stuff a while. There was a farmer up around
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (35:28):
You were the creature that walked out of it. Whatcha talking about <laugh>?
Peter J Lawson (35:33):
There was a farmer up around, um, just between sale and Rosedale. I would’ve been probably 13 or 14 at the time. And he hit the news and stuff for allegedly having his, the water tank on his farm. Part of its, she had off. And the water water tank was drained by a kind of a, allegedly by a sort of a space proby kind of thing that landed in the paddock and dug all these holes and took like probes came out and all sorts of stuff. And it was quite a buzz. Had the media circus for Melbourne up for it.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (36:11):
Wow.
Peter J Lawson (36:14):
And it remains one of those great unexplained,
Alex Major (36:20):
Oh, I remember news, blame news about aliens. And they had for like two days on the news, they were like, oh, this circular orbs is, uh, coming out at night. Turns out after two days of the news reporting of Space Aliens, it turned out it was just Venus and it was just closer to the earth than usual <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (36:42):
That’s classic. Here’s Alex’s latest. Oh,
Alex Major (36:46):
There you go. Six
Edmund Kearsley (36:54):
<laugh> suggestive.
Alex Major (36:58):
Well, because there’s a bone, uh, the bone in the picture, like Logan draw bones on the ground. So I’m like, yeah, now I’ve gotta draw a knife on the ground too. <laugh> people can take that bone whichever way they want.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:13):
That’s, is that allowed? I dunno.
Alex Major (37:15):
Peter’s the bone there. So he picks up that bone and then, I don’t know, Peter can take that bone suggestion anyway. Well change it to a knife, but, um,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:29):
But yeah, we’ve got, um, oh, hang on. I go back. Who was it? Andrew Law. He’s like, ah, the romance didn’t last long. Mm-Hmm.
Alex Major (37:38):
<affirmative>. Uh, yeah, not my fault.
Edmund Kearsley (37:42):
<laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (37:44):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (37:45):
It’s so cool. It’s like everyone does different stuff and it’s, it’s always like things that I wouldn’t have thought of doing. That’s great to see. It’s very cool. Different people handle the, the subject.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (38:08):
<laugh>. This is new panel three is influencing panel one.
Alex Major (38:18):
I have no idea what you’re talking
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (38:19):
About. <laugh>. <laugh>. I like it. It’s a bit of a twist.
Alex Major (38:27):
I like how you notice the bone, but you notice the other thing I drew on the ground there.
Peter J Lawson (38:35):
I am looking at it on a mobile phone. So it’s very hard to see details. Oh
Alex Major (38:39):
Yeah. I was thinking Shane would’ve noticed it.
Edmund Kearsley (38:42):
Bring it back up and have another look.
Alex Major (38:44):
Yeah. See if you guys can,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (38:46):
Oh, I just realised <laugh>.
Alex Major (38:49):
It’s okay. Just
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (38:50):
Look what it was. Hang on. I gotta go back to the right spot. Huge naughty boy.
Alex Major (38:57):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (38:59):
Oh yeah, I see it now.
Alex Major (39:00):
<laugh>. Yeah. It’s funny if I didn’t have to bring it up now that I brought it up, it’s kind of like, oh no, somebody hasn’t grown up
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:15):
Growing up.
Alex Major (39:17):
Yeah, I can, I I can see Rob being disappointed in me right now.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:22):
<laugh>
Alex Major (39:24):
Rob’s just, just shaking his head going, I can’t watch this. I’m sorry. I normally like the support comics, but I can’t do this. Sorry. Shane. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:34):
Alex
Alex Major (39:36):
Rob, if you’re watching Hello. Miss you.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:43):
Yeah. Where’s your gday mate? Missing it?
Alex Major (39:50):
You know, I never noticed that Rob had a catchphrase until now. So Good Day Mate. Is his catchphrase.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (39:57):
Um, I think it’s become it. I don’t know if it was, but it is now <laugh>. He does it on almost every stream. <laugh>.
Alex Major (40:07):
Oh there you go. Ah, I feel like I’m not sorry Rob. I have a feeling he’s not watching.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:15):
That’s it. I’m gonna have to have words with him tomorrow.
Alex Major (40:18):
Exactly. Because like, you know, who is watching Nick May.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:22):
Yeah.
Alex Major (40:23):
You know, he good. Okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:25):
The two Nicks are watching. Come on.
Alex Major (40:27):
Come on. Both Nicks are watching the quick one and the slow one.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:30):
Yeah.
Peter J Lawson (40:33):
Are the Nick gonna come on and have a crack at this?
Edmund Kearsley (40:36):
Yeah, I hope so.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:37):
Yeah.
Alex Major (40:38):
Yeah. But you got a quick, Nick has to do a full page himself.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (40:42):
<laugh>
Alex Major (40:43):
Like, because because he is, he’ll finish one panel, he’ll finish one panel in three minutes.
Edmund Kearsley (40:50):
You’ll give him a 12 panel grid.
Alex Major (40:52):
Yeah. <laugh> Or just fit a lot of panels in there. ’cause Yeah, I dunno. I gotta
Edmund Kearsley (41:02):
This, so you guys are drawing fast tonight, but how long does it do like, normally take you to do a panel on average if you had to estimate?
Peter J Lawson (41:15):
Oh, oh. Depends on what’s in it. Um, yeah.
Alex Major (41:20):
Well it depends because like, I, I don’t draw panel by panel. I’ll rough it out and then I just layer layer. So I’ll have a couple of panels and stuff and a lot of times while I’m still, if I haven’t laid down the panel lines yet, I still might edit it around and moving things. So, um, it’s very hard to guess. But, um, yeah, I think it’ll, if I wasn’t, if I didn’t have a job, I probably, and and wasn’t procrastinating, you know, it would be like a, a 10 hour, 10 to 12 hour day to do a full page page.
Peter J Lawson (41:55):
Yeah. That
Alex Major (41:57):
And, and then, um, uh, and that, and that page would have, from the way I draw it varies between five to eight panels. So an hour and 23 minutes is my guess. I’ve got a <inaudible>
Peter J Lawson (42:11):
Up like that. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:16):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (42:19):
What about you Pete?
