Let’s make a comic book, but let’s make it a little bit different. Instead of one person or a team making the whole book, we’re gonna have every panel made by a different cartoonist. We are gonna do one page per episode. So the number of guests is the number of panels on the page. So now you’re probably wondering, what’s this comic book gonna be about? Well, lemme tell you. It’s gonna be about a robot. This robot whose name is blank. What happens next? Nobody knows, but it’s gonna be fun finding out.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (00:44):
So let’s make a comic book is back, and it is back on the 1st of February, and we are here to do a recap of the last 10 pages. for anyone who wants to join in on the show, who’s seen it already and seen how awesome it is and fun it is to be on the show, just contact me. I’ll just put my web address email address down the bottom there. Just email me there or contact me on any of the socials that I’m on. And yeah, so Ed, let’s have a look at these pages.
Edmund Kearsley (01:15):
All right. So we did the first half of the book last year. it’s a, it’s gonna be 20 pages. So we’ve got 10 pages to look at, and the first one is by me. So let’s have a look at that.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:31):
Yes.
Edmund Kearsley (01:32):
All right. So we’ve got my page.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (01:36):
Awesome.
Edmund Kearsley (01:38):
And we’ll it says, greetings fellow who sent in Bings. If you have a spare time unit, I’d like to tell you a story, a story about a little robot with a big case of robo amnesia. This little robot couldn’t remember where it was from or what its mission was. The only thing it could remember was its name. Hello. I am blank. So listen up as we find out what happened to the little robot with a big case of robo amnesia. Yeah. A robot named blank. And so this was the, the page to kick it all off. Mm-Hmm. And I added fantasy elements, some like post apocalypse stuff, some sci-fi stuff. There’s even a little dead blank unit in the back there. So this was to give the, the people, the artists doing the, the next pages, something to, to go off and like get the, the, the ball rolling. And I did the design for blank too. So I wanted it to be a, like a fairly easy design for everyone to be able to draw. And so that was the first page.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:52):
Even I was able to draw a blank, <laugh>
Edmund Kearsley (02:55):
<laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (02:57):
And that was the first page by Ed. So let’s have a look at the second page.
Edmund Kearsley (03:01):
So the second page was done by Deshaun Silver and Peter Wilson. That was on the, the first episode of the show. So let’s take a look at that.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (03:11):
Very cool.
Edmund Kearsley (03:13):
Yeah, these guys did a really good job, especially coming in cold. Like they didn’t know what the, no one really knew what the show was about. See Deshawn’s pulled the, one of the flying eyeballs off the first page of, of my page. Yep. It was just the thing that I threw in there. And so he’s had the, the things exploded arms out of it, and it’s coming into Attack Blank. And he is done the, the building from the first pages there too, which is good. good storytelling. And then Peter Wilson’s come in with the, the flying eyeballs, getting angry. It’s got the, like the swear word stuff there. He’s coming in a blank. And so what we do during the show is the, the person on the first panel starts going, and then the people under the panels afterwards have to wait, so they’ve got something drawn before they go. So that’s how we work it out.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (04:19):
So they draw just enough to be able to tell what’s happening, and then the next people come in and draw from that, which can make for a bit of fun. you’ll probably see on the other pages where they’ve drawn a little bit and the next person started, and then the first person puts a little bit more detail in there, which changes the second panel.
Edmund Kearsley (04:43):
Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (04:44):
So yeah,
Edmund Kearsley (04:44):
That’s good stuff.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (04:46):
So that was Duchenne Silver and Peter Wilson’s page number two. So let’s have a look at number three.
Edmund Kearsley (04:53):
So number three, we got Logan French, Alex Major, and Peter Lawson. Awesome. For episode two. So we’ve got Logan French put a lot of filters and, and grey scales in his one. Yeah. it’s like, it’s ended up being like a, it really looks like it’s a, a still frame from a, like a old TV show, like a old cartoon or something.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (05:27):
Those too, actually, now that you see it, yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (05:30):
You got the big eyeball attack and the, the flapping and flapping. Oh. And, and what we’re talking about before, and see there’s a, there’s a knife there that wasn’t originally there when he was drawing the panel. Then we’ve got Alex Majors panel with a such soft, smooth metal, Aurora Tiki, EOU where we’ve got there the eyeballs fighting and making a move on the robot. And then Peter Lawson decided to mix it up a bit and have a, a bit of a betrayal with the, the knife getting pulled out by the monster. And that’s where that one where Logan drew that one in after.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:24):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (06:25):
So that’s the thing of date. The, the show flows and, and people can change stuff up. And we call this the one panel romance.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:34):
Yes. The one panel Romance. Yes. It’s referred to many times later in the show. Later in the, in later episodes.
Edmund Kearsley (06:43):
Sure. Is, is a really really good episode. three great artists coming together to make a panel panel h to make a complete page that, that all works together on the fly, which is really cool to watch.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (06:59):
It is, was
Edmund Kearsley (07:02):
<laugh> <laugh>.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:04):
So that’s that was Logan French,
Edmund Kearsley (07:06):
Alex
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:07):
Major, Alex major, and Peter Lawson’s page. that was page three. And I guess let’s have a look at page four.