Peter J Lawson (42:21):
Depends on the, um, on the, the page. And although lately I’ve been going quite nuts on the panels, I’m just shared one through to you Shane. You can pop that up at you want Oh, good
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (42:33):
Stuff. It’s taking his time, getting through,
Peter J Lawson (42:38):
Still sending,
Alex Major (42:39):
Oh we can do grey scale. Oh, look at all that stuff. I wasn’t gonna do it. Oh,
Peter J Lawson (42:43):
That’s lovely.
Logan French (42:44):
Oh, you don’t have to. It’s just,
Edmund Kearsley (42:46):
It’s just making you look bad if you don’t <laugh> <laugh>.
Alex Major (42:52):
I wanna do some pink scale, but we have no colours. So
Logan French (42:55):
That’s the thing. I’m, I’m normally working in colour by now, so grayscale. It is.
Edmund Kearsley (43:05):
So Peter, you are, uh, just stuff on torn and uh, the battery hand panel and or page that you’ve been showing on Facebook that, uh, just getting really detailed backgrounds and stuff you’ve been doing.
Peter J Lawson (43:18):
Yeah, it’s something relatively new as I do, as you do it, you sort of, you know, I think would all be the same. You wanna do more, try to progress what you’re doing and um, yeah, sort of chats with people like Tad, uh, Michael Deko, um, Dave <inaudible>, people like that. Like do work your backgrounds harder and set the scene stronger. It’s all part of the storytelling. So that’s been a lot of it lately just to get that sort of stuff down. I think that page should be through to you. It’s a in, it’s in the page. Billabong on the leg from the current issue was Horn. I’m working on if you wanna pop that up Sharon.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:10):
Yeah, no, they just popped through. They just popped through. I must said Mainten. It’s a bit, uh, dodgy ’cause I’m going through my phone.
Peter J Lawson (44:18):
Uh, I dunno, it might’ve been my end it soon to take a while to send out here at all too.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:23):
Oh, okay.
Alex Major (44:24):
Oh, are you using your mobile? So you
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (44:26):
Picture I can put up, it’s showing off. I love it. Yeah,
Peter J Lawson (44:31):
Yeah. Like that one basically took quite a while to get down just to, just for body language and stuff like that. You want to try to get across the emotion while there’s a script that goes with it that I wrote, I like to try to get the images, the emotion of the, the scene through with the drawings. Not just I’m relying on words to do it. The, the comment page has to tell the story on the phone first. Mm-Hmm. Agreed. Hopefully that one sort of gets across what I want to and I’ll add words to it later. And where are you up to? Woo. Looking good. Oh, that looks great. Oh,
Alex Major (45:24):
You’re doing a great job Logan. Damn dec.
Peter J Lawson (45:31):
My marriages just showing off <laugh>.
Alex Major (45:35):
Look at that. Look at that. You and your clip studios.
Peter J Lawson (45:41):
Ah,
Alex Major (45:43):
So I, I was gonna, I’m gonna throw it up Logan. ’cause you seem like you wanted to bash iPad users for before we got on board. <laugh>, what up was that?
Logan French (45:52):
No, it’s it’s all personal preference. It’s all it is.
Alex Major (45:55):
Yeah. Yeah. You said that. Oh, if you want real software, I’m like, ooh, <laugh>. Wow.
Peter J Lawson (46:00):
Okay, so look, this is,
Logan French (46:03):
This is my argument, right? If I wanna do an a two poster that has 82 layers in it, can I do that on an iPad?
Alex Major (46:10):
Yes.
Logan French (46:11):
Yeah.
Alex Major (46:12):
Yeah. Well for starters, the app you’re using Clip Studio, yeah. You can use and um, and the iPad Pro, like, um, if you’ve got like an M chip iPad Pro or like the M1 iPad air, it’ll handle it fine. Like my iPad Pro, I mean I could do it on procreate, but I got the one with 16 gigs of ram, you know, showing off, you know, baller, <laugh>. But, uh, you know, um, but flexing, you know, but um, but yeah, I can do an a two page with a bunch of layers if I want. But I can also,
Logan French (46:50):
If I only had $300.
Alex Major (46:52):
Sorry,
Logan French (46:53):
What if I only had $300?
Alex Major (46:55):
Well then you can do it at all. ’cause your laptop’s gonna cost a lot more money than that if you
Peter J Lawson (46:59):
Want computer.
Logan French (47:01):
I’m just saying if I already got a laptop, there’s just, there’s circumstances. Everybody has different circumstances.
Alex Major (47:09):
Oh, I’m, I’m, I’m just curious. I think they’re both, I reckon today compared to, because like, I started drawing like, you know, a long time ago before computers, like, I mean, when the Syntechs were still grey and had only 5, 2 56 levels of pressure sensitivity. Yeah. So that’s when I started drawing. And then I remember when the first iPad came in and was drawing with my finger and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So it’s, and what we have now, it’s a lot better. So I think
Logan French (47:37):
It’s come
Alex Major (47:37):
Way all option, all options are good. I just thought we could have a juicy conversation. That’s so I wanted, I wanted to spice up, uh, wanted to spice up the comment section. People go, oh no, go get a Samsung. It’s great. It’s the best in the world. <laugh>.
Logan French (47:54):
I,
Alex Major (47:56):
Because I remember when, uh, I don’t know, probably Ed, when you were a kid, I don’t know if you were one of those kids. Like I was a big Seeger fanboy. Uh, I thought everybody that have a Nintendo was an idiot.
Edmund Kearsley (48:08):
I
Alex Major (48:08):
Didn’t have that decide. Were you in that war?
Edmund Kearsley (48:10):
I didn’t have either, but my, my friend had a, he had an like a Nintendo entertainment system and then in the 16 bit he went to Mega Drive. So, and then
Alex Major (48:22):
He went plays station, see part the next Pollard conversations.
Edmund Kearsley (48:24):
No, ’cause I never had, I had a PC with the
Alex Major (48:28):
Oh. When they were so, so you laughed at us having these <laugh> computers,
Edmund Kearsley (48:32):
But they weren’t good then until like, um, doom and that came out.
Logan French (48:38):
Yeah. That’s when then changed, eh? Yeah. Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (48:44):
So why? Well, I’m not a veteran of the cons wars.
Alex Major (48:47):
Yeah. <laugh>. Ah, okay. Because I just think that it’s just basically the same, like a lot of times it’s like the same adult that didn’t grow up. So you had these like childhood 10-year-old, uh, conversation the school yet like, oh, this is better than this. Ah. And then now it’s the same people now talking about their tablets and um, and phones the same way.
Logan French (49:10):
<laugh>. That’s exactly,
Alex Major (49:11):
I I thought me and Logan were gonna, you know, spruce up a little competition here and get the nerd talking.
Logan French (49:16):
We can if you like
Edmund Kearsley (49:18):
<laugh>. Yeah,
Logan French (49:30):
No, this is scale going.
Alex Major (49:31):
Oh, you, your micro scale’s not going anywhere. I’m still doing line work, so I’m still drawing hearts and stuff.
Logan French (49:39):
<laugh> add a little heart in mind. Hey.
Alex Major (49:44):
Yeah. I mean, if I wanted to or if I hook up my keyboard to it, I could cut and paste, but then the heart check’s gonna look too much the same. We don’t want that.
Alex Major (50:05):
Uh,
Alex Major (50:06):
I could get rid of my blue lungs and stuff, so.
Alex Major (50:12):
Hmm.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (50:15):
Wow. Logan, you’re gonna be finished by the end of the show.
Alex Major (50:18):
Yeah, but uh, Logan’s inspired me to go grey scale too, so I grey scale stuff
Peter J Lawson (50:28):
Trying to make me approach things. I’ve never done
Alex Major (50:31):
What? You never done grayscale before?
Peter J Lawson (50:33):
Not really. No. Not in a serious way at all.
Alex Major (50:38):
I’m very happy that, uh, me and Logan are getting into the, getting into the uncomfortable zone.
Logan French (50:45):
Well, just something new maybe.
Edmund Kearsley (50:48):
Hmm.
Alex Major (50:50):
I can stop being so positive.
Logan French (50:52):
Come on. I can’t help it. <laugh> <laugh>.
Alex Major (50:56):
We need to, we need to get the views. So we need to be controversial.
Logan French (51:01):
I know. We should be arguing and you know
Alex Major (51:04):
Exactly. Talking about. Exactly. And it has to be unimportant. It has to be unimportant. <laugh> don’t get into to real stuff. Just, I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna get into real arguments with anybody. Maybe Nick, but Nick, Nick, Nick struck me below the belt of his shoes.
Edmund Kearsley (51:25):
<laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:26):
Equally.
Alex Major (51:28):
Well that’s how shoes work. You usually kick below the belt of those.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (51:31):
Oh yeah, that’s true.
Edmund Kearsley (51:42):
No, I’ve been playing around with, uh, the half tones and stuff that come with Clip Studio. Oh yeah.
Alex Major (51:49):
In Clip Studio as well.
Edmund Kearsley (51:51):
Yeah, it’s a, there’s a half tone
Alex Major (51:55):
Thing button.
Edmund Kearsley (51:56):
Yeah. Like a on the fill fill bucket thing or on the selection thing. There’s a, you can see it right there on Logan’s screen next to the bucket.
Alex Major (52:06):
Oh yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (52:09):
I’ve also been using, uh, thought balloons for the first time probably since the eighties. I think
Logan French (52:15):
The balloons in,
Alex Major (52:18):
That’s how Garfield talks.
Edmund Kearsley (52:20):
Hmm.
Alex Major (52:21):
What balloons? So what did you say, Logan? I I was, I was being rude.
Logan French (52:25):
No, that’s all right. I was just saying that the, uh, the balloon system in clips really good.
Alex Major (52:30):
Oh yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (52:31):
Alright, cool.
Logan French (52:33):
Just makes it a lot easier to give you sort of an all in one kind of application without having to duck between things like Illustrator and stuff like that.
Edmund Kearsley (52:44):
Yeah, they’re pretty versatile.
Alex Major (52:52):
Oh, okay. I’m almost not that almost done. How? I think I need another 10 minutes and then I’m gonna call it a day.
Edmund Kearsley (53:01):
We, you don’t have to finish it on the Yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:03):
Yeah, I was gonna say you don’t have to finish it.
Alex Major (53:05):
Oh yeah, the show.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:07):
You have to finish it. It’s just not on the show. Oh,
Alex Major (53:10):
Don’t worry. I will finish it on the show. Um, uh,
Peter J Lawson (53:13):
Don’t worry. I, it’s
Alex Major (53:14):
Part of the challenge. Although, what are you doing, Logan? What are you doing? Airbrushes and stuff.
Edmund Kearsley (53:20):
He’s adding
Logan French (53:20):
Animation. I’m just adding a little bit of depth in the lighting and, um, you know, a little bit of texture.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (53:29):
Uh,
Logan French (53:32):
That’s awesome. He’s, he’s coded a little video game to go with it too, so
Alex Major (53:39):
Probably added a
Logan French (53:40):
Little backstory
Alex Major (53:41):
To the phone on the ground. And you make the video game in assembly as well?
Logan French (53:46):
<laugh>?
Alex Major (53:48):
Uh, somebody got it. There you go. Uh oh, you got the, oh, but speaking of, um, speaking of conventions, I’m also gonna be in LA I am going to Light box if anybody knows what that is.
Logan French (54:04):
That does sound familiar.
Alex Major (54:05):
It’s, uh, it’s, most of it, it’s like a convention for, um, concept artists, animators and stuff like that. But comic people go there too and a lot of like just, oh, how cool. Like, famous online illustrators who have books, app books and stuff like that. So it’s not why I’m going there, but I’m gonna be in LA at the same time. So I figured, oh, that’s on the same time I’m gonna go there. So if anybody else listening gonna be there during la Let’s try to catch up. Shane, you gotta be in LA at the same time. I’ll take that as a yes.