Edmund Kearsley (07:17):
So page four is Ken Best, Nick Cleary and Tom Tongue. So let’s take a look at that. Right. So there’s the page, you get some some action going on. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>, you get Ken best. Do you want a really cool months? Look how cool those wings are.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:36):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (07:37):
And everyone’s drawing this in a roughly in an hour. You don’t have to finish the panel on the show as well.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (07:44):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (07:44):
Just a, a thing to keep in mind for if anyone wants to come on the show and the feeling pressure. And then we’ve got the Lucky My metal is Muan Mu Tanium, which I think was someone in the chat, I think gave that suggestion. He’s getting a big scratch on his face that, and we’ve got Nick Cleary’s panel with the, gets the, both guys get stabbed in this one, and then he flicks out with the, the bone weapon and the egg flies out. And it’s really cool colouring the grey scales, like the, the shadow, like the, see how the, the action hand is, is a Oh yeah. Where
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (08:32):
It, it started, where it ended. Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (08:35):
Nick Nicole half turned coming across and then Tom Tongue went a bit crazy. We got the, what’s it called, the eyeball monster’s wings come off. It’s got got slashed off in the attack and then the, the eggs landed and hatched and there’s a, some sort what would you call that? Like a Eldridge horror on inside, which turned out really good. And another great page by the, from the artist.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (09:04):
Very awesome. So that page was Ken Best, Nick Cleary and Tom Tongue. they did a great job on that together. And I think that was page four. So we’re up to page five. Let’s check out page five.
Edmund Kearsley (09:20):
Yeah, this is page five. So we got Chris Pitcan, Neil Blandon and Brenton McKenna. Show it up for this one and let’s have a look. So we start off with Chris Pitcan. Oops. Okay. So it is Chris Pitcan. He’s got no, why did that have to end this way? Got the, the bone stuck in the, the eyeball monster and the egg monsters in the background. That sky texture is really nice on the back there. And Chris has such a good clean style. And then you compare it to Neil Blandon who’s got the next panel, but the, it looks like the, the egg monster’s attacking the robot who’s attacking blank and it looks like everything’s gone crazy.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:14):
Yeah. I love how even his panel is
Edmund Kearsley (10:18):
Not straight. His panel, it looks sick, got a really good style. It’s like an old school underground comic style. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> to contrast. And then we got Brenton McKenna’s panel, we got the, the tentacle monsters attacking blank with the, the dead eyeball guy. And then there’s this guy in the foreground here, which is like a guy’s faces ripped open, and there’s all the tentacles with eyeballs on it.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (10:53):
Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (10:55):
I don’t think this guy shows up again in the comic book, which is another good thing about the how it works is as everyone’s referencing like the last panel, it says, stuff comes and goes and it gets a bit chaotic, but it, it’s, it’s really cool how the, all the artists are adding their own stuff to, to every page and every panel.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:18):
Yeah. It’s awesome. So we just looked at Chris Pitcan Neil Blandon and Brenton McKenna’s page. that was page five. So I guess we’re gonna have a look at page six now.
Edmund Kearsley (11:32):
Yep. And page six was Yona Hoffman and Shannon Browning. Let’s take a look. So we’ve got the, I think this is the first of the, the weird panel pages.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (11:48):
<laugh>,
Edmund Kearsley (11:49):
We’ve got the, the triangles. So Ana’s added this cool dragon coming in as if the blank hasn’t got enough to deal with. Now there’s a dragon coming in to attack him. And Shannon Browning’s done the, their reaction shot and it’s look at the, how he’s angled it when he, but they were, they’re drawing on separate things. So he is angled it where he is looking straight at the, at the dragon, but he didn’t know where to put it when he was drawing it. So it just worked out really well.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:28):
Yeah, it’s worked out really well.
Edmund Kearsley (12:30):
And his core the eyeball in the, in the foreground, these blast lines look really good on the dragon panel too.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:39):
Mm.
Edmund Kearsley (12:40):
So that’s that page.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:43):
So that was Janna Hoffman’s and Shannon Browning’s page page six. So now we’ll go check out page seven.
Edmund Kearsley (12:50):
Oh no, page seven has Shane Siddle, Morgan Qua and Bo Roth
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (12:57):
All non-art.
Edmund Kearsley (12:58):
Yes. But you might be able to argue that they are artists. So having a look at this, so you guys got the, the three long panel page is all the, the, the pages are picked randomly too.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:16):
Oh yeah, that’s right. Yeah.
Edmund Kearsley (13:18):
At the start of the show. So we’ve got scissors panel here with the, some like the, the bigger dragons coming in heat, and the, the Thes dragon and blank’s in the bottom there saying Crap. And then we’ve got the Morgan’s panel, the the Dragon’s flying off, and he’s, he’s done a crap and it’s heading towards heading towards blank. And he’s saying Crap too
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (13:54):
<laugh>.