Logan French (54:46):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:49):
If you’re talking to me, I can’t hear a thing over the storm.
Alex Major (54:52):
Oh wait, rain don’t go outside, dude. Stay inside the house. That’s why the storm doesn’t, doesn’t affect you.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (54:59):
No, there’s there’s, there’s not much insulation between me and outside. So all I can hear is rain and storm right now.
Alex Major (55:06):
Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:10):
I was actually a bit worried it was gonna be coming through on the microphone.
Alex Major (55:13):
I can hear it. We had our storm yesterday. Now we’re gonna have like record heat, you know, the conversation’s going well when we’re talking about, I’m
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:23):
Just glad I’m still on the
Logan French (55:24):
Internet. <laugh>.
Alex Major (55:30):
Yeah, it’s a bunch of North Koreans can’t say.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:43):
Uh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (55:46):
Yeah, to get right off topic, I was uh, talking to the Optus lady the today. Oh yeah. And um, apparently my information is probably in the email that I haven’t accessed in like 10 years. So that’s probably where the warnings were that I’d lost my account. But you can’t gimme the password or reset it without me proving who I am and I can’t prove who I am without logging into the email.
Alex Major (56:10):
But you have other stuff, like any, like those questions they’d say like only you can answer like favourite. Yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:18):
Apparently I got them wrong. So I’ve gotta go into a shop and
Logan French (56:21):
<laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:22):
And show my licence and prove who I am.
Alex Major (56:26):
You’re like, you don’t remember your pet’s name.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:29):
She could not tell me or confirm or deny if my account had been cancelled, but going by everything this end. It looks like it has.
Alex Major (56:37):
Oh, somebody hacked into it or did they cancel?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:41):
No, I had a lot of credit on it and I thought it was, had about a year’s worth of credit on it, but obviously I was wrong.
Alex Major (56:49):
Oh, maybe. No, no. Don’t fall into that trap. You’re not always wrong. You’re the customer. You’re supposed to be always right. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (56:56):
Well, it was linked up to a card, which I think expired years ago.
Alex Major (57:02):
Again, I don’t see how that’s your fault.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:05):
Yeah, well they would tell, they probably told me on my email that I needed to updated, but I haven’t been in that email for a decade. Well, they
Alex Major (57:11):
Didn’t. Yeah, well obviously they didn’t because otherwise you would’ve known about it. So I don’t know. Well, I’m sitting, it looks like they are clearly in the wrong.
Peter J Lawson (57:21):
Yes.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:22):
And they always in the wrong. I’m always in the right. I like it. I like this. The style of thinking,
Peter J Lawson (57:27):
Ed, because of their inconvenience. They now owe you money.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:31):
Yes,
Alex Major (57:31):
Exactly. Yeah. So you should ask them. I said, look, excuse me, look, if you don’t want any trouble, look, I’m, I’m, I’m, I’m easy <laugh>. $15,000. You’re Optus, you’ve got it Just, you know, just deposited my
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:44):
Account. Well I’ve been using my phone for a month now because I’ve been too lazy to go to the shop, but, um, so I might’ve lost my account a month ago.
Alex Major (57:56):
Oh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (57:57):
I might not have an account with Optus anymore.
Alex Major (58:01):
So you gonna go with Teltra then?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:04):
Um, actually it’s funny, I was looking through all the deals and Optus still has the better deal. So,
Alex Major (58:09):
Ah, shit. That’s the worst when a company screwed you over like that. That’s the best deal. You like
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:14):
For what I want. For what I want. They have the better deal. Um, not everyone would want what I want, so I wouldn’t say they’ve got the better deal for
Alex Major (58:21):
Everyone being bit cagey. Is this, do you want something weird?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:25):
No, it’s because I want really high speeds and
Alex Major (58:27):
Oh
Peter J Lawson (58:29):
Yeah, they sorts of downloads.
Alex Major (58:32):
Uh, are you saying that other people want their internet slow?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:36):
No, I’m just saying they wouldn’t wanna pay that much extra just to get that faster speed <laugh>.
Alex Major (58:40):
Oh, okay. Yeah. But my life is internet. I mean, I like, I like my internet faster than one. I’m also weird. Like you quite a large amount of people that are weird. Like you <laugh>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (58:53):
<laugh>. Yeah, I live on the internet so I can’t stand slow internet. And apparently NB N’s got faster.
Alex Major (59:08):
They must something.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:11):
Yeah. Back to the drawing. Not of my problems.
Alex Major (59:13):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. The drawing’s boring. <laugh> continue about your stuff.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:22):
<laugh>. Oh, they’re all fine. Just the internet. Oh.
Alex Major (59:28):
Oh, that shit. I was hoping for some gossip.
Logan French (59:32):
Really? You’re really fishing for that, that traction.
Alex Major (59:36):
Yeah, dude, I want, I want that viral moment where people just all talk about English,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (59:41):
<laugh>
Alex Major (59:42):
Shane and Logan, those two guys
Logan French (59:46):
<laugh>, when did they hook up?
Alex Major (59:48):
What’s going on? Exactly. You just want people to talk about it the whole time. I I, I’d love to see some, some fan channel where they just gossip about the comics people and then just make up theories about us and our lives and who hates who.
Logan French (01:00:04):
The start one
Alex Major (01:00:06):
<laugh>. I’ve been trying all hour
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:09):
<laugh>.
Alex Major (01:00:16):
Yeah, I’m trying, I’m
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:17):
Trying to <crosstalk>, all I know is you’re probably not getting opt this as a sponsor anytime soon. That’s all I know.
Alex Major (01:00:23):
<laugh>. We just need a good, you just need a good salesman for that or a good agent. Go like, see those guys here? Sounds like you don’t wanna work with them, but to be honest, these are the people you wanna work with. <laugh>. And then they’d be like, I don’t think so, dude. It’s
Alex Major (01:00:40):
Okay. I’m
Alex Major (01:00:40):
Gonna do this. Oh, look at all that stuff. What you, this has
Alex Major (01:00:49):
Been
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:00:49):
Different. Just watching one person.
Alex Major (01:00:52):
Yeah. Oh, uh, I’m, I’m, I’m almost done. I’m just doing touch up now. Oh
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:01:00):
Really?
Alex Major (01:01:02):
Well, I don’t know. I haven’t sent anything. I could be making stories up, so who knows, who knows where I am. It’s a mystery. I, um, but yeah, I’m just, um, I’m just, uh, pulling the hats and then I’m gonna see if my airbrush is gonna look good. If it looks good, I’ll keep it. If not, I’m like, screw this. No airbrushing for Ed. Just, he’s just gonna get, just, just just plain soft call porn robot
Alex Major (01:01:35):
<laugh>.
Logan French (01:01:41):
Nothing special for you?
Alex Major (01:01:43):
No.
Alex Major (01:01:49):
Oh wait, the eyeballs
Alex Major (01:01:50):
Should fart.
Alex Major (01:01:53):
<laugh> now. There’s your viral click.
Alex Major (01:01:58):
Yeah, that’s, that’s, that’s my, uh, that’s my catchphrase. It farts
Alex Major (01:02:04):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:08):
Sorry, I dunno what that says about you or says about me, but all I heard was soft porn. Sorry, what?
Alex Major (01:02:14):
Uh, I just said that I’m making soft porn for Ed.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:19):
Ah,
Alex Major (01:02:21):
Uh, if you
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:22):
<crosstalk> Well, to go off topic, think I’ve got a soft porn story I was given a site to do and um, I was given reference sites and, uh, one of them I wasn’t expecting what I came to,
Alex Major (01:02:36):
But only fans.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:02:38):
Uh, no, no, no. It was a full, yeah. Yeah, it was, um, not what I was expecting. Was it <crosstalk>? He was only referencing the menu. He said he liked the menu in that particular site. And I’m like, okay. And I was working with a very religious dude who, um, was also shocked ’cause he opened it be just as I opened it so I couldn’t warn him. <laugh>. So, um, yeah, hub does have a good menu. He went bright red. They must have a very good menu. <laugh>. But, um, yeah, so I had to describe the menu to him ’cause he had to log out of it and he has to build the menu. So I had to describe to him what it looked like and what it did.
Alex Major (01:03:21):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:23):
And draw some diagrams without all the sex toys and bits and pieces.
Alex Major (01:03:29):
Stuff. Took all the fun
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:29):
Out. It was very interesting.
Alex Major (01:03:35):
Uh, tell me more about the site.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:38):
What’s that address again? I, I didn’t, I didn’t explore it too much because all I had to do is use the menu. But, um, I did make the mistake of pressing one of the keys. It was a random button. I was, ’cause I was wondering what it was. And it took me to a random
Alex Major (01:03:52):
Page taken, I kind of
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:53):
Regretted that
Alex Major (01:03:54):
Or air quotes.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:03:56):
It was just, um, I didn’t know these things existed. Oh, you’re,
Alex Major (01:04:06):
So it was an
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:07):
Thing. It was,
Alex Major (01:04:09):
I’m trying to figure out like, how bad is it? Because like, is it just like No, no,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:13):
It was just, it was for me it probably wasn’t that bad. But for, uh, my, my mate, he was, he was, he was really thrown by it.
Alex Major (01:04:22):
But you said he is religious, right?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:24):
Yeah, very.
Alex Major (01:04:26):
Yeah. So don’t they do that stuff in the closet? Like secretly Anyway, <laugh> like, like, uh, I think I saw that, like that uh, website. I, well
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:04:36):
Probably religious isn’t probably the right word. Very, um, naive.
Alex Major (01:04:41):
Yeah, I mean, I know because like there is, um, uh, they did a survey, um, this website, I forgot what it’s for something, something something hub.com and um, <laugh>, they did a survey of where the traffic comes from the most and it seems to be coming from like Pakistan wins the most in some other very religious country. And I was like, ah, interesting. I don’t use Tinder over there,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:06):
But it could have, um, been VPNs. Who knows?
Alex Major (01:05:11):
Yeah. Uh oh Yeah, there could have been VPNs. So just bunch of, so, so Pakistan is like the best way to pretend to be watching this kind of concept.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:19):
It’s a good country to get Pirate Bay.
Alex Major (01:05:22):
Oh, is it?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:23):
I dunno. No, I’m just making that up. <laugh>. I’m just making that up. <laugh>.
Alex Major (01:05:29):
I don’t know. Um, uh, uh, yeah,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:32):
Last time I tried that stuff, which was many years ago, New Zealand was good enough, so.
Logan French (01:05:37):
Yeah.
Alex Major (01:05:39):
Yeah. Uh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:47):
But of course it was only to download stuff I already owned that I wanted digitally. Yeah, that’s it.
Alex Major (01:05:53):
I was just trying to find the website had to not be on that website.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:05:57):
<laugh>,
Edmund Kearsley (01:05:58):
I’ve gotta put it in my block list so you send it on over so we can make sure we don’t go to it.
Logan French (01:06:04):
Yeah, <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:08):
Oh, thank you Peter.
Alex Major (01:06:18):
I’ve gotta draw clouds too, so.
Logan French (01:06:21):
Okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:23):
It just takes a bit of time.
Alex Major (01:06:26):
Oh, so Peter’s finished as well. Oh man.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:32):
You’re showing us is a progress. Oh, it’s looking awesome.
Alex Major (01:06:44):
Oh, I love that. That is
Logan French (01:06:45):
So good. Ooh, one second. Can’t see that.
Edmund Kearsley (01:06:53):
Oh, how’d that happen?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:06:57):
Well, what happened there?
Logan French (01:07:00):
Was that,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:03):
Oh, that was you. Okay.
Logan French (01:07:06):
That, that
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:09):
I thought I’d broken something.
Logan French (01:07:11):
No, no. It was just me causing trouble.
Alex Major (01:07:16):
Ah, Logan, it’s that Bendigo stuff. Hooligan’s blood coming.
Logan French (01:07:23):
Oh yeah. Don’t get me started on those. Ah,
Alex Major (01:07:26):
Oh, I think I have
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:28):
<laugh>.