Edmund Kearsley (13:55):
And then we’ve got Bo Roth’s panel where he’s cut to the future, the Isaac OV certified and says, I believe in peace and forgiveness, but a robot’s gotta eat. So now he’s, he’s got the, the eyeball monster and the dragon, and that’s a, a grill there. He’s cooking him up and the, the dragon’s head saying, how did I end up here? It’s reserved for Aussie verse in the bottom of the, the page there. So that was a bit of a crazy page, but yes, everyone did a great job.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (14:35):
Yeah. So it was page seven with myself, Shane Siddle and Morgan Quaid and Bo Roth. yeah, we all claim to be non-art, but maybe Ed’s got us pegged there that we, maybe we were actually artists after doing that. and so we’ll go to the next page. we’ll check out page eight now. yeah, take it away, ed.
Edmund Kearsley (15:01):
All right. So we’ve got Tom McGee, Dana King, and Laura Smith on this one.
(15:09)
So we’ve got a carried on with the, from Morgan’s panel where he is having a, he’s eating, he’s, there’s a munch crunch and saying, Hmm, egg. And then there’s a big crunch and there’s a diamond in his cracking his teeth. He’s saying, ow. And there’s a cooler. I really love that ceiling fan in the top there. Yeah. It’s a really, really simple background element, but it, it shows the, the angle and it makes it look like he’s in a room. And then Dana’s got the, it’s got blank reacting to the, to the diamonds and Ouch. And it is so pretty. Wow. And then no, it sub out of his hands. And then Laura’s added this really cool part where the, the diamonds landed, started to open up and then it’s turned into a little robot.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:11):
Ah, I love that.
Edmund Kearsley (16:12):
And this was a, the cool page ’cause everyone’s got like multiple things happening on their panels. Mm-Hmm. It gives it a good flow how they
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:23):
All match like that. So that was Tom McGees, Dana King’s and Laura Smith.
Edmund Kearsley (16:30):
Yep.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:30):
Is that right? that was page eight, I believe. So we are going to page nine. Am I correct?
Edmund Kearsley (16:37):
So we’ve got Ethan Harris den Do and Luca Palmer on this page. Let’s take a look.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (16:46):
Checking out.
Edmund Kearsley (16:47):
And you got Ethan Harris’s page. This is another one with the odd shaped panels. So he’s got the, the the diamond monster that’s turned into some sort of flying thing that’s coming into attack. And you got the back of blanks head in the corner saying Gasp, and then Shade’s gone for a closeup of the, of the diamond monster with the, the big gun coming out of the top of its head. So a really great texture on that background too. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> and a cool sound effect with it. The, and then Lucas panels had to get in here. I wish I had some more team, but I guess this will do. And then there’s a honk honk sound effect because I believe someone said the the the diamond monster’s eyes look like rear view mirrors on a car.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:49):
Yeah. That’s what was said.
Edmund Kearsley (17:51):
<laugh>. And he’s got the, got the fly water and another Yeah. I really
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (17:56):
Love that. It really changed the tone of the page.
Edmund Kearsley (18:02):
Mm. And it’s good there, you could see the, the flow with the page goes like a U shape. Mm. Which works out really cool. Just all these cool things happen when everyone’s drawing on a separate page each, and they can only see, they don’t see the finished thing that the other person’s doing. They just see like a, like the roughs and then they’ve got a draw their one and they just work out so well.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:30):
And that was a great page by Ethan Harris, Shaden J and Luca Palmer.
Edmund Kearsley (18:37):
Yep.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (18:38):
So that was page nine. So I guess we’re gonna have a look at the last page that we’ve done for the show so far. Not the last page of the book. Of course. We’ve got another half to go. So let’s check out number 10
Edmund Kearsley (18:49):
And 10. We’ve got Ryan Vela, Adam Gillespie, and Sean Creek. Let’s have a look. You got villa’s coming in hot with the, the day freak and the, and all the, all the, the, the detail and the, the movement in action. And these all three were drawn to traditionally.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (19:18):
Yes, that’s right. This was our first page with everyone drawing traditional.
Edmund Kearsley (19:26):
And then Adam Gillespie’s page with the, the robot Little diamond monsters blocking the attack with the fly. Swat is seeing freak mm-Hmm. <affirmative>, you can see getting smashed into the floor and grabbing onto the, onto the thing. And then Sean Creek’s gone full manga with the super hypersonic nails of the winter ferret, missile barrage <laugh>. You can see all the, the missiles are coming out of his back and there’s all stuff opening up on his forearms. So probably more missiles that turned out really good. So that’s another great page. So that was page 10. And now whoever starts on page 11 will be starting from Sean’s panel, but the, the missiles are coming at the ding.
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:16):
I’d love to see what happens next. Can’t wait till the 1st of February people.
Edmund Kearsley (20:20):
And if anyone wants to be on the show and wants to draw a panel, contacts is the, the link. I’ll
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:27):
I show the email again. That’s the easiest way to get me. Or just find me on social.
Edmund Kearsley (20:32):
Which way is it?
Shane ‘Sizzle’ Syddall (20:33):
That way? That way. <laugh>. So thanks for watching our little recap that we’ve just done here. And we are looking forward to seeing you watch us on the 1st of February when we come back. So that will be great fun for everyone.
Edmund Kearsley (20:50):
See you. Yeah. Can’t wait. See you.