Alex Major (01:07:32):
Okay. I think I’m, I think I’m done. So where’s the,
Logan French (01:07:37):
I’m gonna give you this.
Edmund Kearsley (01:07:41):
It says, do you wanna send me the Peter’s one?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:07:46):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (01:07:48):
And then, um, Alex and
Alex Major (01:07:50):
<crosstalk>, I can send it to both of you and you guys can decide what to
Logan French (01:07:54):
Do. Yeah. So I’ll send one this.
Edmund Kearsley (01:07:55):
Just send the, the drawing the, they send all the background and stuff.
Logan French (01:08:00):
Yeah,
Alex Major (01:08:05):
Here we go. Um, I sent you both the comic. I hope I got, I included the background, right? You wanted the, the page you gave me, right?
Edmund Kearsley (01:08:13):
No.
Logan French (01:08:15):
Oh,
Edmund Kearsley (01:08:15):
It’s all right. It should be able to,
Alex Major (01:08:19):
If you want, I can just send you just the image if nothing. So I can do that too, just to <crosstalk>. Yeah,
Edmund Kearsley (01:08:23):
That’d be better.
Alex Major (01:08:24):
Yeah, of course. No worries. Uh, get rid of this, this, and, oh, that was a bad idea. It’s just a second. Um, I mean, not have to
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:08:35):
Oh,
Alex Major (01:08:38):
What?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:08:40):
Just how much you’ve done wrong. I wasn’t expecting, sorry. How much you’ve done. I wasn’t expecting it.
Alex Major (01:08:45):
Okay. Oh, thank you. So anyways, I’m just doing, um, p and g I’m gonna send you, uh, ed a better file for you. Uh, <inaudible>. And there we go. Sent one with that. The stuff. So it’s just the image. You can crop it and add whatever word, balloons there. There’s enough space for the robot to say something or the eyeball to say something.
Edmund Kearsley (01:09:18):
But
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:09:18):
You’ve gotta, you’ve gotta decide what it says.
Alex Major (01:09:20):
Oh, I’ve gotta decide what it says. Oh crap. <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:09:26):
It will letter it, but you’ve gotta, it’s your story. Oh,
Alex Major (01:09:32):
Okay. Um,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:09:55):
Oh, <laugh>. I’m not too bright to this afternoon. I was looking all around that for a bird and then realised, oh, hang on. The eyeball had wings.
Alex Major (01:10:15):
Cool. I don’t know if you can think of something a bit more. Uh, I won’t be offended if you think of something a little bit, uh, more clever than what I wrote.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:10:25):
Nope. What you wrote. That’s the rules. Okay.
Edmund Kearsley (01:10:29):
Add that in.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:10:33):
Unless it was obscene.
Alex Major (01:10:34):
Ah, it got flat. Flat.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:10:35):
And that’s not the
Alex Major (01:10:36):
Rules that could be interpreted as something else. If somebody didn’t put in the l Well, you can happily remove it if you prefer <laugh>. Well, I don’t know there’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:10:48):
A fucking that
Alex Major (01:10:49):
You’re doing stuff based on what, um, Peter was doing. So I was like, okay, I I took stuff from you as well. I even used the bone.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:11:02):
That’s what he
Alex Major (01:11:02):
Wanted to do.
Edmund Kearsley (01:11:05):
Hey, Pete, can you send Jo one through to me?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:11:07):
Oh, shit.
Alex Major (01:11:11):
I can, I’m not finished
Logan French (01:11:12):
Yet. I do. You wanna wait? Or more
Alex Major (01:11:14):
<laugh>?
Logan French (01:11:16):
There you go. Logan.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:11:17):
Oh no.
Logan French (01:11:18):
There you go. What have you much
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:11:20):
Appreciate. What have you done, Alex?
Logan French (01:11:23):
<laugh>?
Alex Major (01:11:25):
I don’t know. I just have, nobody’s regretted. Nobody’s got regrets now, <laugh>.
Logan French (01:11:33):
It’s not, it’s not gonna affect my reputation. <laugh>. Yeah, I, dear.
Alex Major (01:11:43):
I had no reputation to begin with, so, okay.
Logan French (01:11:47):
Righty. What am I doing with this
Edmund Kearsley (01:11:49):
To again, send that through to me.
Logan French (01:11:53):
Cool. Uh, how do you like it? Jpeg? Yeah, it’s fine. Yeah. Tiff,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:12:01):
It’s just to make a sample.
Alex Major (01:12:05):
Yeah. I think, um, my first reaction was that I like it very much. I’ll give it a nice 10 outta 10. You like four
Logan French (01:12:14):
Months. Nice. Uh, am I emailing it to you or,
Edmund Kearsley (01:12:24):
Uh, you could just send it through, uh, Instagram.
Logan French (01:12:29):
Ah, cool.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:12:30):
Or
Logan French (01:12:31):
Messenger. Oh,
Alex Major (01:12:33):
So we’re keeping all these images to ourselves or do you want us to pro uh, pimp it on the message boards? I mean Instagram’s to say, Hey, we did this on the show and it’s coming along.
Edmund Kearsley (01:12:45):
They can do that. Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:12:47):
Yeah. That sounds awesome.
Alex Major (01:12:51):
Yeah, I’ll do that. Then I’ll, I’ll put it into something that it’s,
Logan French (01:12:56):
People
Alex Major (01:12:56):
Can go like, oh cool, my panel.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:00):
You sure to tag Ed? ’cause he is awesome. Just throwing it out there.
Alex Major (01:13:07):
I’ll thank everybody involved. Don’t worry. <laugh> don’t need to make it awkward. Shane saying
Logan French (01:13:14):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:15):
Yes, I do.
Logan French (01:13:16):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:17):
Christine,
Alex Major (01:13:20):
We’re all not doing much. Just saying. That’s all. Just all talk. No, just
Logan French (01:13:24):
Saying
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:25):
No. Yeah. No talk. Well, well Ed’s, are you putting that together now, ed?
Edmund Kearsley (01:13:31):
Yeah, just waiting for,
Logan French (01:13:33):
Yeah. Sorry.
Alex Major (01:13:35):
Page
Logan French (01:13:36):
Won’t be a moment.
Alex Major (01:13:40):
Logan, do I follow you on the Instagram machine as well?
Logan French (01:13:44):
I don’t know if you do.
Alex Major (01:13:46):
Um, is it on the, on the thing?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:49):
Uh, it’s on the ticket down the bottom.
Alex Major (01:13:50):
Yep. I’m looking, I’m looking now so I can Logan’s
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:13:53):
Last. Logan. WTF.
Alex Major (01:13:58):
Okay, cool. I’m gonna take a look. So I’m gonna follow and tag so people know I was,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:04):
I dunno if that’s his recent one, but that’s the one I know. I know people have multiples.
Logan French (01:14:12):
Uh, that’s my current.
Alex Major (01:14:14):
Oh yeah. Cool. I’m following you now. So it’s all good.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:14:29):
I follow everyone and stalk no one. I swear
Alex Major (01:14:32):
<laugh>
Alex Major (01:14:37):
Stalk some anyways. Uh, just, yeah,
Alex Major (01:14:43):
So
Alex Major (01:14:46):
I don’t know why it also recommended Logan Paul. So I don’t know Logan French, Logan Paul, like you guys have any, is there an overlap I should know about?
Logan French (01:14:56):
Uh,
Alex Major (01:14:56):
Don’t hold up a prime drink if you do. We’re not friends anymore.
Alex Major (01:15:00):
<laugh>? Yes, I am having,
Logan French (01:15:07):
Oh, actually no, it was having a meltdown now. It’s not. Okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:18):
All looks good on the screen. Oh,
Logan French (01:15:25):
There it’s, sorry. Okay. My computer
Alex Major (01:15:31):
Not working. <laugh>,
Logan French (01:15:35):
That was a lot long-winded than I wanted it to be. Uh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:15:42):
I’m sure I can do longer.
Logan French (01:15:50):
There we go. <laugh>. I don’t understand why that would took longer than it should have.
Alex Major (01:16:02):
Uh, the emailing or the,
Logan French (01:16:05):
They just, the messaging. Just getting it from one location to another. It was just Oh, a bit. Uh,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:12):
Computer’s gonna love them.
Alex Major (01:16:13):
Don’t want to throw in brag or anything, but it’s super easy on the iPad.
Logan French (01:16:17):
<laugh>
Alex Major (01:16:22):
Socials
Logan French (01:16:23):
Easy to do.
Alex Major (01:16:25):
Ah, look at, Hey, is there a preview of something you didn’t want us to say?
Logan French (01:16:28):
Huh? Oh, no, it’s just me scribbling,
Alex Major (01:16:31):
Uh, scribbling. Is that part of a comic?
Logan French (01:16:33):
It’s some design work I’m doing for a Lady of the Swamp,
Alex Major (01:16:38):
So. Oh, okay.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:16:40):
Oh, cool.
Alex Major (01:16:42):
I thought it was just like somebody reacting to somebody just showing up with a tablet screen and a laptop instead of just the one device that does it all. <laugh>.
Logan French (01:16:53):
It’s never gonna happen.
Alex Major (01:16:55):
<laugh>.
Logan French (01:16:57):
So the thing that really ticks me off with iPads is the navigation.
Alex Major (01:17:02):
Yeah.
Logan French (01:17:04):
Uh, I can’t,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:05):
Yes, max. I have a problem with air navigation as well.
Logan French (01:17:08):
The, the hand movements when moving the piece of paper around. Um, mm-Hmm. <affirmative> doesn’t sit well with me. I know. You can get little devices and stuff, so you can put shortcuts on there, um, to work
Alex Major (01:17:20):
With. Oh, I wouldn’t do that. Like if you, it, it, it’s, you really, like, if, if you get hand gestures, it’s great. If you don’t like hand gestures, well, hand
Logan French (01:17:28):
Hand gesture. Yeah. <laugh>, that’s, that’s the thing. I like buttons.
Alex Major (01:17:32):
I like, I like, I like hand gestures. You wanna fight me?
Logan French (01:17:36):
Sure. <laugh>. Let’s set this up
Alex Major (01:17:40):
Because it’s like, it’s this whole like karate kid thing, you know? Finger goes up now lemme
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:44):
Get you get closer.
Alex Major (01:17:46):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:17:47):
There you go. There you go. Now you can start fighting <laugh>. Ah, cool. Oh, we got a comment.
Alex Major (01:18:01):
Yeah, let’s get that nerd off the screen.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:04):
Nice work. Chaps from Dave Dye.
Alex Major (01:18:07):
Oh, Dave’s awesome.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:20):
So while Ed’s doing that, I was gonna show, um, all the comics that you guys are in, in the comic shop, but I came up with a problem when I did that. Oh
Alex Major (01:18:31):
Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:32):
Um, I’ll share the screen, see if I can remember how to do this. You know, it’s my software and all that.
Alex Major (01:18:42):
Nice comic panel.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:46):
Screen two. Yeah, screen two. It’s the right one.
Alex Major (01:18:50):
<laugh>, is it all working out?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:18:52):
I’m gonna overload over override. I mean, see there’s Alex major.
Alex Major (01:19:01):
Oh yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:19:01):
Says four results. But if you actually look at the original page, it says if you’re used to it says seven. So that means three of them are sold out.
Alex Major (01:19:13):
Ah, so three stuff that, yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:19:16):
Yeah. The problem with, um, Logan’s and Peter’s, uh, they’re sold out. There’s nothing there except the preview of other comics that people can buy
Alex Major (01:19:29):
And
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:19:29):
Ah, and we go to Logan and his is sold out. So whatever you contributed to, I can’t tell you what it was, but it’s sold out <laugh>.
Alex Major (01:19:37):
So anybody else? Um, what, uh, is anybody watching? If you want to buy anything from anybody on the screen, I’m your only bet. <laugh>? Yep.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:19:47):
Only one. Everything else is sold out.
Alex Major (01:19:51):
I’m on three colours and Dave. So three different versions of the same thing. And the moose number three.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:19:56):
Yep.
Alex Major (01:19:56):
What about That’s the teacher, teacher comic. Do you still have it on the shop or,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:20:02):
Um, that’s a good question. Why is it not showing up? I’ll have to look into that. Thank you.
Alex Major (01:20:08):
Don’t worry. Uh, if you still have those all, if they’re sold out as well, don’t worry about it. Shane
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:20:14):
<laugh>. Oh, okay.
Alex Major (01:20:15):
It was, uh, I, I, I donated those to the comics cause I wanted, that’s my contribution to Streamy Yard.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:20:22):
Yeah. Uh, they could just be the in the backlog of things. I haven’t put in the shop yet.
Alex Major (01:20:28):
Oh, that could be that too. But
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:20:32):
I’m pretty slack.
Edmund Kearsley (01:20:34):
Do you wanna put me to full screen there sis?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:20:37):
Yeah, sure.
Edmund Kearsley (01:20:42):
Then we can have a look. So this is the last page and then this is a preview of this page.
Alex Major (01:20:52):
Oh, nice. Sweet.
Edmund Kearsley (01:20:53):
It looks like a screen grab from a, from a anime.
Alex Major (01:20:57):
Yeah. Really good stuff, Logan.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:21:01):
I love the differences,
Edmund Kearsley (01:21:03):
Sweetie. There’s a little, the little toot <laugh>.
Logan French (01:21:09):
And you’re right, you can tell all the, all the hearts are drawn.
Edmund Kearsley (01:21:13):
Yeah.
Alex Major (01:21:14):
Separately. <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (01:21:16):
That’s great work.
Alex Major (01:21:18):
Uh, yeah, I do like how, um, uh, Peter went a little bit cartoony there.
Edmund Kearsley (01:21:23):
Hmm.
Alex Major (01:21:24):
Not his normal style,
Peter J Lawson (01:21:26):
Which is really weird for me. I, I I don’t like it at all. <laugh>,
Alex Major (01:21:30):
<laugh> don’t be like that. It looks awesome.
Logan French (01:21:32):
You’re feeling the pressure.
Peter J Lawson (01:21:34):
It’s not what I do, but I, I sort of do now doing something like, well that’s what I thought. Doing something like this. And even with the drink and draw a bit, it’s a chance to do either draw something you wouldn’t normally get around to doing or to just have a crack at doing it a new way. Like otherwise what’s, what’s the fun otherwise, you know?
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:02):
And there we good.
Logan French (01:22:05):
Nice.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:22:07):
That’s awesome guys.
Logan French (01:22:08):
Aaron
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:09):
20. Great work.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:22:12):
He is done some more.
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:14):
That’s looking good.
Alex Major (01:22:17):
So you broke the panel. That’s awesome. Peter, no one else has done breaking panels here. Just you,
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:22):
The dish undid on the first page.
Alex Major (01:22:24):
Oh, you did? Oh well yeah, sorry. Peter <laugh>,
Peter J Lawson (01:22:31):
I’ve done a, a cover for him, which I’m looking,
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:39):
That was
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:22:39):
A big thing. Sorry, it’s being very slow. <laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (01:22:43):
Is that it? Sis?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:22:46):
I believe it is. Unless Logan, are you wanting to show that?
Logan French (01:22:52):
Uh, oh, you can pop it up if you like. Um, that’s,
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:22:55):
Yeah, I was just wondering. I just didn’t know if you’ve had it there on purpose or not.
Logan French (01:22:59):
Um
Edmund Kearsley (01:23:00):
Oh, cool.
Logan French (01:23:01):
A poster for the comic that I’ve been working on, so that
Edmund Kearsley (01:23:04):
Looks awesome. Nice. Very cool. Well, thanks to Alex, Logan and Peter for coming on the show, getting a panel down.
Alex Major (01:23:17):
Oh, thanks so much for inviting me, Edmond. I was like, oh, it’s so exciting. I’d love to be part of it and, um, you know, so it’s cool. So thanks very much for inviting me. I’ve got my logo, but yeah, <laugh>, someone’s down. It’s just me dragging my feet. The
Edmund Kearsley (01:23:36):
Back here. Yeah.
Alex Major (01:23:43):
I also, it’s like a, a heads up because like, I don’t know when, uh, I drink and draw any of that’s coming back on. So I’m gonna be on an American podcast called WhatsApp Fool. I’m, I’m going to, I’m gonna be in LA for a couple for a week and a bit. So if anybody, what’s that fool? Is that a Mr. Tea reference? Um, uh, no, I don’t think so. I think that’s like he’s saying that Felipe has, but, um, okay. But yeah, it’s like a, it’s a, it’s a, it’s a pretty big podcast and it’s part of the all things comedy network, so I’m glad to be part of that. So. Nice. That’s really cool. I did the, I did the intro animation, so I’m in LA and they’re like, I was gonna meet them and they’re like, oh, do you wanna be on the show? And I’m like, hell yeah. I got nothing to promote except this stuff here. So I’ll just say <laugh> <laugh>, but cool. Correct. Yeah, that’s what I said. Shane’s all good. Promote you two. I’ll just lovely, you know, but anyways, if you want me from a bunch of, uh, Mexican American accents that, um, I’ll be among that on an internet for an hour and a bit.
Edmund Kearsley (01:24:45):
Excellent.
Alex Major (01:24:46):
Nice. Yeah, it’s October 25th, so that’s the date. So I think October 25th, LA I think that’s gonna be like, uh, it’s around lunchtime. 26th of October in Australia, so Yeah.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:24:58):
Plus they’re all over socials my friend.
Alex Major (01:25:01):
I will, I will. But I’m just saying, just a heads up for people watching. Ooh, I need to follow this guy. I wanna know, I wanna see Australian voices on American podcast. <laugh>, Jeff. I want somebody else.
Edmund Kearsley (01:25:14):
All right. Um, so we’ll be back next week with some different cartoonists doing some more stuff and, uh, thanks everyone that watched tuned in and everyone that’s watching later on YouTube and, um, I think that’s it. Do can play the outro there. Si
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:25:32):
Okay. Sees everyone. Thank you again.
